Update: The lovely people at Gematsu have informed us NIS America is hosting a video presentation on 11th March, where The Alliance Alive HD Remaster is expected to be announced for the west. The website also discovered the following URL - nisamerica.com/games/alliancealive - which currently loads an “Access Denied” page.
Original Article: The weekly issue of Famitsu has revealed the 3DS title The Alliance Alive will be receiving a high-definition remaster this fall within Japan. The game will be released on multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch.
The role-playing title was originally developed by Cattle Call, with the assistance of Grezzo and FuRyu. It arrived in Japan in 2017 and was published here in the west by Atlus in 2018. The dream team behind this game previously worked on The Legend of Legacy and classics such as SaGa, Final Fantasy, and Chrono Trigger.
Here's some more about the 3DS version from Nintendo's website:
The time for resistance has come. The world is about to change yet again...
The makers of The Legend of Legacy bring the classic JRPG back to form in The Alliance Alive, a new adventure that evokes the nostalgia of the JRPG greats by offering huge world-exploration, an intertwining story of 9 protagonists, and well-designed battle mechanics.
One thousand years ago, Daemons invaded the world of Humans. They subjugated Humanity and created the Great Barrier to separate the realms. The world was thrown into upheaval, and the Dark Current was born. Humanity was decimated and now Daemons rule atop a hierarchical society. However, the time for resistance has come. The world is about to change yet again...
A World Like No Other
Built on a sprawling world brimming with numerous secrets to discover, players will need to establish and unite guilds throughout the four realms while battling the Daemons.
Engage in Unique Combat
Use the "Ignition" system, a part of the turn-based combat that allows for deep customization and nuanced gameplay, to reach an enhanced state and deliver devastating Final Strikes.
In our 3DS review, we gave this title nine out of ten stars and said the development team did a great job addressing the complaints of its predecessor while building upon its strengths. The engaging story, expansive world, deep combat and unique progression options also mean it is a must-play for fans of the JRPG genre.

Nice. It was about time atlus started releasing games on switch.
If there's a physical release I'm in. Honestly, Atlus has been really slow in regards to releasing their games on Switch. Is SMT V taking up so much of their resources that they haven't been able to work on ports? Dragon's Crown? Catherine: Full Body? Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE? Odin Sphere Leifthrasir?
Switch fans: We want to see more of Shin Megami Tensei 5.
Nintendo fans: We want Persona 5 for Switch.
Super Smash Bros. ULTIMATE fans: When will Joker get here?
Atlus: Ummm yeah we'll just give y'all a 3DS port to start out with. Happy gaming!
Is not Atlus that is releasing the Switch version, FuRyu are publishing in Japan and no word of the Western publisher yet, could be ATLUS or NIS America (Probably more likely)
Played it on the 3DS. The game seemed otherwise solid but the soundtrack was just godawful.
Unless I'm mistaken it's the FF13 composer again that's responsible, I just can't stand his music style.
I don't even remember this game existing. I followed 3DS news pretty extensively so I guess it really didn't leave an impression of something I'd like to play.
I've heard awesome things about this one, and it had the misfortune of releasing on 3DS in 2018 so obviously I'd never gotten the chance to check it out. Hopefully it lives up to the little bit of hype I've been hearing. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: more RPGs on Switch is never a bad thing!
I think ATLUS have said big announcements to occur in March. As SEGA FES is 30 and 31st March I would expect big persona announcements then (hopefully including switch release)
I would prefer to hear more news about Shin Megami Tensei V
This isn't Shin Megami Tensei V...
This is not an Atlus published title, guys. I'm not sure why people are jumping all over them. The game was published by Atlus in the west and nothing more. They never made it. They aren't even publishing it on the Switch, either. So far it's a Japanese only release by a Japanese company. Atlus is had at work on SMT V and something with P5. I'm fine waiting for both right now. Atlus has given a lot of support to Nintendo over the years. Chill...
Absolutely buying this if it comes west. I skipped it but that’s not happening a second time. I heard really good things.
@Magician ...and Stella Glow
This has nothing to do with article... but why doesn’t Switch have the nonary trilogy on it yet?

Butter me intrigued! I always love me a good JRPG!
Heard great things from my little circle. Had no 3ds to play it though. Definitely will grab this.
So how many 3DS ports do we have on Switch or coming to Switch? I believe we're up to four now: Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, Code of Princess EX, Rune Factory 4, and now the Alliance Alive. If Nintendo is smart they ought to give us a port of Metroid: Samus Returns and Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds too, those definitely deserve an HD remastered as well.
@retro_player_22 I think 3DS ports could do well on Switch but the loss of a second screen is challenging and the four examples you just gave are from 3rd party companies, not Nintendo.
Alliance Alive is a good game but i don't think i will be double dipping since i just recently played it on my 3DS.
@Zach777 Danganronpa Trilogy as well, both series are from the same developer (Spike Chunsoft). They should really release Danganronpa and the Nonary games for the Switch.
3ds hit, lol....more like 3ds filler.
Never bought it on 3ds so I am interested. Still it will depend on the price in the end.
Didn't buy it on 3ds as no physical cart... same goes for switch.
Oh my glob, this is the best news! I had been holding out for the game to go on sale on the eShop, but I think I'll await the remaster instead (hopefully it will come West!)
It did seem to me like a game that would have been better on the Switch, so I might check it out, provided there's a physical release.
Oh cool, I missed this since I don't really want to play 3DS games anymore. I wasn't too fond of the Radiant Historia remaster changes having played the original and preferring the old art style however...
It's a pretty good jRPG. I'm going to double dip on a physical edition, no doubt about it.
@Expa0 I probably liked the soundtrack the most out of the dumpster-fire that was XIII. To be fair, that’s not saying much but it definitely wasn’t the worst FF soundtrack as although XII had some great tunes, a majority of it was a bit uninteresting.
@retro_player_22 I totally agree about the Samus Returns and Link between worlds ports - but I'd also like to add Luigi's mansion 1+2 and the 3D Zelda games to your list. Hell give us the Metroid Prime Hunters HD port we deserve! The original had god-awful controls and really needs a remaster coating.
My 3DS copy is still unopened. Regardless, I think this will be a decent rpg for Switch.
This was an Atlus game, why are we expecting NISA to announce the remake?
Cool, I didn't get around to this on 3DS. Now port Radiant Historia and Persona Q too
Wish we could get SMTIV:A and PersonaQ2 on the Switch. Both games I'd love to play, but given the last 2 years, I know it's very unlikely I'll ever go back to my 3DS - well, maybe for Fire Emblem at some point, but other than that ... ^^
I'd honestly even take straight-up ports at this point, without any bells or whistles, maybe have it render at native resolution, if possible, but I'd take it anyways!
Ok, sold. Day 1 for me.
Yes, I ‘m interested
I'll check it out if it gets a physical release.
Have it for the 3ds but never played it cause it's just so hard to look at the 3ds screen knowing I have a far superior switch
was going to buy this for 3ds but okay never mind
I have this on 3DS, but I haven't played it yet. I got the special edition with the extra goodies.
Funny how people thinks this is an Atlus game. It was just published by them. (But I understand how people mistakes publishers and developers.)
@Travisemo007 "filler" Really???? Why use that word? Ridiculous!
I have this game on 3DS and quite enjoy it, but I'm too much of a cheapskate to double-dip on it right away.
A good rpg is always welcome!
Welp. This one is still sitting, sealed, on my 3DS backlog...
I'm glad Switch owners are getting the chance to own this. I played the 3ds demo of this game when it first came out and I loved it. I still plan on buying the game for my new 3ds, I just have so many other 3ds games in my backlog like Metroid:Samus Returns, Mario Kart 7, Pokemon Ultra Sun, Fire Emblem Awakening, and WarioWare Gold that it will be a while before I get it.
@bolt05 both have a physical version bruv....
@HinakoSumo alliance alive on 3ds had no physical release in Aus and EU.
It appears you're correct there will be a physical release in aus for switch. I'm not sure if I will get it as there are too many good games coming out this year.
