Previous Nintendo launch titles include, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario World, Super Mario Land, Super Mario 64, now for the GameCube's launch we get Mario's brother!? WTF!
Luigi's starring debut is a fairly linear beast, basically you go from room to room in the mansion, sucking up ghosts in your souped up vacuum cleaner. The game is fairly easy and could be finished in a weekend. However, there are a few things that caught me out, and I would happily discuss them in the channel =)
In the game you have the option to choose Dolby Surround, which seems to be the trend in many GameCube games. It's used well with ghosts screaming, or booing whatever, behind you. There is, it seems, only one music track throughout the course of the game, it's a catchy little number that you will hate to keep humming. Even luigi hums the tune when it dies down in a room you've already cleared.
Amazing graphical effects and touches punctuate this game. You can use your vacuum on all of your surroundings including tablecloths! The rating you get when you finish the game is based on the amount of money that you 'collected' by searching for coins, notes, or gems.
After playing through the game you will have the option to play it all again in a 'hidden mansion' which, I believe is harder than the 1st time through. I say believe because I got tired of it and went back to Waverace

Why does everyone say this game is bad? It is a great game and it is short. But that dosen't mean it deserves a 6. In my opinion it really does deserve around a 8. Just because mario wasn't at launch dosen't mean people can atomattically screw it. It really is a good game.

I had to read the score you gave twice to make sure I didn't mis-read. 6/10? I know that 6/10 "isn't a bad score" and that its a matter of opinion but this is a GC classic! 8/10 at least. Its actually a very good game, even though its short. It should be given due credit for that surely. Nevermind.

This game was short, but worthy of at least a 7 or 8. Finding your way around the mansion made for a fun and exciting adventure, and I think featuring Luigi rather than Mario actually made it appealing. You always get to play as Mario... Why not try something new? lol
Also, the vaccuum controls set up greatly for the next Mario hit, Super Mario Sunshine and the use of Fludd. This game was great!

I agree with the other comments here, not enough love for Luigi's mansion. It's a solid and fun game. I felt like a ghostbuster while playing it.
The conclusion is spot on though, the game has very little re-playability. It might be time to dust it off for a spin now though.

I actually prefer this over "Super Mario Sunshine." This was a perfect launch title for the Game Cube. I bought it the day it came out.

@Xkhaoz-I think this guy has been long gone, just look how old the review is. This review is hilariously bad. By the way, Luigi's Mansion is better than Super Mario Sunshine.
