If you've played any conventional Zelda games, then you no doubt understand Link's sisyphean struggle to battle the long grasses of Hyrule. Considering that grass contains rupees, hearts, magic, and other helpful items, it's always worth your while to go and clear out a patch of grass just because. Evidently, Librage really likes the concept, as the studio has created an entire action game centered around it.
In Legend of Kusakari, Shiba Kari is a humble grass cutter whose job is to keep the fields pristine so the heroes that battle monsters don't get their feet tangled in grass and weeds. Gameplay takes a puzzle-like action approach as you maneuver your lawncare professional around the battlefield, dodging enemies and cutting grass. It's just as bizarre as it sounds, and Nnooo -- the game's publisher -- just announced that it releases on 25th August on the eShop here in the West.

one day, 3d got game heroes shall make it's way onto a nintendo platform. until then, grass cutting simulator 17 will do. i even like the premise. like how in the matrix, the most dangerous job isn't fighting the squiddies, it's the guys doing the reloading. hope this has a demo.
Link would be calling his lawyers more like!
I'm just kidding, looks kinda fun for a budget title. Maybe if it's under a fiver I'll give it a punt, providing it reviews well. Looks like a 6/10 game to me.
Guess the sequel will be about breaking pottery.
I still can't listen to that horn without cracking a smile.
Eh... Zelda game clone ?
Oh man that trumpet
The music sounds like a 2nd Grade school concert Aka the total opposite of Nintendo. If that's any indication of the gameplay, this game needs to be killed immediately.
Jesus that music is so bad
I don't say this often but Game of the Year 2016?
Why
I'll give it a go!
before clicking on the video: i think i remember this, heard about it somewhere...
after clicking on the video: oh i HEARD about it somewhere all right ⊙__⊙
@Peterjr1 I think it's intentional. I hope.
That music is a threat to national security.
Oh come on guys, the music can't be THAT bad. I mean (clicks Play) I've heard legitimately worse music and--OH NO WHAT WERE THEY THINKING, THIS IS NOISE MAKE IT STOP
It looks...unique. I guess.
You're drunk, trumpeter. Go home!
So the gameplay is just dodging enemies and cutting grass for 50 levels? I'll pass.
Nnoooo. Not buying it.
God that trumpet (or whatever) was truly awful.
That is hilarious. I love that there are actual heroes fighting great monsters, but their battles are just obstacles of no particular interest to you that you have to cut around.
@Tuulenpoika Ha they explain that as the king's band playing for Kusakari, but one lone trumpeter isn't quite as talented as the others.
Cool concept but if that trumpet is actually in the game... FRACK NO. What the hey?
Didn't care much about that trumpet.
This actually looks really fun. I'm considering picking it up if the price is reasonable.
Looks better than BOTW IMHO
That music was brilliant. Not sure how long I could cope with listening to it - but brilliant nevertheless.
"Alright, the music is complete, now what could make it even better? I know! I'll record my five year old son playing the trumpet."
Oh man I love this idea.. I like when people can dissect something, frame it, and expand it. Now let's see if I actually buy this... I like the concept. Bomberman-ish...?
"The trumpet is bad!"
Well, that's kinda the joke!
@televisions
I agree with you on that one.
If it's pretty cheap I might get it. I think the concept is funny and I love that trumpet, really completes the tone of game. The novelty of it might wear out quickly though.
Nnooo! I'll not buy this game.
@TerrapinJess
I was thinking Digdug-ish.
OT but what game is your screen shot avatar from?
Ugh! That trumpet. Xo
Nnooo.
@Tempestryke — my avatar pic is from Blaster Master (my favorite game on NES)
I so wish they would make some kind of reboot or... something... It's metroid-vania at its finest as far as I am concerned. No map to help and upgrades for your vehicle which you can eject from at any time and walk around. Although if you do that you are seriously underpowered. Check it out if you haven't! It's on 3DS VC and also Wii and WiiU VC. Totally worth the price!
@Peterjr1 My ears just died
I still don't get why Nintendo hasn't already stopped this.
This is a apparent case of plagiarism, just look at the logo! Usually Nintendo would sue these kind of companies...
This will not sell well unless your into meme worthy games
This actually looks sort of fabulous. If it's not too expensive I think I'll give it a shot.
@Peterjr1 YES. I had to mute the video. I couldn't take it. Also, the game is pretty ugly, even for a retro-ish art style. I dunno.. i think I'll pass on this one. I'd rather just go back and play and old zelda game over again.. or maybe Earthbound
lol
I get the aesthetic, but it makes me cringe all the same. I hope everyone else likes it.
nonononono.
I'll DEFINITELY be playing this. It looks absolutely amazing. Love the 2D aspect.
Brilliant Trumpet Solo!
That trumpet was PHENOMENAL!! It's like it's saying "YOU PLAY AS THE HERO!!! ...'s groundskeeper".
@TerrapinJess
Sweet, I did play a little bit, but got lost pretty quick. I hope it gets re-released too. Roaming around the tank was fun and it controlled really well. The soundtrack sounded amazing too.
Graphics are awful and the music sounds like someone is blowing through a cheap straw.
how they made this game.
get the legend of Zelda, animal crossing, rune factory, stardew valley, and a bit of final fantasy.
put it all in a blender and presto! you made a mess!
woooow...this looks...this looks....really boring and bad actually.
@shani It's not plagiarism it's parody. It's meant to make you think of something but just like the trumpet it's not quite right, something is a 'little off' with it's mimicry.
A game about cutting grass? Seems kinda boring when all you had is just a small scythe, how about make the game interesting like for example feature more variety in weapons for example you start with a scythe and then later you can upgrade it to better weapons like a weed cutting scissor, a chainsaw, a sword, or maybe even a lawnmower and also instead of the regular weed type of grass had tougher grass for tougher weapon as well as give rewards to the player for cutting them grass. No rewards, no variety in weapon, no variety in enemies, no variety in conflict, just seems boring. How bout give the dude some bombs so he could blow up cracks for the heroes too. A game about cutting grass is a good idea, you just had to implement it with good features.
I sat down with a kitten when I first watched this, and the cat jumped a bit when the trumpet first started playing the "amazing" solo, and later walked away. She won't even get near my laptop now. :-l
@WillTheLion This is meant as a parody? Like Ittle Dew?
Honestly, I'm not so sure.
With Ittle Dew it's immediately clear that it's a parody because of the content of the speech bubbles. And Ittle Dew doesn't rip-off the look and feel of LoZ + the logo.
In contrast, Legend of Kusakari takes the look & feel of LoZ, it doesn't seem to have any speech bubbles or text boxes that transport the irony that identifies a parody and even the name and the logo are directly taken from LoZ.
This doesn't look like a parody, it looks like straight plagiarism.
Just because something makes you think of something else, doesn't mean it's a parody.
And why does this game have muddy graphics like the N64? Is this supposed to enforce the "retro feeling" to attract more buyers?
I thought this game came out already?
Eh, either way, the game looks hilarious and addicting. I'll have to get it eventually.
@Wandman5612
Aww. Poor kitty
