The 1984 NES game Duck Hunt might not have been announced for the Nintendo Switch digital service just yet, but that doesn't mean fans of the NES Zapper title have forgotten about it.
Out of the blue, Candian actor and comedian Seth Rogen has shared a "hot tip" about the original Duck Hunt game that appears to have surprised many people online. In a couple of tweets, Rogen explains how he was playing the game one day with his sister, when he accidentally sat on the controller and found out the duck could be controlled by a second player:
Rogen's belated tip surprised many old-school gamers and celebrities alike. Even the voice of Sonic in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog live-action animation movie chimed in with his own tweet:
Are you surprised by this? Did you know the second player could control the duck in the NES classic Duck Hunt? Are you a fan of Seth Rogen? Tell us in the comments below.

I don't remember where, but I learned about this like a year ago. My mind was blown then!
Things like this are just like the continue trick in Super Mario Bros.: quite a few people do know about it, but it resurfaces as news from time to time and a substantially large amount of people are surprised by it.
I used to mess with my brother and friends with this. It must have been a tip in an issue of Nintendo Power, or maybe I also discovered it by sitting on the controller and moving the duck with my butt?
I'm almost positive it mentions this in the instruction manual. Remember instruction manuals?
@ReaderRagfish Same here. I feel like it may have even said so in the instruction booklet.
My whole life is a lie
@BAN You read an instruction book? What are you, a cop?
I thought this was old news. Did people really not know this?
Agree with everyone that knew this. I'm pretty sure it was in instruction manual as well. Me and my sister used to do this. Anyone know where to find an online copy of the manual?
LOL I was doing this back in 1989
Actually, I'm right, it is in the instructions.

Sure I knew, but I’ll admit I forgot lol
I thought that was just a known part of that game.
He is Canadian, after all
Isn't he supposed to apologize seeing as he just spoiled an entire game? God, I thought Canadians were nicer..
Dang, now I want to try this. Too bad I don't have Duck Hunt.
Totally forgot about it, but yep. I knew that at one point. 😆 I also did not have Twitter.
@Edward_J_Grug_III I don’t get it. But no, I am not and have never been a cop.
I have this game downloaded on the Wii U, and the Manual definitely mentions this. Not really a "secret".
It's the goddarn manual!
So Seth never read things as a child, got it.
I did this to my dad and he couldn’t figure out why the duck got away so fast. Turn, turn, turn!
Its in the manual. But cool. One of those many games not on this NES service but on my Wii U. Lol
@gamerrr72 Poor Jeremy Parish. I like his videos, but he was unaware Pac-Man for Game Boy has a zoomed-out full-maze view mode.
...I expected some sort of super secret discovery...this is "meh".
When you get SMB/Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet from your parents from the pawn shop, manuals just ain't included. Lol
Oh you mean the thing that's on the manual?
27 years later and I'm now learning of this?! Well in all fairness an 3 year old wouldn't think to read instructions on how to shoot a toy gun, or remember if his older brother had an instruction book in the first place.
I knew this and I wasn’t even alive back then! 😃 Can confirm it works, I’ve done it before on my dad’s NES.
Also hey look it’s Ben Schwartz again on this site, awesome he’s a great voice actor
Think I remember figuring that out at some point.
He probably remembered, then he forgot, then after this he remembered again.
Meh I knew about this 16-Bit era ago, even mentioning it under the review comment as well.

I haven’t played Duck Hunt in years. I was gonna get it on Wii U VC, but I never did.
This guy is way to late i knew about this the day the game came out..Sorry kiddo little to late
Yeah I knew
I never knew that either. But even though my Dad had the game and his copy was where I played it as a kid, he was only ever interested in playing Mario 3 with me. lol
Yeah, I learnt this in Dixons in 1988 when we used to play the NES kiosks, I thought this was common knowledge, and why is everything mind blowing these days!
Here's some other '"mind blowing facts" from yesteryear that you all should know or your Nintendo fun club card will be revoked:
Name your character "Zelda" in Legend of Zelda Nes to start the game on the second quest. In Super Mario bros hit the flagpole with either a 1,3 or 6 as the last timer digit for the corresponding amount of fireworks to go off. In Contra, pause the game and press, up, up, down, down... well I shouldn't have to finish this one!
10 things to make your life more exciting!
... number 4 will surprise you!
Clickbaty article title and I thought everyone knew this. Or maybe the article is meant to be sarcastic? I honestly can't tell these days. Next you're going to tell me that "the guy in Zelda" is named Link and that Samus is female.
I accidentally figured that out in 1987 along with Gyromite.
@Edward_J_Grug_III
Airheads reference?
...'secret', huh? :/
Hey Seth, how far are you with your Console Wars movie/docu?
Thank you again for the clickbait, @NintendoLife 👍🏻
@NaviAndMii
Yep...I was about to say, I remember reading this in the manual that came with the game in the mid-80's. Next up:
INSANE SUPER MARIO BROS. HACK FOUND: HOLD B, AND MARIO CAN RUN!!!
Is there a co-op mode where the dog and duck join forces?
@gamerrr72 what are those? 😁 It’s been awhile since mini posters have been included in the purchase of a video game.
duh
IIRC correctly I knew about this during the NES era, and if IIRC as well, controlling the ducks was hard as hell, not quite one-to-one commands.
Mega Man 3 had some second controller tricks too, I don't recall the specifics but I think you could freeze enemies by pressing a button, and I think maybe jump higher? It's been a while.
On a less related note, I'd be down with finally giving Duck Hunt a shot (heh) on the NES service with some Joy-Con aiming, but I assume it might take a bit of work.
Oh snap! Its in the manual.
I forgot about this actually LOL. Thanks for the reminder Seth!
I did know of this. Game was still hard even when using a controller to put the duck where you wanted it.
@Andrew5678 Duck Hunt is available on Wii U. Having visible cross hairs makes the game way too easy. It was fun to play for half an hour but it is almost impossible to lose.
I didn't know this either.
