Horror movie action comes to the Super Nintendo console.

Every once in a while a game is released that's so unique it garners a cult following and becomes more popular years later than when it was first released. Toe Jam & Earl for the Sega Genesis is one such game, but another prime example would be..

Would have liked all the previous comments for this game on here to have been retained from when it was previously rated but I guess that was too much to hope for.

Not too surprising that this game would be re-rated for the VC.

Sure would have been nice to see all the old comments. Should've been well into the three digits. ^^

All right! Looks like we're finally getting this amazing game after all! Hopefully this is the start of a future Maniac Mansion VC release announcement and other license companies jumping aboard.

I had almost given up hope. Please bring this out!

This should give hope of an Earthbound VC release. If LucasArts can do licensed games, then Nintendo can certantly bring out Earthbound.

Chances of that game releasing on the Virtual Console is more likely and Zombies Ate My Neighbors is guarantee.

One of my favorite SNES games, as well as a top co-op title. (despite the screen limitations)

The SNES version had split screen multiplayer? I remember the Genesis version didn't. Probably another reason why I prefer the Genesis version. That and I hate the purple blood game over screen in this version. Always thought it was ugly unlike the Genesis' one with red blood comin' down which looks awesome.

@Kevin - Nope. The SNES didn't have split screen. By limitations, I just meant the hassle of having to stay together in the single screen ratio. It felt like tug-of-war on occasion, but it's not a real complaint.

I think the Genesis version sounds terrible, so I can live with purple blood. I usually don't like Genesis versions anyway, due to sound quality... or lack thereof. Some people are the exact opposite though, and I won't hate on their nostalgia. Different strokes, different consoles, different folks. Most of us were limited to only having one system back then, so it's not a big deal. (as long as they don't put the Genesis version on the VC) :p

Well, I'm sold. Having read RVGFanatic's review of it gave me a good impression. Having watched the video just now, it gives me a good impression. I think I'll try this someday, and maybe the sequel Ghoul Patrol (if at all the sequel to this game is good). :)

Then why don't you just edit your post instead of writing a double post?

If LucasArts can do licensed games, then Nintendo can certantly bring out Earthbound.

No it doesn't. Star Wars belongs to LucasArts so its not licensed to them from somebody else. Plus this has no bearing on other games from other companies. What one company may be able to do with one licensed game doesn't mean all licensed games are potentially available. Whether a game gets released or not is up to the individual companies involved.

I own the Genesis version and the sound really doesn't bother me. I also actually like the black bar on the side with the map, weapons, and life info. Didn't like all that stuff on the actual playing screen in the SNES version.

Yeah Nintendo good job. Step in the right direction for sure, we've been waiting for this one. This would be good for the haloween season, or for christmas. I hope it happens this year

Please release the (faster and less censored) US version in Europe...

By the way, Ghoul Patrol isn't a "real sequel". The original ZAMN team had nothing to do with its development, and it wasn't even going to feature the same characters, originally.

My kids and I had a great time playing it. The chainsaw guys got a few screams from my 13 year old daughter. Cool sound effects and music, a perfect game for Halloween.

Nice to hear MickyWill!

I remember being disapointed at first when my dad brought this home for me he was like "This was on sale at Wal-Mart!!"
I was thinking "oh geez, a cheesy zombie game with a bland corny title."

I COULD NEVER THANK MY FATHER ENOUGH for introducing me to such a fun challenging and creative classic!!
