Poll: What Do You Think Of The Demo For Another Code: Recollection?

I'm skipping the demo because I am confident in buying the game

I'm interested in the game (Never played the originals) but might skip the demo entirely and just dive in on release.

I need to try the demo but think I forgot to download it. They sure are giving this game lots of attention lets see if its deserving of it

By giving us a small taste, the demo itself does a great job of letting us know what to expect from the remake. Visually the game looks colorful yet soft like pastels, and some of the music gives off a mellow vibe with their gentle melody. Graphically, (in handheld mode) the environment can look a bit rough with the flat foliage and blurry textures.

However, character models such as Ashley look wonderful, and seeing her idle animations and the hair flowing from the breeze are really nice touches.

Some of the animations in cutscenes are clunky, but the game tries to hide them by cutting away or limiting the view. There was some pop-ins, but they're barely noticeable enough to be offensive. We're only given simple puzzles to solve, but I wouldn't be surprised if the full game throws some curveballs that will utilize the Switch system or DAS in creative ways. The interactions between characters are great thanks to the solid writing and voice acting.

We're given a personal insight into Ashley, which allows us to understand her fluctuating nature from a tumultuous circumstance. Other than that, I'm excited to see how well the changes will turn out in the remake.

I absolutely loved the demo. It's a bit short, yes. And the controls aren't perfect (they also weren't perfect on the DS or Wii game, tbh) but it looks beautiful and really lets you relive the game in a new way.

Only one small gripe, I know why they changed it. But I still think the DAS should've been a DS with a camera like in the original. Because now it looks like Ashley has a 'Switch' in 2005. And that just felt a bit "odd" to me, and kind of took me out of the suspension of disbelief.

The demo felt like a 8.7/10 for me. And that is quite a high score coming from me

I absolutely loved it and I am absolutely looking forward to playing both games next month. I’ve already played the demo twice now and might play it more because of how much I loved it.

I enjoyed it, though there was a lot of dialogue and not much gameplay. I’m interested in the full game and plan to wait for reviews.

Wait, kinda weird for it to describe Ashley as an orphan.

Because from her point of view she is. But to us (and Jessica, and pretty much every other character in the game) she obviously isn't.

Slow and boring. Not even finished the demo

The only trouble I had was the motion puzzle, where I had to slide a key out. Maybe it was my Pro Controller, but switching to handheld mode helped.

Apparently the camera is *****.

The game wasn't on my radar before, and judging by the demo, it isn't for me. There's a heavy focus on self-discovery, which isn't a topic that interests me all that much. Likewise, the pizzle-solving is more basic than I would have liked, with it heavily railroading the player towards what they should be doing next.

happy that there is a demo; anaother code has always been a series i was going to dive into but never did.. something to test dring holiday break

It's great. I had some problems with the camera, but otherwise I enjoyed it very much. A must-have for a fan of the original games.

I haven't played the demo and never played the DS game, but I played the Wii gane back in the day, and it was... Ok. Just ok. Not a game to remember, that's for sure haha.

I'll be skipping this one.

One of the bad looking game on Switch.

Without spoiling the story, could someone who played the full game tell me if the boy is a real ghost, or will it be revealed to have another type of more sciency explanation?
That’s an important part of the decision for me to get this game or not.

I've played the Nintendo DS version. The boy is a real ghost. I don't know if anything has changed for the remake, but I don't suspect a detail like this will be retconned.

I’ve played, but not beaten the original DS game, so story/puzzle wise I know most of what I’m in for. The character design is great, English voice acting was a little dull but not terrible, the Japanese voice acting was better. The environment design is poor (GameCube era/modern Pokémon design quality) but not overly distracting, camera controls were a major standout, in how jarring they were (like let me zoom out further and don’t “bump” into the environment/boundaries).

There’s some room for improvement and demo has knocked my interest a bit, but if feedback is received they could easily fix the problems before release.

@SirKif He is a ghost but the game is a Sci-Fi mystery overall, rather than a ghost story. He's the only instance of that kind of thing in either game. The game is too good to miss out on over such a small thing I think.

Nintendo once again showing us how greedy they are and over pricing another code there is no justification this game being $60

I completed the demo and really enjoyed it. Some drawbacks though:

• I wished we could use touchscreen to interact with items and select some dialog choices;
• I wished we could use gyroscope to move the DAS's camera or some items we examine (gyroscope is used for one puzzle in the demo though);
• I wished we could really move at the first person view without DAS's view (the camera is too close to the character at the 3rd person view) and that we could interact with different things at first person view.

Nevertheless, I appreciated the graphics, character design and Japanese dubbing. I also like the fact we can save and continue when the game is released. We have also a log allowing us to listen again to old dialogs and read their transcription, which is pretty neat for a Japanese learner like me. I think I'll buy this game.

Was already planning to get the game but it really sold it for me.

Also I soooooo want a Hotel Dusk remake in this style, I can picture it so well and it'd be glorious.

Bit of a biased poll, no outright option for saying it’s bad. Which imo it isn’t, but it’s slow and doesn’t make me want to buy this £50 game on release

I think i'll just dive into it. I have played the original game(s) before. I am a bit busu playing other games to try out demos of games that I am almost certain of playing.

Shame I wanted Ashley to be Raiden from metal gear fighting robots and using a cool sword

Well.... The demo was super easy. I played the original DS game years ago and thought the game was harder. Maybe I'm remembering things that made it easy. Love the new artwork though. I did pre order at Amazon and have never played the sequel so I'm looking forward to that. The game looks good on switch

@Mattock1987 yeah I thought the same thing. It was slow and super easy. It is basically a point and click adventure type game which are typically slow.

I liked the demo (I've become a bit of a fan of exploration - walking sims in recent years), but I hope they tweak the menu controls a bit in the final release, as it feels like everything you do takes requires extra steps. They also need to improve the performance. Other than that, the graphics look nice and the voice acting is pretty decent.

So far I like the demo and the puzzles are tricky. I am trying to get the mansion door open.

I'm a fan of these games. Have played both Trace Memory on DS and Another Code on Wii and will get the remake for Switch. The only thing I didn't like while playing the demo was Ashley's movement, it should have a more natural animation.

I didn't really understand the game from the Direct announcement but was interested enough to consider buying. After the demo it became a definite day 1 purchase and won't get sent to the backlog. My only complaint would be that the camera controls are too stiff.

I was more hyped at the end, but the number of interruptions bothered me. I wanted to be able to think a little alone... and the game's camera is caustrophobic, I would prefer it to be centralized and further away.

Missed opportunity to not have touch screen functionality in handheld mode for menu selections when this was a big element of the original Nintendo DS game.

I get that the game must be perfectly playable on TV, which it is, but having this little extra in handheld mode, which is where the first game originated anyway, would not have been a bad thing.

I've played about a half hour of it and I see the appeal. If you told me it was new, I'd believe it.

Also, fwiw, my kids were watching me play it and asking about it. They seemed really interested in it and they are normally indifferent towards the video games I play.

Won't reveal the obvious clue but just remembering how to do it was tricky but that is the end of the game...darn it..

Played the demo and thought it was good, although the bit with getting the key under the stool using motion controls was awful, especially when using the pro controller as I was playing the demo on the TV, so I then hold it off and then played it again on handheld mode and it was much better.

They need to give the option to allow us to disable the motion controls in the full game.

@crimsontadpoles I've played both of the original versions and the story revolves around her family and the mystery surrounding them, rather than herself. The puzzles on DS were extremely easy to begin with and just showcased the touchscreen more than anything, but once you get into the mansion and start properly exploring it the puzzle solving becomes a lot more like Resident Evil 1

Am I the only one who felt like the camera was entirely too zoomed in? I desperately wanted to pull it back and have a better view. I feel claustrophobic with how close it is to Ashley.

Just finally got around to playing this. I realy liked the art style, and I was digging the horror/puzzle vibes from the girl all alone, exploring a mysterious island. Then they threw in the supernatural element with the silly ghost sidekick and ruined the whole thing for me.
