Soooo DK64 will be the next game added to NSO?

Just give us returns part 3, after not being a huge fan of the original dkc games (they are good) and never plying or wanting to play dk64 I think going forward is the right play for dk.

If they sharpened the controls, I’d be all over a DK64 release. Not gonna happen, but it would be cool.

Remakes/remasters of original DKC trilogy would be cool.

There's been rumours about a new 3D DK game made by the team behind Mario Odyssey for AGES now, and man, with all this DK side content we've been getting recently, now would be the perfect time for those rumours to pull through.

Ten years without a new DK game is just wild.

So it's DKC's 30th anniversary? What a momentous occasion! It'd be nice if Nintendo had something to celebrate. You know, like a new game?

GBC port of DKC too, King of Swing, NES Classics DK, quite a bit they can put out before DK64.

They do stuff like this all the time - offhand definitely seen Mario and Zelda ones before - so not even sure this is really news.

Nintendo being unpredictable as ever will remaster Donkey Kong Jungle Beat HD with a new wireless version of the Konga Bongo's. Sold separately of course.

Oh i hope this could mean we'll be getting DK64 for N64 NSO! And maybe give us Donkey Kong '94 for Game Boy NSO while they're at it. Those are 2 great hits we are missing and are a huge must.

Getting Diddy Kong Racing would be a really cool bonus too, but seeing as how we only got 1 out of 3 Banjo-Kazooie Nintendo games, i don't see that happening anytime soon... but we did get Jet Force Gemini so there is definitely a chance there.

I love the older games and would love a nes remix style sequel possibly with some game and watch elements.

I really hope this is signalling some much needed Donkey Kong content coming to Switch, because it's absolutely criminal Nintendo have left one of their biggest characters out in the cold for TEN YEARS.

Without a doubt, all things considered, the lack of Donkey Kong games is the biggest failing of the Switch era. What messed up dimension am I living in where there's more Fire Emblem than Donkey Kong?! Jokes aside... surely there's some announcements on the horizon?

• DK64 coming to NSO expansion?
• Donkey Kong Country Returs ported over from the Wii/3DS?
• An all new fully 3D Donkey Kong adventure? OR an all new 2D/3D Donkey Kong game akin to Kirby Forgotten Land and Mario 3D World.
• An all new third entry in the Returns series featuring K Rool and more returning animal helpers.

Seems to me we're being made to wait for Retro to finish Metroid Prime 4. Irritating since Retro are taking a very long time on it... Nintendo should have greenlit a third Returns game instead of relying on Tropical Freeze. It's a poor decision and as for MP4 and Retro - well the jury is out isn't it. At best, its mismanagement of time/resource but let's see how MP4 turns out before we pass judgement.

I don't expect a brand new DK game for the current Switch, I'm pretty sure that if Nintendo is making one they're saving it for the next console which makes sense
I think it would be cool if they made a remaster of DKC Returns with the visuals and frame rate of the Wii version but with the extra content and superior controls of the 3DS version (and by "superior controls" I mean having the roll assigned to a button instead of having to shake the controller for it, that was a really dumb thing in the Wii version)

The best kept secret at Nintendo is Donkey Kong is their best platformer series. We're ready for another banana slamma!

Making up for the fact that they completely ignored the 40th anniversary of the original Donkey Kong from the looks of it. Whatever, as long as there's more to come in terms of a new game and more retro releases added to NSO, not bothered how they choose to justify it.

@edgedino I'm under no illusions about that foul-smelling ape. Even so, I respect that DK is totally unafraid to bare his fur.

Humans, being far less furry, are... not as comfortable doing so. I mean, from their perspective, he's wearing nothing but a tie.

I need a DK64 HD remaster with more kongs more bananas more fairies, i need to be the most "collectathon" ever that not even in 100 hours you can gather all the items

@Limberlost Nintendo should commission Playtonic Games to do the remake, since many of their devs were from the original Rareware studio.

Really hoping this means we get the Donkey Kong Land games, and DK64 on NSO soon.

Anyone remember that DK64 mini game where you played as a rhino and would smash rats or pigs or something in an arena on a timer? I haven't thought about that in like 20+ years but when I was a kid my friends and I would compete to see who could get the high score. We played that mini game way more than the actual game hah.

The DKC series still looks, sounds, and plays great. Highly recommended.

Oh right, still need to finish Tropical Freeze. Why aren't I so much into platforms anymore as I was as a kid?

I'm like 98% sure this is just because of Mario vs. Donkey Kong coming out soon and not any indication of any other new Donkey Kong game. I doubt it means we're getting DK64 anytime soon either.

yeah i hated those controls on the wii version of returns and it didnt even support the classic controller iirc (its why im really glad they tended to go with the 'play how you want' direction with switch and hoping the next system keeps the switch format)

i did find it much better to control on 3ds but like you mentioned the framerate on the wii one made the gameplay itself smoother and tropical freeze itself having both button controls and 60fps made it play like a dream, so yeah i would be happy with a HD version of returns with the ability to use button controls

still really not the biggest fan of how nso handles its games (not being able to purchase/keep) though would buy a collection of the DKC games for sure, imagine something like those konami legacy collections they did for castlevania or contra only with nintendos franchises.

DK64 on NSO would be nice. It's an amazing game that gets a bad rep because people think they have to 100% it. I'd also love to see a new game, either a sequel to Tropical Freeze to finish the "new" trilogy or a new 3D game.

DKC Trilogy remastered, like they did with Metroid Prime. Same controls, same levels, Full HD. Same music. Small upgrades to DKC1 and 2 based on DKC3. And finally, DKC4.

Also, remaster Donkey Kong Land 1-3 while you're at it.
