We covered the impending Switch launch of the PC turn-based strategy title Dark Deity some time ago, and it's finally out on Nintendo's console this week.
To mark the occasion, a special launch trailer has been released, and it really hammers home how much the game takes inspiration from Nintendo's Fire Emblem series.
In Dark Deity, there's a strong focus on managing relationships between your characters, which is a common theme in the Fire Emblem series, too. The game even takes place in a Military Academy, just like Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
Set across 28 chapters and featuring 30 playable characters, Dark Deity might just scratch that Fire Emblem itch if you're a fan of the series. It's certainly had positive reviews in the gaming press, and its Steam user score currently sits at "Mostly Positive".

Bought it, but I haven’t started it yet or Triangle Strategy. Hopefully this weekend I can start scratching either my Final Fantasy Tactics itch or my Fire Emblem itch!
I have been put off playing it by looking at the maps. Some of them look worse designed than in Gaiden/Echoes. I didn’t know that was possible.
Does it skip all the dating sim & life management stuff? I might be interested.

@FantasiaWHT I'm about halfway through it, and so far there's no dating or face petting. As far as the flow goes, I'd compare it most to Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. It's just mission after mission, separated only by story segements and the typical camp stuff (character rapport/skills, item purchases, etc.). It does enough to separate itself from Fire Emblem, but is still the closest we've come to a true FE game in over a decade.
@moodycat It doesn't. However, this game was very clearly inspired by the GBA-era Fire Emblem games. One look at the battle screen should tell you all you need to know.
Anyone know if there’s plan for a physical release?
As a backer- game was OK when I played it last year. Nothing great, but not as bad as Rise Eterna or anything.
That said, the devs have put in WORK over the last year. While I can't say I've played the game since release, I've seen the improvements they made to map design, graphics, and class/character balance, and they all seem pretty great. Nothing that's going to dethrone Fates Conquest in terms of gameplay, but a solid enough sendup to the GBA games.

I remember when the Fire Emblem creator made a ripoff of his own creation for the PlayStation and Nintendo's lawyers threatened to sue him the whole way.
By the end, he changed it enough to disappoint the lawyers looking for a payout.
Bought it, played it, and it’s “ok” imo.
It mixes traditional Japanese RPG style with FE chess-style mechanics. Personally I prefer Octopath Traveller and Triangle Strategy to this, so if you’re looking for a new game and have to be picky, those would be my recommendations.
But it’s a good boredom buster to fill in the cracks until a new FE game is released.
I bought Rise Eterna for $1.00 and still felt like I paid way too much for it. So I'm a bit wary of indie turn-based strategy games. However, this one sounds worth looking into after I'm done with TS.
