Believe it or not The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has now been out for just over three whole months. In that time, many of us have spent 100+ hours exploring the multiple layers of Hyrule, taking on familiar faces and getting lost in the adventure of it all. It's a sobering feeling, therefore, when you beat the game's final boss and roll credits only for the newly unlocked completion percentage on your Purah Pad to remind you that you still have 70% of the game left to complete.
Such is the sheer size of Tears of the Kingdom, that pouring ~50 hours into the main story is hardly scratching the surface of the full experience on offer. It's a big wide world out there, and a threat like Ganondorf is but a drop in the ocean of Shrines, Side Quests and *shivers* Korok seeds...
Much like Breath of the Wild, you can only see your completion percentage after defeating the final boss and the displayed number overlooks certain elements of the game — your Side Quests, for example, do not count towards 100% completion on your Purah Pad.
In fact, the percentage is based on a rather small number of tasks: Discover all Shrines and Lightroots, visit every named location (including smaller points like towns, wells, cave/chasm entrances, Skyview Towers and Zonai Device Dispensers), find all Dragon Tears and, yes, collect all 1,000 Korok Seeds (thanks to the good folk at IGN for the completion checklist).
The list may be small (ish), but getting to the big 100% is no easy feat. In fact, most of us at Nintendo Life Towers aren't even remotely close to reaching absolute completion (this writer is still sitting on a measly 40.81%). So, we thought that we would open it up to you lovely lot and see how close everybody is to hitting that triple-figure percentage.
If you have beaten the game's main story (and don't worry if you haven't, you can always come back and vote another time) then open up your map and check out the percentage in the bottom right. Chances are, it doesn't come close to matching up against the number of hours that you have put into the game — join the club — but who knows, perhaps we have just been slacking off.
Does your percentage match your playtime or do you still have another game's worth of tasks to complete? Vote in our polls below and let us know in the comments what you still have left to do — or if you're even going to bother!

Not yet played, so 0%.
0 - 9%, because I'm waiting for a Master Mode/additional difficulty before going full completionist on this game.
Im way behind. Only done a couple of the main quests. Its just too overwhealming for me at this point.
I'm planning on beating the last boss next week.
I'm got a bunch of uninterrupted free time coming up, so planning on giving it my full attention. I'll be back next Tuesday.
I have beaten the game and am only at like 36%
I’m at 270 hours or more, with 109 shrines and all four main temples done. The home straight is in sight my guys! Or is it?
I haven't beaten the game yet, but here's what I have done:
> 330 hours of play time
All dragon tears found
All temples completed
All shrines completed
All lightroots activated
~740 Korok seeds
All Bubbul gems
Woah I literally finished the game almost to the exact minute this article was uploaded
I've gotten slightly bored with it tbh. I wanted more Breath of the Wild from this game and that's what we got, but I didn't want 200 hours of more Breath of the Wild. Of course, I'm only realizing this after completing more than 200 hours of it so I only have myself to blame.
It's a great game that adds a lot to the BotW format but I've exhausted my interest in it. I haven't finished and I'll probably b-line through the story.
Who am I kidding? I'll try but a cave will likely distract me. Send help.
Played around 230 hours so far and still haven't beaten the final boss. I've found around 130 shrines and 500 Korok seeds. I never get tired of the exploring the world and this is now my new favorite game of all time.
@Magician Snap. My copy is still sat on the shelf awaiting to be opened.
I did everything but most of the optional minigames and getting all of the Korok seeds - and as far as I'm concerned, that's enough.
Nowhere near the end of the game.
At roughly 65 hours I'm in and I'm now starting my first main quest (The one with the zora).
I think this game is brilliant so far. I hope it lasts me well into next year, even if that means continually putting Engage and Xeno 3 dlc on hold.
@The_Pixel_King
Oh my dear boy I'm so sorry, the end is still a decent while away based on how many hours youve already done i reckon youve still got 50-70hrs left...
Happy Gaming!! XD
I am still waiting hard mode.
All shrines and all Lightroots, plus every sidequest I found interesting. Definitely one of the best Zelda games.
65 hours in. I've only finished one of the four main quest locations so I'm basically nowhere. I haven't played for couple of weeks.
Which completion?
I just finished my second temple 😂
I don't know as I've not beaten Ganondorf yet.
I'm fascinated that 10% of people have beaten the game but are only at 0-9% completion. I didn't think that's even possible...
Went back to Tactics Ogre haven't looked back.
I have no real clue how far I have gotten in the game. I've done a lot of exploring, completely filled out the surface map and the sky map, probably about 50-75% done with the underground map, done TONS of sidequests, gone after a lot of armor sets, and on the main story I've done all the temples and gotten all the helper spirits, even the extra one underground, went and fought that spirit ganon thing(s) in the castle, but haven't actually gone in for the final fight. Don't even know how far I have to go yet to get to the final fight.
I've kind of lost the thread on what I'm supposed to be doing and what side stuff I was in the middle of and just kind of moved on to other games. I'll be back to finish what I started eventually...maybe.
I’ve stopped playing it now, got fed up with enemies killing me in 2 hits, regardless of how many hearts I have (doesn’t seem to make any difference). Saying that, I still got around 40-50 hours of play in so got my money’s worth! Don’t know if I’ll ever go back to it.
Woah! I had no idea you could view percentage completed! I'll have to take a look at this later today after work.
I've done all shrines, all light roots, all dungeons, beaten Ganondorf, beat most colloseums, did many sidequests, and explored a bunch of options caves/wells.
Basically, I completed the vast majority of the game but didn't go overly crazy with Korok seeds, so if they factor heavily into %, then mine might still be low.
I'm sad to hear so many people were disappointed with the game. For me, it did the impossible task of matching Majora, my longstanding favorite Zelda.
UPDATE: Just checked and I have 57.46%
@sketchturner I wouldn't assume "many people", in the sense of a large percentage, were disappointed, but those that were probably felt more incentive to tell us.
I left my switch at home for vaca so I can’t check %, but I beat the game at the 160 hour mark. I’d guess I’m sub-50% though. I didn’t go crazy with the shrines or caves. Light roots though I crushed - I found it very addictive to chase after the lights in the distance
not only am I at 100%, I created a completion guide on gamefaqs! https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/switch/266202-the-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom/faqs/80705. You're welcome world!
I’m on a one month break. There’s a precentage count?!
have not even started the game yet have way to many on my list to play first...
I still need to find about 12 shrines, and a bunch of light roots before I go fight the final boss. I'm just enjoying the side quests right now, but I'm feeling the crunch with Starfield coming out in a few weeks. Poor Pikmin has taken a backseat to Zelda in the meantime.
Fully beaten. Got 100% of everything, including Koroks. The only thing I didn't do was upgrade all of the Link cosplay armours because no way am I farming that many star fragments. Other than this, my save file has done absolutely everything else to completion.
Moved on to other games now.
Real life got in the way for a while so I wasn't able to start TotK until a few weeks ago. But, at least this has allowed me to set a new personal record of 70+ hours played after the 10 day period had passed that you have to wait until you can see your playtime.
It's all I could have hoped for - more of what BotW was + so much more. All around not as laid back as BotW was. And so many staggering mindf*ck moments... I only watched a launch trailer beforehand and pretty much went in blank. So these new mechanics, Ultrahand, Ascend etc. were quite surprising.
Not to mention the Depths, I didn't even know they exist. Upon seeing some chasms my wife got curious about them so I just jumped into one, expecting to die. Suddenly Link was standing on something in pitch black darkness, I was completely flabbergasted. An entirely new take on Hyrule exploration was set to begin. It was really mindblowing.
It just adds a new layer to the whole "getting sidetracked" gameplay as a whole. At one point I just wanted to go to the tech lab in Hateno after visiting Link's old house, a simple walk up a hill. All it took was one single "I can't reach my friend" Korok and suddenly I found myself on Hateno beach -> all the way to Eventide island -> another tour through the Depths -> killing hordes of gloom monsters in some crazy Coliseum -> underground tower took me all the way back up to the island again -> sailing back to Hateno beach. Standing there and thinking oh, right, it was the tech lab I set out to reach 5+ hours ago... And when I did reach it I was suddenly wearing Midna's helmet. All because of one Korok. It's trademark BotW, but on multiple layers of Hyrule this time around. A perfect evolution.
The millions of paths you can take throughout this world, all based on freedom and exploration, designed in such a way that no matter which route you take, you will ultimately come across it all. It's just so brilliant and it brings me to Tears that we can finally experience this again after six years of trying to find anything remotely like it, in vain.
When I am finally done, some 200 - 300 hours from now, this will probably be my favorite game of all time.
I put in hundreds of hours in and did mostly everything(didn't collect all gems or Korok seeds), but did all the shrines and lighroots. Beat the game a couple weeks ago and what a masterpiece. Definitely beats out BotW for my favorite game of all time.
I beat the final boss, found every cave, completed all shrines/roots and did a lot of quests, buuut still only got 66,75% haha
@Nightcrawler71 Have you gotten many armor upgrades? A lot of people seem to miss these. I spent a lot of the game in Froggy Armor since it was the easiest by far to upgrade to 60 defense, and at that point it takes a Lynel to deal more than a couple of hearts of damage.
I beat the game after 175 plus hours. Did all the main quest, got all the shrines, armour, and light roots. Did a good chunk of the side quests but my overall progress I'm guessing was maybe 70ish percent? Kinda hard to tell with a game this massive.
I got my money's worth from the game and loved it but won't be going back to it anytime soon.
I am still at 50% in BOTW. Have not played that for two years. But I will get back to it and finish it some day. I still really like the game.
Eventually I will also get to play TOTK in the far future. Maybe the remastered version on the Switch 3? :-) I am looking forward to it actually, but I also know I will need to take a long break from Zelda after I have finished BOTW.
Currently I am busy with Baldur's Gate 3 on GeForce Now. What a game as well! But I also know that I will need a break from that at some point, and then I will return to BOTW and hopefully beat it!
I prefer traditional, linear stories versus thee open world that has been set forth as precedent the past few years from our favorite developers. Just not for me considering work/life occurs too
saying that I enjoyed the story just as much as BoTW and was captivated by the final boss and sequences. I did not overturn every rock to reveal their secrets
I didn't realise you could see a completion percentage on this one. I only noticed the 'star' next to my save.
I did 280 hours but have already sold the game.
I'll have to borrow my mates copy to check at some point just like I planned if they announce dlc for 2024.
@NorthwestEagle im around 50 hours in 2 temples completed and really pushing myself to enjoy this game rather than rushing thru and pretending I'm having fun grinding my way thru
Not sure about the completion rate, but I have 64 shrines, 46 Lightroots and 136 Korok seeds. One temple done, plus many sidequests.
Really enjoying my time with it. The most fun I had with a Zelda game.
I archived the game after finishing, so I can't check (I don't know if I'm happy I don't know my percentage or not). I spent just under 200 hours on the game, and did every side quest, side adventure, shrine, light root, sage's will, full compendium, and all armor collected.
I did not get every korok seed, upgrade all armor to max, or do every Hudson sign.
100% it, with every shrine, lightroot, korok seed, gem, side quest and almost anything you can think. Just missing some of the medals for beating mini bosses and some Hudson signs. 200+ hours, surely I'll come back for finishing if a dlc is released, otherwise...
This game really fell off for me. After about 55 hours I just didn't care anymore. I still haven't gone back to it. Which is weird. Breath of the Wild I've completed four times, yet this game underwhelms me.
130 hours in and I still haven't beat all of the temples yet. Hahaha!
I finished 3 of the 4 "regional phenomena," then I unwisely decided to activate all the lightroots. Which I have completed, but was such a tedious slog with zero reward that I'm kinda taking an indefinite break from the game for the moment. I'm sure I'll pick it up again, probably in the winter.
Done. Completed it on Saturday. 100% on the map screen 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 270 hours
59.30% at 190 hours in. :'D
I ain't going for 100% though if only because of the koroks. The rest I'll probably try to do.
0% because one of my third graders (rightfully) convinced me to actually finish Breath of the Wild first, so I’ve been (joyfully) clearing as much of it as possible this summer. Beat Calamity Ganon, and now just wrapping up shrines, leveling up gear, and finding those pesky Koroks. Such a fantastic game! I’d love to say I’ll start Tears of the Kingdom soon, but…
🔥🔥🔥 ARMORED CORE 🔥🔥🔥
Haven't got a clue but i am 100+ hours in and barely started the story.
I did not do any of the story missions for at least 20 hours. I hit the ground after the opening segment and just started running. Spent time talking to people. Built a jet ski and travelled the shoreline. Went through the labyrinth island. I even wandered the depths for quite awhile. Finally, after all of that, I made my way back to Hyrule Castle and the hub area and got my new Sheikah Slate (Purah Pad.... BAH!). Since then I have done many more quests, but only a few of the main storyline's. On top of that I've been going back to THE WITCHER 3, REMNANT: FROM THE ASHES, and FORESPOKEN on PS5. Soooo.... I imagine I will be playing TOTK for the next 2 years, lol.
Over 150 hours in, but I have no idea of my current percentage. I haven't beaten it yet, so don't know what my current number is
@NorthwestEagle kinda me too.
I played a lot of BOTW and then put it down for a long time. I picked it back up and finally beat it before TOTK came out because I thought, I better because this new game is a sequel.
That actually worked against me because it feels like I have to redo everything and it feels like work.
I only have 15 hours in and I dunno… I’m sure I’ll go back to it but it’s just too overwhelming right now and it doesn’t feel different enough.
Someday… someday I’ll go back…
@Purgatorium
Ahahaha so spot on for my situation as well. Can't tell the nr of times I've planned on going to the last temple but a cave or whatever distract me instead.
Kinda feeling half bored, but for some reason I still sidetrack in yet another "what if there is something cool in this direction". Sadly most of the treasures are - to me - a letdown since either energy or small treats for fans rather than something really useful/powerful (and most cool armor can't be upgraded :/). Still has me hooked on that "just one more look" but sadly no real thrill or "magic" like I had with BoTW.
I reached the credits in mid-July with 85.6% completion. I knew I'd done a lot but I was still surprised it was such a high number
Finished it at just below ~150h. 100% completion? Of course not. Finding all the Koroks, Bubbulgems and grinding to upgrade all armor just for the sake of it is a total waste of time in my opinion.
Other than that finished all the side quests and things I wanted.
Amazing game, but don't think I will be ever coming back to it.
I don't know what my percentage is, but I finished the game around 180hours.
As with all open world games of this sort, I keep going until I feel like I've done all I want to do that's fun. I did all the side-quests, all the shrines, found all the tears, lightroots, colliseums, Gleelocks and such and upgraded the armor sets I used most to max and then I went and then finished the game.
Stuff like Korok seeds or the Bubbul gems or finding all the sign posts is just tedious busy work to me and I stopped doing those once I got the upgrades to where I wanted. The signposts I only did the ones I came across naturally and didn't actively seek them out.
I did spend a lot of time just playing around with the building of things. Vehicles, weapons and such. That was great fun.
I like the freedom this type of game gives in that regard. Do as much as you want.
Only got it in last week, and only put some real time into it over the weekend, so I've only begun to scratch the surface.
I've only completed about 16 Shrines (this includes the 4 on the tutorial sky island), activated 2 towers (this includes the one in town), and collected 1 Dragon Tear (the tutorial one where Impa accompanies you).
I haven't yet had the chance to go back up to the sky or venture into a chasm, let alone do any of the main dungeons.
0 hours & I don’t ever plan on playing TOTK
it's installed on my switch but i haven't had the time to play it yet, been on a Pokémon marathon and 5 stared super Mario 3d world, started up bowsers story and playing that then it's back to Pokémon sword
@CMS_Glalie Honestly, my problem is the time investment these games seem to demand, and all the other open world action games out there competing for my time.
Beat the final boss and stopped playing over a month ago on July 6th, didn’t even know about the % on the map.
54.61% and I believe I’m right about 150 hours. It was enough for me.
Also just finished the 2nd ending for Pikmin 4. So that’s it for Switch and I until Wonder. Next up my PS5 backlog - GoW:R, GotG, Kena Bridge of Spirits - all courtesy of my local public library.😁
Does it actually give you a number for completion %? I'll have to check. I did what I consider to be 100%, but it's probably around 80-90%. I completed the story (obviously), completed every shrine, activated every lightroot, collected every piece of armor and upgraded most of it, and I have full health/stamina. I collected enough korok seeds to unlock all inventory slots.
I tapped out on collecting every korok seed, upgrading every piece of armor completely (I'll never get enough dragon parts or star fragments), and completing every single side quest. I played about 180 hours. Every second of it was absolutely awesome, but I can't ever picture myself doing it again.
@Goofonzo You're probably just feeling burnt out. Take a break and when you come back maybe dedicate yourself to beating a main story mission.
For me, finding the memories and unlocking the 15 different regional skytowers and exploring the newly changed regions was a strong motivator for me...and then of course there's the entire depths and all of the stuff to see and find down there.
"Played for 185 hours or more"
I can't yet tell you the percentage.
I haven't got that far.
I enjoy the aimless wandering.
It’s a masterpiece in almost every aspect, yes, but it’s also what is wrong with AAA games today in my opinion; it’s like having an extra job. The amount of hours a single game can take, has become ridiculous.
How the hell is somebody supposed to get the full experience, if they have a life outside of the game?
That being said, I recently beat it after dedicating an hour or two each day since release, playing nothing else. Honestly, wasn’t that fun because by the end of it, I was just really, really craving for it to be over with. It was just so ***** long.
Going from this into Pikmin however, it made me appreciate that even more. Like, Pikmin 4 is insanely good, and from a flow perspective, it’s MILES ahead of TOTK.
0%. I was able to wait out the $70 price tag and pick it up on sale, but I'm still waiting until I beat BotW.
I ended up deciding to bail out on it, went ahead and beat it while I still had two dungeons, like half the shrines, and one of the memories left. Game's just too bloated to where I decided I really just didn't want to play it anymore and not sure I'll do so again, actually rather regret buying it.
275 hours+ and only 62% ... Ive done everything I care to. All quests/side quests/adventures, "Areas" discovered, all wells, full battery cells, all armour/horses fully upgraded, all shrines/lightroots, all BIG enemies, maps, sages wills, all Gerudo vehicle/schemas. Ive got "TOTK Undiscovered" app which says I need to kill tons more identical monsters like hinox and frox's, sign guys, Bubbul gems and Koroks ... I thought id want to 100% but the post-game is just too monotonous and boring. It would realistically take me another 250+ hours to do.... and thats with me already knowing the locations of everything left to do. There really was no need to have 900 Koroks/100 sign guys/82 frox's etc.... it just isnt fun and took the shine off of what was an absolutely beautiful game.
Apart from the Light roots, I've done everything but beat the final boss (except all the Koroks, cause I ain't doing that). I was beginning to think I was just taking an abnormally long time, since I've had it since launch, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't beaten it.
Remarkably, despite being way larger in size, it took less time for me to beat TOTK than BOTW (150 hours vs 220 hours). I assume this has to do with the faster methods of traversal: Ascend often makes climbing unnecessary, Tulin's gust makes gliding quicker, and Zonai vehicles (i.e. the fan hoverbike) are quite fast in general. Being familiar with the layout of the surface map probably also helped here too.
Curious if this applies to anyone else.
I feel kinda bad, I bought it on launch, played a couple hours, loved it, and then got sucked into other games. I really want to start back into it, but other games keep eating my limited time.(curse you diablo 4 and baldurs gate 3)
Less than 50, but probably won't try to get anywhere above that. I got fatigued after a month of playing every day, so I decided to just beat the game and haven't turned it on since heh...
Zero. Expensive DLC is expensive.
It's lovely to see so many people here not endlessly mindlessly gushing about the expansion here either. A ton of people seemed to have gotten bored and moved on. Understandable, it's the exact same game you bought before.
About half. I got most of the srhines, have done most of the quests and such, but those dang Korok seeds. Lol
@theModestMouse For the love of God, please tell me this was a joke.
I don't know or care, I'm done with the game after 120 hours and I don't think I will play it again. I enjoyed it a lot while it lasted but it really has no replay value.
I was only interested in the story, but I would count that as a 100% completion. Really fun game though. Who has not done any of the stupid korok things? I did one and stopped doing that. Tears of the Koroks, but man people torcher those things
Edit:
Torture Lol
0%, might get the game by Christmas.
It's hard for me to really dig into... it isn't as good as Breath of the Wild by virtue that it isn't a standalone story that you could jump into without having played the first. Even Majora's Mask and The Adventure of Link didn't really require you to know anything at all about the prior entry. Just feels like BotW Expansion Pass prime Plus rewards program.
Ok, I have a confession
I still haven’t finished BotW I’ve had it since it came out and still not finished it
Want to know something even worse!
I have TotC collectors still sitting fully sealed as I haven’t had chance to play it yet.
I know I’m a bad person, may you all throw stones at me and call me a non gamer if you wish.
As you can imagine I can’t vote as the option of “I haven’t played it although I have it” isn’t available
Sorry all
I wasn't a fan of BoTW, at all. It didn't feel like a Zelda game to me, made me miss the OoT style. ToTK was better, and for a while I enjoyed it. But it didn't hold my interest for long. I beat the elemental temples (I think I was still on the thunder one), got a few tears/memories, some armor upgrades... And my interest fizzled out. Moved on to Fire Emblem Engage and had a blast with that, and don't see myself coming back to ToTK any time soon.
Not my cup of tea
I’m not actually sure what the percentage is, but I did put it down once I beat the main boss. Fully intend to get back into it someday and do all the side quests that I left unfinished, though.
As with BOTW, I plan to finish all the side quests, find all the shrines, and complete the map (or, in this case, maps) before even heading to the final battle.
Better pack a lunch. I'll be a while.
I beat the final boss 2 weeks ago for the first time but I was far from done. Didn't even do the spirit temple until just last week. Found the Master Sword yesterday. There's still so much I have left to do, I'm just taking my time and enjoying it all at my pace.
@JayJ so true, these days i don't even have time to turn on my PS5, if you are invested in one console with many games that take a lot of time to complete, it becomes more difficult to play them, if anything i would rather play skyward sword HD instead, far more shorter and is traditional Zelda formula
@Classic603 you are not alone on that thought ☺
215 hours, 130 shrines, 117 light roots and a ton of fun. I am waiting for some good free time to finish the end. I am SO glad that I took a break from game media. The first time a tree attacked me was hilarious.
I have not played a single other game for three months, which is a first for me since I usually play multiple games at once.
For me, TotK is the GoAT!
I’ve been much better at starting games than finishing them lately. I’ve played 45h of it and am at the end of the 3rd main quest dungeon that I have played. I should get back to this game. I’ll finish the main story at some point. I am not sure how much I will do beyond that. Probably not much, I am not a completionist at all. I do tend to feel bad about not finishing the main story of games though when I don’t do that, so I usually try to do that eventually for the majority of games.
I dunno, I'd have to boot the game up. I've done all the shrines, lightroots, temples, and towers but haven't found all the caves, chasms, compendium entries, or Koroks. I'd guess maybe 30%? IIRC BotW allocated a huge chunk of completion to the Korok seeds, screw that noise.
I have the shrines and labyrinths to do, but I'm not really interested in doing those.
I've done the story, got the tears, got the towers, got most of the side quests (outside busy work), explored most of the the depths.
I refuse to do the koroks, caves, and compendoum
Amusingly, after playing the game for about a month or so before getting burned out, I have within a single percent of the author's roughly 40%. No intent of doing the Koroks. I've actually gotten fewer of them than in BotW.
@NorthwestEagle I’m with you. I’ve cleared two of the regional phenomena. There’s definitely been some cool stuff… but in between every cool, fresh thing, is like 20hours of repetitive boring slog. Hunting out shrines, finding memories, clearing yet more bokoblin camps, etc. every once in a while is a cool side quest or something. I’m finding the main story quests to be pretty great. But everything in the game that isn’t a quest is so similar to BotW that I find it boring. BotW I couldn’t put down. TotK I’m playing about an hour a night and I’m ready to take a break.
Kinda like the first game, did the 4 main dungeons and...I lost interest with the game and moved on to other stuff. :/
@Lizuka 🙄 There are games that struggle to provide the consumer with even a dozen solid hours of engaging gameplay yet you regret buying a game that gave you dozens upon dozens because you can't just focus on the main content towards completion?
The game is as long as you want (to an extent). You don't have to 100% it.
Didn’t feel the need to complete it, and I’ll just kind of finish all the shrines as my mood fancies another go at it, but I’ve moved on to other games. I did finish it, story and all, got most of the roots and shrines, and with 120 hours or so on the clock I definitely got my money’s worth. It’d be hard to call it a bad game, but I’d say it’s a big heap of missed potential and I feel more fulfilled with the experiences I’ve had with other games since.
Idk, haven't beaten it yet.
120+ hours in and I think I’m at 41%? I still have a ton of stuff I need to do but I’m trying to take a small break from it
I think I’ve put in about 50 hours and I’ve finished 2 temples, barely done anything underground, collected 2 memories, and have found 52 koroks. The world is massive, I constantly get sidetracked, and I wish I had more time in the day to tackle this game.
While I really enjoy the game, I’m thinking about taking a break and tryout out Ori and the Will of the Wisps. I know it got good reviews and I really enjoyed the first game.
@theModestMouse a rare negative take from you! Also, you ARE a big Overwatch 2 fan, so maybe you are the go-to-guy when it comes to big AAA companies making dlc and calling them sequels?
@Switch_Pro only as much as your imagination will allow...
Honestly, I don't know what my completion rate is, since I haven't beaten the game yet. I know I've got a LONG way to go on Side Quests, Side Adventures, Korok Seeds, Bubbul Gems, armor, weapons, etc.
I haven't beaten the game yet, and I haven't been playing it for about a month, but I've poured 220 hours into it.
I think I'd found about 130 shrines BEFORE even getting my hands on the shrine sensor (which has now arguably exhausted its usefulness ). There was a LOT of early game features that I hadn't unlocked until over 100+ hours in (and beyond), and upon speaking to some early game NPCs that I'd missed, I've got so many objectives done that I'm just sitting through strings of dialogue and given reward after reward.
So far, I've only completed the Rito Village regional phenomena quest, but I have unlocked the Goron City and Gerudo Town quests, which I will probably jump into the next time I play.
I've also found about 200 or so Korok seeds so far.
I've been trying to play the game with little to no spoilers, so, I've had a blast. I'll try and gun for all of the regional phenomena before taking on the final boss, and maybe then I'll spoil myself in order to find the last of the shrines and accumulate enough Korok seeds to maximise my inventory space. I've upgraded a lot of my armour, but I have a bit of work to do in that regard as well.
@Bizzyb I regret buying it because ultimately I feel like to me it wasn't worth the money I put into it. It's not like I just up and went, "Well, that's enough," abruptly after loving every second of it up to that point, I just plain wasn't enjoying it enough to bother engaging with all its content so I beat it to put a bow on it then set it aside.
God people need to learn that even if everyone else loves something there's nothing wrong with other people not doing so. You loved TotK and thought it was worth the money, great, I'm happy for you. I didn't.
only about half way through the main quest and am kind of bored. there's so many things to do and they're all so pointless and repetitive.
0-9%. I was hyped for it but it hasn't kept my attention.
190 hours, got all shrines and lightroots, completed all temples, beat the final boss, and I'm at around 60%. I got tired of trying to find all the caves / Bubul frogs, Addison locations, etc. Absolutely no way I am going to try and find all the Korok seeds.
I love how much content Nintendo crammed into this game, but I doubt very much I will ever attempt to "90 percent" the game like I did Breath of the Wild - that is, everything except Korok seeds.
I've completed main campaign, and want to go back and fleshbgame out a little more, but don't know what it is, its like it's too much hard work sometimes.
It's a game you need to spend hours in with nothing significant happening at times, kind of exhausting?
I find botw a little more simpler and easier going back to
Voted this morning, then beat it this evening. The ending was pretty great, but the leadup to it left me wishing it actually was linear. Every line of dialogue seems to assume that it is. Link is kind of a jerk for not telling everyone what he knows, if you did things out of order, which includes doing the memories at all.
Anyway, 75.84% with everything useful unlocked. That's 420 Koroks (max upgrades), all shrines, all Lightroots, all Sage's Wills, all Bubbulgems, all unique armor pieces, and I think all unique weapons. And honestly the last bits were not fun. 295 hours, although a lot of that was screwing around with machines. I can't imagine extending the game by another third.
3 hours in and i stopped , bored as hell , just before putting the game back in the box and resell it
Over 230 hours and I'm at 52.something%. Thought it would be lower. BOTW was my favorite game until this one. Over and over and over I've been blown away by how awesome and surprising this game is. I still have tons to explore, but my main favorite thing right now is building random ridiculous flying machines using right leg depot elevator railings. That one item is like infinite DLC for me! I just use 1 or 2 fans, throw some light blooms on it, and cruise around the awesome world of this game. I've still been enjoying BOTW the past few months, it feels like they are one game to me- just with different modes or aspects. Now I'm just dreaming of a 60fps (or higher!) version on Nintendo's next console!
I bounced off this pretty hard, for me personally I think I'd have prefered waiting to play this on Nintendo's next console and instead have received Metroid Prime 4 in TotK place on Switch
I’ve stopped playing only done one dungeon. But I’ll be back. There’s something about botw and totk in it’s design I get bored of that I never do with previous Zelda games I don’t know what it is maybe just the shear scale of it 🤷🏻♂️
I'm over 200 hours and must be close to completing now, having just got the 5th sage.
Missing about 10 shrines and lightroots, and 5 sages wills which I will try and do before the finale.
This game wasn’t even close to good enough to warrant completionism. I even went in without knowing anything. Muted everything I could and just waited for it to launch only to be pissed off at how soulless this was. Just a bunch of busywork and being frustrated at the essentials they removed. I felt the drag set in when all mechanics presented were defeated by rocks. It takes forever to get through rocks in this game. But don’t worry they know it sucks so there’s always a rusty claymore inside each rock pit so you can continue. Among other issues this game was just crap. Beat it once and put it down never touched again. Maybe someday again. It’s my favorite franchise and this entry was just garbage. And it was bumped in price. A bump in price and the majority of the work was done already. Nintendo will begin a new era of greed soon.
Played 70 hours and then took a break from it a few weeks ago. Haven't gone back yet but certainly expecting to fairly soon, just wanted to play something different as I can definitely relate to all those commenting above me that didn't particularly enjoy it.
I was hoping for a Hyrule even more beautiful and natural then the one we got in BotW, but what we got instead was uglier and more artificial. And yes, the crappy items in chests aspect feels even more pronounced in TotK.
I don't like the way they've 'broken' BotW.
I still enjoy playing TotK, but I'm not close to loving it the way I love BotW. Not yet, anyhow...
@Magician Same, I'll eventually get around it.
0-9%, and prob won't pick it up again for a long while, if ever. I miss the old Zelda, especially 2D style.
Tears of the Kingdom has a completion percentage gauge? Well I never...
Haven't even done all the sage quests yet. I've gotten a decent amount of shrines, but a big chunk of my playtime goes to looking for armor and doing random sidequests.
When I first played ToTK, my launch Switch cooling fan was giving out, so I was limited on how much I could play. I made it to the end of the game's tutorial sky island and then got a new Switch OLED shortly after...ironically enough the ToTK edition. I have yet to go back to ToTK since getting that new Switch and replacing the cooling fan in my launch system. I don't know when I'll be returning to the game.
My brother (doesn't have kids or pets) beat it in two months. But he likes to swallow his games whole.
I'm LOVING TotK but I play some, set it aside and play something else then come back to it. I figured at this pace I'll beat it by 2025 --- which I'm totally ok with.
@wolvesboy I am in exactly the same boat XD
@LikelySatan I can use my imagination in much more productive ways than playing a video game for hundreds of hours. Ain't anybody got time for that. It's good for kids though.
Where's the option for I still need to buy this game?
@Switch_Pro owned. By your Mario avatar. On this toy maker's enthusiast website.
Just beat the main campaign. During the first part of the final fight I was literally down to one last heart. I had run out of gloom cures and that was the only heart that was not gloom-affected. It was do-or-die..
Funnily enough, I had completed 8 more shrines before embarking on the final quest and exchanged the lights of blessing for 2 stamina vessels... before reloading the save and deciding on 1 stamina vessel and 1 heart container instead.
Definitely the best game experience of my life. 135 hours over the course of two and a half months. The map screen now shows 44% completion.
Perhaps some substantial DLC will pull me back in, but, for now, I feel that all good things must come to an end.
@LikelySatan What are you talking about? I didn't mean it as an insult that it's for kids. It literally is great for kids. But I don't have the time to spend pointlessly making contraptions. That's my entire point. If I was younger, maybe I would.
Oh I'm a jerk. You know, people tell me that I'm a jerk and I ignore them. Hmmmmmm...
To put it simply: I still haven't beaten the final boss yet.
@Lizuka Fair enough, I've just never heard someone use the word "regret" when referring to a videogame unless the game was downright broken or they had absolutely no enjoyment from it whatsoever (not even enough to beat it).
Maybe you should sell it and get some money back from it? And yea...sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it even after actually beating it
47.75% from 105 hours.
Getting to the boss was harder than the boss.
