There are only three days to go until our next Pokémon adventure begins, with Pokémon Legends: Arceus launching exclusively on Switch this Friday. Keeping the hype rolling, The Pokémon Company has shared yet another new trailer for the game.
This time around, we're treated to plenty of exciting footage that follows the player through a variety of locations, but the main focus here is a tease of something big. You see, while you might already be familiar with the game's starter Pokémon (Cyndaquil, Oshawott, and Rowlet), each of them is set to receive its very own Hisuian final form.
The trailer stops short of ruining the surprise (although, thanks to the leaks, you'll be able to find spoilers all over the internet if you really can't wait until Friday), but we do have the following silhouettes.
On top of the trailer, a lovely piece of new key art has also been released. Check it out:
Are you looking forward to playing Pokémon Legends: Arceus? We'll have our review of the game live on the site for you ahead of its release this Friday, and pre-orders are already available here.

I saw a dungeon from the trailer.
So it looked similar as BOTW but in different way.
And I saw UFO too.
Oh man I'll pretend to be excited as if this didn't all leak a week ago!
I was happy for the starters choices, and even more happy because Samurott is my favorite final evolution starter. So regional evolutions is not my favorite news (although not like I'm disowning the game, not at all! lol). I also don't really understand it logically. The other Pokemon that are regional are the way they are because they are adapted to the region, but the starters were very recently brought over to the region by the professor. That's...not how evolution (not Pokemon evolution, real life evolution) works.
Regardless, I'm happy to see that Samurott is still quadrupedal and seems to keep a lot of its original design in place.
EDIT: Do not spoil me, please. I have avoided the leaks.
Giving these non-native starters alternate evolutions was always the obvious twist, but something we anticipated all the same.
I do really appreciate that the campaign for this game has kept a lot of the surprises to itself though, let players discover for themselves what the game has to offer!
Honestly, I like em. I think they look pretty good.
I hope it gets great reviews, for the first time in a long time I'm exited about a pokemon game.
The silhouettes are cool, but the actual designs are pretty ugly imo.
Lol i have sinned, been watching some gameplay footage.... Mannn the gameplay is amazing, what u can do! Never been a pokemon fan but man ehat i saw! 👍 Hands down to gamefreak.
Curious to see what they've done with Typhlosion; it's one of my favorite fire Pokemon. As for Samurott, IMO almost anything would be an improvement. Not sure I'm digging that Decidueye silhouette though....
I was already fairly hyped about this game but the little I saw from leaks did make me even more interested. Going to be tough to hold strong and wait for Kirby if this game gets great reviews.
Everything seems to be goth themed in this game
First they lied about open world, now they lied about revealing the starters.
Fire your PR guy Gamefreak.
@Screen
I don't think they ever claimed or promoted the game as being open world, the initial reveal just very strongly gave that impression and they clarified later that it was not.
They've revealed the starters, it's still Cyndaquil, Oshawott, and Rowlett. All they've done is revealed that there are different final evolutions for the starters, not what they are.
Not watching the trailer, just coming in here to say WHY WOULD YOU RELEASE THIS 3 DAYS BEFORE LAUNCH. ARE YOU MAD?!
OMG YES YES YES I need this!!
@Screen They never said it was open world.
@BTB20
@RupeeClock
Correct they only used pictures to tell us, and not words.
@Screen It’s not that big of a deal, It’s still close to open world
It’s not like it’s going to ruin my day or anything, but from the leaks, the game we’ve been shown and the game we’re getting couldn’t be more different.
And the game we were shown looked awful.
@Pokester99 How do I block someone again?
@Screen “They only used pictures to tell us, not words”. Isn’t that on you then? On you for assuming something that was never promised in the first place?
@Pokester99 To me, all three look incredibly solid.
That trailer was so spoilerific. And honestly I expected their first evolutions to get regional forms, while their final forms would get the "regional evolution" treatment.
It seem they won't evolve the "conventional" way, either.
@Screen
“Correct they only used pictures to tell us, and not words.”
We literally got an in-game screenshot of the Pokedex posted to the official Legends Arceus website showing that the game was separated in to multiple wild-area like zones.
Absolutely no false advertisement was done at all.
They set up false expectations, the worst possible strategy to use in marketing.
Not going to spoil what they look like, but this guarantees that I try to get my hands on all three starters to see for myself! So hyped for Pokemon Legends
I like Decidueye's design personally (I saw the leaks) and will probably pick him but Samurott's design is nice too...Didn't like Typhlosion's design but the typing is cool, fire/ghost
@Screen Except they didn't. They would have if they said something like "THIS IS AN OPEN WORLD GAME", but they never did. You just set yourself up for disappointment on your own.
They copied BotW's trailer frame for frame, they set up the fans for dissapointment.
It's not like that kills the game or anything, but it's now a strike against it. (I say "strike" for lack of a better word)
Look basically that first trailer should have never been released in it's current state.
@Screen They only redid like two or three shots from BotW's trailer.
Good then we're in agreement.
@Harmonie honestly I'm not a fan of regional forms. I'd prefer just a new Pokemon/evolution all together. Regional forms just feels lazy.
@Harmonie It's because they evolve while in Hisui. If you evolve them anywhere else, they evolve as their normal forms.
Yeah, no logic at all, but it's Pokémon logic after all.
