£60?!?!
I was mouthing off the other week how I expected Nintendo to rip people off with the full £50, let alone 60. Damn
No one is getting ripped off. The decision to buy the game at that price is entirely up to the consumer. If it's not worth the asking price to you, you can always just not buy the game.
@Tontus314 kids don't understand 'it's too expensive'. So if you're a parent with no interest in this game but have a child who does then you're faced with two options: disappoint your child or get ripped off. HTH
Don't jump the gun on pre-orders, as a double pack will be available too.

Those are just Amazon placeholder prices by the looks, once it’s updated fully with the box art and release date, it’ll most likely be £49.99.
EU prices would be amazing too, if you have the time
I always struggle, games are expensive here!
I’ll just do my regular routine of getting it for $50 by going into Walmart in person the day of release.
I remember crying when I didn't get the lugia figurine from game on launch day
reminds me of the dialga mcdonalds figure I used to have
@Tontus314
That's a really strange answer because it implies nothing can be ripoff as long as the choice to not buy the product exists (and I don't think anyone reasonable believes that).
Like, I can personally not buy $1,000 sneakers and still would assume a great deal of people would agree it's a ripoff. In fact, someone buying the sneakers could think that, but feel compelled to purchase it for a variety of reasons.
"In the US it's Walmart undercutting the usual suspects. Hey, we'll take 11 cents over a kick in the kumquats any day — we'll be keeping an eye out for other deals, though."
This is just what Walmart does - they slap $xx.88 price tags on media to trick customers into thinking they're getting a better deal. And knowing the average Walmart shopper, it probably works too!
As far as the bundle goes, it always is really funny to me to see Nintendo selling it for $119.99 (or £99.99 or whatever), instead of saving you any money, it actually costs you a cent over buying them separately ($59.99 + $59.99 = $119.98)! Obviously one cent isn't going to change anyone's mind on whether to buy, it's just funny to me that it loses you money.
ShopTo is selling for the same price as Base, and has a double-sided poster + respective version legendary figure as its pre-order bonuses.
This is looking like it won't even have the battle frontier. Lol
I never really got into Diamond or Pearl so I'm not really sure which one to get. Suggestions?
@Twili_Waker
Basically a question of which legendary Pokémon you like more.
Each game has their version exclusives, but you can just trade for them or import them from Home.
@RupeeClock ok cool so I could get both eventually and just transfer the version exclusives? Awesome. I didn't know I could do that.
@Twili_Waker
That, or trade with other people via online play or whatever.
It's not really hard to get version exclusive Pokémon for any given active game.
Shame it can't be a stylus with the legendary on top like what Game gave away in 07.
@DeathByLasagna Please explain your price-reducing wizardry, fellow trainer...
@Paej13 No wizardry involved, most Walmart’s (at least in my area) sell new games for about $10 cheaper than other places, but only in-store. Online will always show $60. I didn’t believe it at first when I heard about it on Reddit but low and behold my local Walmart has every new Switch game discounted about 17%. Hopefully your local Walmart does the same
@B4L0R_CLUB Kids do understand. Whether they accept it or not is an entirely different story. I've got two of my own. 8 and 4. Practically everyday is my wife and I reminding that money doesn't grow on trees and why we won't buy them their own Nintendo Switches or some other crazy thing they ask for
@ImagineerNik did you just start playing official Nintendo games?
I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but games are always $10 cheaper at Walmart once they're out, at least in store if not online. I bought Skyward Sword the day after release for $50. I've gotten a couple other games like that, too.
The two Wal*marts local to me never charge more than $49.98 for any switch game. I made the mistake of ordering SM 3d All-stars from them online, then returned it and bought it local when I realized. Wonder why it isn't the same online?
Edit: In the US
Between Pearl and Arceus that's $180CAD after tax. One of the big downsides of the Switch are these atrocious prices...yet here I was day one buying Mario 64 for $90 anyways. I buy on PC where possible to make up for the Switch tax.
@ImagineerNik Weird. I can buy the game here in Norway for about 49 euro and then get 10% club discount at my store, so I end up picking it up for 45 euro. Norway isn't exactly known for being the cheapest country with 25% VAT on goods.
I guess it must be due to Brexit and GBP valuation that makes games so expensive in UK now?
@B4L0R_CLUB kids definitely understand if things are too expensive. My eldest is 4 and when i take her out, she understands and accepts why we can't buy certain things for her. Teach them young and they will learn.
@Jeronan games in the UK have always been between £40 and £60, brexit hasn't changed anything (yet). Nintendo games are always overpriced because they know they'll sell.
i bought it for 49€ at gamestop yesterday and am shiny hunting my starter since then.. (1/4096 soft reset)
@lovesushi Outch. LOL! Good luck with that.
thanks… well watching „some“ movies while i do that. i just need the shiny to begin lol
@moodycat lest we forget the iconic words from Monkey Island, "Never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game"
I cancelled my Amazon pre-order, My Walmart has all the AAA Titles for $49.98.
Anybody in Ireland, Argos are selling for €49.99
My wife's double pack pre-order came in from Amazon today. She seems pretty happy. She's more than happy to pay the $120 for it.
@UmbreonsPapa I have two as well. My oldest is 5 and he knew from 4 that things were too expensive or that he had to earn things. We now have five Switch's in the house (including his) and he got a Lite for his 5th birthday this year, but that's all he got and we told him it was expensive and it was a big gift and he understood.
