In today's exciting 3DS Direct, it was not only announced that Picross 3D Round 2 would be coming to the West, but that it'd be launching today in North America as an eShop-only title; it'll come to Europe as a download and boxed game on 2nd December. Previously, the game was only out in Japan, and there was some doubt as to whether or not it would eventually get localised.
It looks like more of the same 3D, block smashing action from the DS predecessor, which certainly isn't a bad thing. There's over 300 puzzles to solve and amiibo functionality will be included where figures can be scanned in to unlock themed puzzles. Also, for those of you that are still on the fence, a free demo has been made available today in North America.

OH COME ON! Why do we have to wait? Then again, we get a physical version.
I'm not complaining seeing as we're getting retail versions of both Picross 3D 2 and Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
Thank god... I had feared... Relief...
Getting this. Loved the first game.
Can someone fill me in if the original Picross 3D was released outside of Japan? I've never seen any publicity for if but I was always interested in it.
we have to wait until December!
Still, super happy we're actually getting it
Day one purchase for me!
No mention of price?
Wait, what? First Rhythm Heaven and now this? I guess there won't be a physical version in NA then? I'm getting both digitally so I'm a bit upset.
Great now i will have to avoid this site for the next 3 months in fear of spoilers
@wiggleronacid It was in Europe, or the UK at least. The original is getting released on the eShop here too.
@wiggleronacid It was.
Wait, AGAIN?!? Kinda annoying that EU has to wait for this and Rhythm Paradise Megamix for so much longer. If the only reason is because they are still producing the physical copies, it's almost unfair to people who are going to download it anyway.
I played Picross on the DS but never the 3D games. I might pick this one up. I remember Picross was great for pick-up and play rounds of gaming.
Awesome, I loved the DS game, can't wait to DW it when I get home from work. Pumped.
December in Europe
Pathetic by Nintendo Europe
I am a fan of nonograms/griddlers, but I will have to get the demo first to see for myself how well it works in 3D. I never owned the original.
@Zanark lmao
If you like Picross, you'll love this. It was so good on the DS!
Yes! This was actually my favorite announcement of the direct!
Really? How about in the uk??
@DadOfFour1972 I think Dec 2nd!
Way too excited to download this later today!
Price?
Awesome that this is finally coming westward, but I haven't played the first Picross 3D, and I currently have no way of reading amiibos on 3DS...
@NESlover85 $29.99.
Awesome!
Yes yes yes yes YES!!!!!!
Digital is better than nothing. And I just got Zelda Picross.
Put 100+ hours on the first one. Cant wait!
...sigh...
...another digital-only release...
This, Rhythm Heaven Megamix, Ace Attorney...
@wiggleronacid
Yes, Picross 3D was released outside of Japan for the Nintendo DS; I have the European version. Completed it many times Best DS game ever (IMHO).
@imgrowinglegs lmao. 29.99 for a digital download! No way! I would have gladly spent 30 dollars for a physical release but not on a download. This is really disappointing news!
All well and good, but 42 bucks Canadian? I know our dollar is weak, but this is legitimately one of the most expensive titles on the eshop for us. And it's a picross game. Come on!
@NESlover85 I'm fine with the price, since I'd get it digital either way. It's a puzzle game, so I'd rather just have it always on my system.
In fact, lately I've just been downloading all of my 3DS and Vita titles. It's so convenient.
@imgrowinglegs I have been downloading some Vita titles and psone classics mainly because of the insane deals they have on the flash sales. But when it comes to Nintendo games, I like owning the physical game. I still have all of my Nintendo games from when I was a kid back in the NES days.
@NESlover85 I like the way you roll.
What do you think? It is a pleasant surprise
Will you be picking this up? YES!
Did you see this coming? Nope, but I had hoped some time ago, but gave up on it.
Thank goodness this also comes to Retail in Europe! Rhythm tengoku also comes to Retail in Europe. We certainly have the upperhand this time!
