If you're not familiar with the Nintendo 64 mouse, after this video you certainly will be. YouTube channel Critbox has managed to complete Super Mario 64 - collecting 70 stars and defeating Bowser - using this rare and official peripheral.
Exclusive to Japan, the old-school ball mouse was bundled with the 1999 Nintendo 64DD title, Mario Artist: Paint Studio. It has two buttons - acting as A and B - and relies on swiping movements to mimic the analog stick on the Nintendo 64 controller. Unsurprisingly, Critbox found the mouse to be exceptionally accurate when firing Mario out of cannons.
Is this the most impressive gaming feat yet? This follows a Mexican speedrunner who recently completed the infamous Turbo Tunnel in Battletoads blindfolded and various other people in the past who have beat games using DDR dance mats and racing wheels.
Take a look at the supercut video above and tell us if you're impressed.

Only real gamers use the Nintendo 64 mouse
This man is post-human. He has evolved beyond the limits of homo sapiens.
What? ... Tips hat Well, good day.
I started to comment saying it doesn't look that hard and I feel like I could pull it off. But then I realized he has no camera control.
It would still be fun to try though. It's definitely not the most impressive gaming feat I've ever seen, but now that blind guy who beat Ocarina of Time with save states and 3D headphones... that was impressive stuff.
Edit: Just to clarify, I only watched a random snippet of the video, so this could very well be the greatest gaming accomplishment since virtual sliced bread, but on paper this doesn't sound all that impossible.
The N64 had a mouse?
What games used that?
talented = bored
Why can’t these losers actually do something meaningful with their lives?
@Not_Soos I haven’t watched the video yet myself, but going from the article it would seem that he also doesn’t have access to Z for backflip or long jump.
one thing it got from that video is, i never realised you could hold backwards to slow down on the iceslide.
@Zeraki Well, StarCraft 64 would be playable if it used it.
@Zeraki Mario Paint for the n64dd
@Orwellianson Why assume doing something exceptional and interesting to others precludes them from doing other things that are "meaningful" with their life?
@aaronsullivan it’s not the least bit interesting at all; he’s a loser and he’s wasting time and his life with such a stupid video.
@Orwellianson I mean he's likely making money off the video/stream, so I don't see how it's any more a waste of time than playing a video game on his own free time. As long as it helps him pay the bills and it's something he enjoys, I don't see the problem with it.
Video games in general are a waste of time, you could be spending your time doing something else "meaningful" instead of playing video games.
@Zeraki practice what you preach, kid. Buzz off.
@EightBitMan It's akin to PC gamers trolling console fan sites.
@Orwellianson Insulting people, and then insulting people who are explaining why you're being insulting makes you far more of a loser than anybody who does things like this.
@Orwellianson
Yet here you are commenting on said video, so I really wonder who is the 'loser' that is 'wasting time and his life with such a stupid video'?
I saw him demonstrate playing Mario 64 with the mouse at a panel earlier today. It was actually insane and hilarious
@Orwellianson
Love you too! X
@Orwellianson What are you up to that's so special?
Anyone writin' articles about you?
