Retail Wii U games not published by Nintendo are rare things nowadays, but this week Nordic Games did bring The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 to the system. It also seems that the publisher, surprisingly, isn't quite finished with Nintendo's home console.
Reinhard Pollice, Business & Product Development Director and Executive Producer at Nordic Games, was asked on Twitter whether the company had any more games coming to the Wii U; the answer was rather positive.
A reference to Action / Adventure could point to a variety of things; a reasonable bet could be the original Darksiders. Nintendo's console has Darksiders II already, but with Nordic pushing that release in promotions since it took over the IP - it even featured in the most recent eShop Humble Bundle - it could be a smart move to let Wii U owners catch up on the first game. A port also seems more feasible than an entirely new game, too.
Ultimately it's all unknown, but it's rather nice to know that the company isn't finished with the Wii U yet.

Considering I have a facepalm gif to spare after my lame-pun-reaction in another article's comment section, here's something to react to the rarity of third-party Wii U games with. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Colbert!
I hope it's not Darksiders related, and especially not a mere port of an old game. That would be so anticlimactic.
Lol thanks, Nordic. One of the only guys still giving the Wii U a chance. These guys deserve good faith on NX. I really hope this situation opens up people's eyes that Nintendo needs 3rd party support on console really badly.
@ricklongo
Maybe it's Darksiders 3, who knows?
@Blast
I did open my eyes; hence the GIF.
I would like to see more Darksiders on the Wii U, but I'm not against seeing a new/different IP appear either.
Either way, this tweet is a breath of fresh air compared to how most third parties are handling the Wii U platform.
I very much liked darksiders 2, and have never played the first one. I would definitely pick it up should it be released
If it is a great port of Darksiders then I'm interested.
I'd certainly buy darksiders one, but I'm not completely sure that's the title. Action adventure could be many different games. I'm thinking something like legend of kay again as that suits the audience
Darksiders would be awesome!
Nordic Games actually has released quite a few Wii U games, so hats off for them. I'm interested, and might buy Darksiders or even Legend of Kay sequel. Book of Unwritten Tales is not my cup of tea, sadly.
It would be really cool if they could patch Darksiders II to run slightly better on Wii U. Failing that, I can't wait to see what they've got in store.
Well, whether it is going to be Darksiders or Legend of Kay 2, it is nice to see a third party publisher/developer still making an effort on Wii U, so hats off to Nordic Games.
@AlexSora89 What picture?
@ricklongo Well, I think it would actually be realistic to expect the first Darksiders game, since the Wii U is almost end of life, so it is something of a miracle that they're willing to publish anything at all.
@ach I thought the first one was pretty good and it got favorable reviews in general, scoring an average of 8.3 on all consoles. (Xbox360/PS3) If that type of game is something you like, then I'm pretty sure that you will not regret giving it a try.
@A01 Exactly. Part 3 is not going to happen on Wii U.
I would love to play the first Darksiders since I played the second one on Wii U. Bring it on!
Nice one! I'll pick, whatever it is, up!
@polarbear That feels more likely than an entirely new title. I could see them doing some kind of collection of "Definitive Editions" on the other platforms, and maybe a port of the original for the Wii U.
Well, that's interesting news. Hopefully it's something good, I liked DS 2 and the first one.
Fair play to them, doing what Nintendon't. I'll support them. I bought The Book of Unwritten Tales 2. I hope it's something good and ambitious.
A port of the original Darksiders make the most sense. Anything else would be far too risky money-wise considering it'll be a Wii U game.
Happy that Nordic stuck with Wii U owners. I wouldn't the original Darksiders at all, though I would like the framerate to be a bit better than II on Wii U.
Or they could bring us Darksiders collection, but nah, they'll milk us for what we have.
I would love a port of the original Darksiders game, it was a very fun game that I would gladly revisit on the Wii U.
Loved darksiders, waiting on 3 if it ever happens. Please please please
Well good on them if this turns out to be accurate!
I for one, had a great time with Darksiders 2!! One of the few games I downloaded to my Wii U. Think I scooped it up for next to nothing in one of the sales a long time ago.
Pretty fun "Zelda-like" adventure with fun action & exploration, and as well good combat and fighting mechanics/combos.
It ran fine, and didn't seem like a lazy port either. If I recall correctly, the only Wii U "exclusive" feature was the Off-TV play, which I used pretty frequently.
@RainbowGazelle What are you talking about?? In my experience the game ran fine, with little to no hiccups.
My experience with darksiders 2 on wii u was perfect. Eagerly awaiting a sequel though a revamped version of the original would keep me happy for a while
Like a lot darksiders 2, hope to play more of it.
More New of Nintendo VR release and a week in review of gaming

I really enjoyed Darksiders, it was a lot more focused than II, which was a pretty great game too. If they ported it to Wii U, I'd totally get it.
The original Darksiders would be neat, but honestly, I have no idea what to expect. Good to hear they have something, though.
Darksiders day 1
Couple of months ago I had no Darksiders, now I have the original for peanuts from PSN Store for PS3, and a digital and disc copy of D2 for Wii U, so I'd prefer something else, but I applaud their support.
I would love too see the first one on the Wii U Darksiders 2 was brilliant I had no probs playing thru it but it could be Arcania also or something completely different.
@ThanosReXXX
You weren't the pungeon master in that case, so don't worry. It was a reaction to another lame pun, by @BensonUii IIRC, at the https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/06/japan_has_voted_for_its_favourite_pokemon_and_its_not_pikachu article.
@DiscoGentleman
A man can dream...
@AlexSora89 I know, I was just curious about the picture...
@ThanosReXXX
Ok, here's the reaction pic you wanted: a facepalm for every article you see fit for it!
I'll buy whatever they make for Wii U because, as this point in time of the U's lifespan, any third party developer that sticks with the Wii U and still make retail games for it deserve our support in the form of purchase.
Super Dungeon Bros port?
I hope it's Broken Age. I haven't played yet and would like to play it on my TV instead of PC. But I'm sure that's not it.
@Dark-Link73 absolutely, I bought Book of Unwritten Tale II today and I'll grab pretty much anything interesting that shows up via retail from here on out.
As for Nordic's game I'll take whatever it is. Darksiders would be great since I've never played it. I don't own a Microsoft or Sony console anymore.
Never played Darksiders.... So if it is a port of the original, I'd like to give it a try.
Wow, this could actually be something worthwhile. Gonna keep them ears to the ground for this one.
I've played the PC version of Darksiders and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would definitely double dip and get a Wii U port if they do it
I picked up the first game for pennies on PS3 so I'm not jumping at the chance a port of the original is in the cards for Wii U. I am however pleasantly surprised Nordic has any interest in Wii U at this point in the game. Good on them!
I don't see why more publishers wouldn't be releasing stuff for Wii U. Yes it's dying, but it still has an install base of 13m or whatever, and at this point the pickings are so thin that the attach rate for any new game must be pretty immense.
@A01 To be fair, people were saying that Bayonetta, let alone Bay 2, would never happen on the Wii U, either.
We all know how that prediction turned out.
Who knows what's possible anymore, honestly?
I'd get Darksiders 3 on Wii U if it did become a thing.
Heck I might even go for the first Darksiders, since I own and like the second game on Wii U already and would love to expand my knowledge of the series a bit, given the opportunity on a current gen console like the Wii U.
Bundle with a remake of the first game, and the Deathfinitive edition.
I would really love it if they could address some of the issues with Darksiders 2, specifically the screen tearing. I have the game, both physical and digital (the latter from the Humble Bundle), but the screen tearing really screws with my eyes. Even got a headache once when trying to force myself to play it. I liked what I played, but it was too much for me.
Really hope it is the first darksiders. I got it on my PC on Black Friday but it just doesn't run right. The frame rate is terrible (obviously not blaming the game; it's my computer that can run it).
I loved Darksiders II quite a lot and I'd definitively be interested in playing the first one, even though it may not be just as good... If the port is decent, I'd buy it for sure.
I can't see it being darksiders, there is no way a port of the original will sell well at all with how many times it's been given away for free unless it has a ton of work put into it. Not Darksiders 3 for obvious reasons.
Gah I'd be all over that! Darksiders 2 was exquisite, its few technical hiccups aside.
I've bought the first Darksiders twice already but you can bet your butt that I'd buy an enhanced version for Wii U.
Dark siders 1-3 yes please!
I really hope its Darksiders 1, but it could also be Darksiders 3. Not exclusive, but multiplatform. If its Darksiders 3, that's just as awesome!
I am currently playing through Darksiders 2 and like it a lot!
I sincerely hope they give us the original. DS II is one of my fav games of all time.
I would pick up a port of darksiders
@Andyliini I might check those out after I have gone through the 5 year sale on Wii U, (had fun buying 98% of the discounts on 3DS only cost me 60 nintendo money)
Darksiders II wasn't perfect, but I enjoyed it; being able to play the first part would certainly be cool. Hopefully the pricing will be more reasonable than what they tried to pitch the DSII download at.
