Twitch is all the rage, it seems, with the live streaming service used to watch gamers tackle a variety of titles and even team up in their thousands to play Pokémon. It's a social phenomenon in gaming.
Aside from some retro titles being chaotically played by thousands of gamers at once, however, not much love is shown to Nintendo games on the service. It doesn't help that it's relatively easy to stream footage from a PC or dedicated apps on PS4 and Xbox One, but is actually a minor nuisance on Nintendo hardware. Nevertheless, we want to give it a go, and plan to run regular live streams of Nintendo goodness on our own shiny new channel — starting this week.
We're going last-gen, first-off, and preparing ourselves for a teary farewell to Mario Kart Wii. The game's going nowhere, of course, but online multiplayer will cease to be on 20th May, leaving us with just one more month of Wii Wheel throwing fury as that crazy-good racer from Japan red shells us on the finishing straight. We also have Mario Kart 8 coming on 30th May, too, so it's time for a final fling with the game that made online MK races a staple of our gaming diet.
It'll all be happening at 5pm UK time / 6pm CET / noon Eastern / 9am Pacific on Tuesday 15th April, and will last about an hour. We'll perhaps have a camera pointed at those playing (probably Tom and Ant) or maybe not, depending on our technical proficiency on the day. We will be playing online, so the article hosting the stream (though it'll also be on the channel linked above) will include our Mario Kart Wii Friend Code, and if enough of you post your codes in the comments we may even get a Friends race going, in which you can humiliate us in front of all that are watching.
We hope you'll join us, and in the meantime you can use the comments below to suggest other games you want to see, focusing on Wii U and Wii. Do you want more online multiplayer action, some Let's Plays, and if so what games? Let us know.

Yay! I might be at work though
I reckon NL should do a countdown of Nintendo Wifi games before they shut the service down. I have Battalion Wars, Conduit and loads of others that I've barely played but will miss them as soon as they shut the servers down!
Awesome! Good thing I won't have much to do that day.
"The Twitch Thing" LOL.
I'll be at work but will definitely keep a look out for impressions.
Might be able to join.
Goldeneye! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
....For a minute I thought this article meant that they'll be doing a "Twitch Plays Mario Kart Wii". xD
Nice! I'll look forward to this! Maybe you could also try Brawl online to say farewell to WFC... if it decides to work!
I think choosing great Wii titles including those with WFC to start with and then move to Wii U when MK8 comes out would work best.
Twitch is amazing. Was huge before all of the TwitchPlaysPokemon crap and continues to grow every day. I love watching real gamers play great games, so I'll be watching!
Not much love is shown to Nintendo games on twitch?? I will go on to say this, in the past few years there have been weekly races in Mario kart wii on Sundays, Thursday's, and more recently Saturday's. Also there's weekly games of fortune street on Friday night's. Plus there are streamers that stream many retro games mostly Nintendo games, and when new wiiu games come it's all over twitch. But this will be, I'm sure one of the many send offs for Nintendo's wifi service, which will be a sad day indeed.
Megaman 1-6 no damage (Get hit and start again).
Milon's Secret Castle.
Wii U Just Dance (Where you can see the participants).
Kidz Bop Dance Party! The Video Game (Only 1/10 I can find on the site).
Dragon's Lair Trilogy (Better to watch than to play in many ways).
Gunlord (Neo Geo MVS). Mentioned before that you have played the hell out of it (And I hope it sells well when it finally released).
Chin up, NL.
Just find one of the private Wii servers that will invariably open up the day before the official servers shut down.
I would join to race along side you, but sadly, my time zone prevents me from playing.
And this is considered work?!? Lucky...
Gonna miss goldeneye, conduit, modern warfare reflex and black ops was the best on wii! Well at least I got my Wii u and 2ds I suppose :/ never got a chance to play mk on wii it looks quality though! Definitely be checking out the stream when I get home!
I wish that I can join us in this last races of Mario Kart Wii! ^.^
Time to dig out my copy of MKW for one last online race. I'd also like to see Animal Crossing, something a bit more sedate than the chaos of MKW!
@Falchion Yeah, ofc besides, you know, all the tireless editing and hours of news coverage and the other outside jobs the members of the site probably have to work on just to get a decent salary. It's a blast (literally)
