Not so long ago Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot teased that the company had a "surprise" game in development, and a recent rumour seems to suggest that it's an RPG which combines the world of Rabbids with Super Mario.
According to LetsPlayVideoGames - a prime source for Switch rumours of late - Ubisoft is currently working on Mario RPG: Invasion of the Rabbids (a working title at present) under the watchful eye of Nintendo:
The title will focus on the Mario universe being invaded by Ubisoft's Rabbids characters, some friend and some foe, and will feature a new Bowser form based around the design of the Rabbids as a recurring boss enemy. While there will be numerous cameo appearances from the Mario series' best known characters, the core party will feature numerous, more minor characters. There is a particular focus on Yoshi as a primary party member, alongside a playable Rabbid.
The title will have a playable demo ready for press to experience in January, and will feature a quicksave system to ensure that saving is possible on short notice if the battery on the Switch handheld is running low. Part of the planned press demo includes the JoyCons vibrating to imply a Rabbid jumping into and out of them from the TV or handheld screen. The idea is to imply your system is infested with Rabbids, and that they could at any time jump out of your controller and interfere with gameplay.
This isn't the first time we've heard this rumour here at Nintendo Life, but this is certainly the most detailed explanation of the title's gameplay. It is believed that the RPG will be ready for the Switch launch and - in the eyes of Nintendo - is set to be a major title for the system. Despite Ubisoft handling the heavy lifting Nintendo intends to position this as a major release in the Mario series, according to LPVG.
Nintendo Life contributor Liam Robertson has heard from other sources which corroborate the report, but with a slightly different spin:
The Raving Rabbids (or "Les Lapins Crétins" as they are known in their native France) started life as part of the Rayman franchise before branching off into their own games, including Rabbids Go Home, Rabbids Land and Rabbids Rumble. They've been pretty quiet of late, so some kind of revival is certainly not out of the question.
What do you make of this report? Do you think Nintendo and Ubisoft are working together on such a high-profile project? Can the world of Rabbids really be fused with that of Super Mario without disasterous results? Let us know with a comment.

Will Princess Daisy be a party member?
Okay this day is getting weirder and weirder. Stay tuned for the next article : "Virtual Boy accessory in development for Switch, with a brand new Pitfall game in the line up"
My reaction!
I hope it's true. It sounds like it has good potential.
And you just know this guy has to be in it.
Sounds ridiculous, but interesting at the same time. It's a Mario RPG (at launch), plus there are party members (which haven't been in Mario RPGs for a while now.) I wonder how the gameplay will differ from the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series.
It's also interesting that this is being developed by Ubisoft, and not Nintendo. I personally think this is more than likely real, and I look forward to seeing its official reveal.
It's a strange idea but maybe it'll work out. They side say the minor characters will take most of the limelight, so if waluigi, wario, and daisy are party members I'm all on board. If I don't like it I got a kid brother who'll love the check out of it anyway. He's REALLY into Rabbids.
Rabbids in a Mario game, why? Mario already has plenty of villains, Rabbids aren't exactly Disney class characters, as this sounds like a very very poor man's Kingdom Hearts wannabe to me.
If Rayman and Mario want to team up, that could be kind of cool, similar yet different, but not the Rabbids, everybody just rightly sees them as mini-game collections, people see this combo they'll just jump to the conclusion of Mario taking the place of Rayman in the first Rabbids game. Or Mario Party:Rabbid Invasion.
My body isn't ready.
I don't have much knowledge on or curiosity about Rabbids, but another Mario crossover and a tactical RPG at that? Can't be bad news. Although in terms of Nintendo-exclusive crossovers, Tokyo Mirage Sessions is a tough act to follow. I still can't believe I've lived to see Persona and Fire Emblem in one game.
Rabbids are overused more than Toads. I hope this isn't true!
Please no
Rabbids in Mario Kart I could see and could add some slapstick comedy into the series, drive erratically, crash often, use items incorrectly, but in a full Mario game?
I dunno.
Even as a team in a Mario sports game definitely, I like the silliness of the Rabbids and my kids love their show, I would like to see them in their own game but I'm not sure I saw this as an option.
Oh well, stranger things have happened.
Sounds nice, hope there will be lots of humor in it if true.
While I definitely think the Rabbids were overused last generation, I did enjoy Rabbids Go Home. I think they've been on hiatus long enough to come out of hiding. This actually seems like a rather interesting premise.
This sounds so far out there, that it could actually work.
Ubisoft have the awesome South Park games under their belt, which have a very similar combat system to the classic Paper Mario games.
I'm intruged! Crazier things have worked in the past!
Sounds nice, hope there will be lots of humor in it if true.
I also want more storytelling in the Mario games (with voice acting)
I'm optomistic. Cautiously optomistic.
Well.... IF this is true, let's just hope it will be a PLEASANT surprise. Not one of those 'Oh my god what have they done!' surprises.
Remove the Rabbids and it's an interesting idea
It all sounds great to me and I hope it comes to be. I wish this LKD and Emily Rodgers would just bugger off though and leave the surprises for Nintendo to reveal.
I don't like Rabbids, so I wouldn't get it.
I have to admit, it sounds far too wacky to be something made up in the spot, which gives it a bit of credibility. Still, I'd prefer to hear more rumors about BG&E, which is more my cup of coffee than this....
I'm quite gobsmacked at this and I wasn't into raving Rabbits. But at least it's trying to be different.I wounder who's idear it was for this.Nintendo or ubisoft.
Yes!!!!!!
Sounds like it could be fun. And a launch title too, which is always welcome.
I'm guessing that they picked the Rabbit's cuz Ubisoft treats them as their "Mascots"? Surely.
Will Rayman show up in this game? Not so Surely.
Is this Crossover kinda silly in more ways than one, in both the best and worst of ways? You betcha it will, Surely?
I would love to see more "crossover" games.
Mario fits in almost everything lol.
So to see some crazy rabbidz driving mario crazy and then he crushes them all like some goombas lol.
So more crossover games would be awesome.
Could have been worse... Could have been Minions...
Who on Earth in Ubisoft is even developing this? Do they even have a dev team with experience in developing straightforward SRPGs?
>_<
Yikes !
A bad day for Mario.
They shouldnt blend mario with some uninteresting rabbids
@Uzuki I imagine that the character who was actually behind this Rabbids infestation was Wario the billionaire, who was able to secure a contract for lucrative mushroom farming lands...which happened to hold a large population of Rabbids.
The final battle of the game involves battling against gold-plated Wario and his gold-plated army, with Waluigi on your side because he lost everything in Wario's casinos...
I was kinda hoping for the next AC game to be a Switch exclusive, perhaps a remake of the original a la Twin Snakes.
Then Altaïr to make an appearance in the next Smash.
Rabbids are kinda lame, but Mario RPGs have always been at least good if not absolutely amazing.
@BensonUii Who said "initial", crybaby? And guess what? I edited it again. You really are a sad little troll! It's a potential good news story but you have to be the Debbie Downer.
@RadioHedgeFund No, exclusive Anno game instead, please.
With an actual city as playable character. Preferably ones that have 100-storey skyscrapers and miles and miles of suburbs.
@BensonUii That's hardly hostile and honestly you deserve it. Why do you care that I edited my post? Why should anyone care? I edited this post too. Who cares? Now leave me alone please!
I really hope Rayman's involved in this game cuz he's in other games with rabbids as well.
This sounds so weird that can't possibly be false... Or... It is a false lead Nintendo has told someone to try and find the people responsible for current leaks, and plug it.
That would be a nice move for Nintendo's Ninjas...
Also the Reality in my head is way cooler than the reality outside.
Dear Nintendo - do two things and you will guarantee I buy a Switch and try to convince all my friends to do the same thing.
1) Rogue Squadron game.
2) Advance Wars game.
Thank you.
The Wii and Wii U launched with a Rabbids game, so this does not surprise me. The crossover is definitely out there.
@TheWPCTraveler Depends on which Ubisoft office is working on it. The Canadian branch do plenty of JRPG style games like, Child of Light. With the help from Obsidian the Californa branch has worked on both South Park games, one is an turn base RPG and the other is an SRPG.
That actually sounds pretty cool.
Rabbids? Those ugly looking cartoon rabbits?
I'll need to see it to believe it. I can't really see how a crossover game would work yet.
If it's a grid-based RPG, count me out. Otherwise, I'm oddly interested.
This doesn't sit well with me. I don't associate the Rabbids with particularly stellar or meaningful games, so all I see coming out of this is some casual meh. It's not the kind of game that's going to get me excited about Switch in the slightest in terms of third party support if this is the kind of thing Ubisoft is bringing to the table. Just Dance, a casual Mario & Rabbids crossover . . . Not excited by this announcement at all. I really hope Ubisoft has got better stuff than this in store for Switch.
These were the first Minions. They replaced an already existing property and they ruined it by yelling and screaming. These things ruined Rayman and I just want these things to die.
That'd be interesting.
@impurekind I'm cautiously optimistic. If there is one thing the Mario RPGs excel at its the humor/writing. Rabbids could be an interesting vehicle for that.
The official list of what can be expected in this game:
-SM64DS Rabbits
-MIPS
-Star Bunnies
-Nabbit
-Rabbit Mario from SML2
Why? Because those are minor Mario-characters and rabbits.
I don't like the Rabbids games at all, but I guess we'll have to see how the gameplay is. I really doubt I would ever buy this game, though.
The two universes are so different that I can't really fully imagine it, but it's crazy enough to actually work, particularly if they go with the Mario & Luigi style for the Mario side. I can almost hear the italian giberish from Partners in Time, followed by a classic "AAAAAHHHHHHHH!" from a rabbid. I'd love that
A party made up of minor characters? Fingers crossed for Captain Rainbow!
... ... ... (stunned silience) ...
Argggghhh. I can't work out if this could work or not. My heart and guts say no way. My brain says Nintendo could pull this off in a tongue-in-cheek style so I hope they have a strong helping hand in development.
This is not far-fetched to me at all. People seem to accuse Ubisoft of 'hating' Nintendo because of the Rayman situation, but they had to do that to avoid taking a huge loss. They created ZombiU for the Wii U launch, while they never did anything unique for the PS4 or Xbone, they just got upgraded PS3/360 games for launch. They sound like pretty big fans of Nintendo to me, although obviously projects still need to make financial sense.
it can work better than most of people think.
I bet will be good.
Captain toad like a party member was be cool.
I hate the Rabbids, argh. Hope it works out in the end, though.
Rabbids were a Wii thing. I'm not sure about this particular rumour. I'd have thought Nintendo would want to distance themselves from the Wii name as much as possible.
Also, cross contamination is never really a Nintendo priority.
I'm not particularly up for this tbh.
I honestly hope this isn't ubis big gun. It won't attract many specially if it's not that great. I don't see too many adults being comfortable enough to play this on the go. Specially with all the annoying noises they make. If this is prepare for underwhelming sales and ubi abandoning the switch due to these sales.
I can see what they are doing. They are switching, sorry, their strategy. Last time they tried an adult game at launch (Zombi U). This time they're trying a kid friendly approach. Hope the quality is there, I will support it if it is.
I dont see the connection but at the same time Ubisoft were one of the only 3rd party devs who stuck with them through the Wii U's life cycle so its no real shock they'd get a launch game. Giving them a Mario RPG tie in (or whatever the game ends up being) seems to me like Nintendo's way of thanking them for their continued support through the last couple of generations
@rjejr I see them as the precursor to the oh so popular minions. They sound alike and are both quite eccentric.
I am not a Rabbids fan, but I give it a chance (for now).
I wasn't keen when the original rumour surfaced but SRPG? Completely outlandish? I'm actually interested now!
I'm probably in the minority but I love the Rabbids, and as strange as this set up sounds I would welcome this but I'd rather have Rabbids Go Home 2.
A Mario RPG? What nonsense! They already have Mario & Luigi. Why on earth would consumers want another one? No studio in the history of every has maintained more than one RPG franchise.
Seriously I hope this has some sort of Rayman presence.
Yeah, so it sounds outlandish but what a great way in to the lucrative Japanese market for Ubi...
Looks awesome if true. I used to play Raving Rabbids on my Wii just for the FPS plunger sequences.
Never thought this would happen! I'm willing to give this a try, though! I love the Rabbids! It's also nice to hear that some minor characters are going to be given a nice role in the game, but I still hope Luigi is playable! I hope Rayman will be in the game, too!
Bandai Namco + Nintendo = Go Vacation Wii, Disney Magical World 1+2 3DS
SquareEnix + Nintendo = Mario Sports Mix Wii, Mario 3 on 3 Hoops NDS
SEGA + Nintendo = Mario & Sonic Olympic series
TT Fushion + Nintendo = LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER (Wii U + 3DS)
Marvelous + Nintendo = Story of Seasons series
Syn Sophia + Nintendo = Style Savvy 3
EA + Nintendo (I'm not really sure) = My Sims series
Nintendo + Capcom = Luigi Mansion Arcade
Ubisoft + Nintendo = Just Dance (with Mario songs), Rabbids Switch??? (Gosh...!)
Well, the crossover between Nintendo and third party that I know so far.
Oh Dear, please god no! They are even worse than Minions! Are Nintendo that hard up on ideas that they have to sink this low?
@whanvee "Minions" have had 3 or 4 movies, they're stars, they'd be a better fit for Mario, rabbids are just the mascots of shovelware.
I'd rather Mario battel these minions, they were great, evil Pikmin.

"According to LetsPlayVideoGames - a prime source for Switch rumours of late"
So now we know who to blame for all the baseless rumor articles that have cropped up. NL really found the jackpot huh?
@Bunkerneath
From far I know, Ubisoft ever published games from Magic Pocket (Jake Power series on NDS, The Smurfs 2015 3DS) and those of them are Abbysmall quality games. Ugh... I don't know if Ubisoft is being overconfident and peppy.
I can think of a bajillion properties I'd rather see crossed with the Mario series before Rabbids... a waste of a good concept IMHO.
@TheWPCTraveler Ubisoft San Francisco worked on the South Park RPGs (at least after Obsidian fell apart), but I think they're still busy with developing the second one.
GREAT! sarcasm
I never cared for the Rabbids from the start and from what I saw they got more and more annoying as Ubisoft abandoned Rayman altogether to shoe horn these things into every release. If this was at least being developed by Nintendo I'd be interested but not currently if Ubisoft are in charge. I'll wait for reviews on this one
Well, I suppose there are at least rumours of quite a few games. That has to be good even if not all are appealing to everyone.
I didn't mind the first Rabbids game. The rest were poor though. Still, to be honest, I'd personally rather have this than Pokemon. Before I get the questions, that is not to say that there is anything wrong with Pokemon; it's a great franchise that's very successful. I would just like to have other options.
Here is my comment. Take it or leave it.
@rjejr I completely agree. I've just always been of the state of mind that minions were kind of rabbit rip offs. Much more popular ones mind you but the personalities and even sound effects are ridiculously similar.
@whanvee Minions are probably a little bit Rabbid rip-offs, but more people still pay attention to movies than vidoegames, so I'd rather see Mario in a parring w/ the Despicable Me universe than Rabbids. Well unless he teams up w/ Rayman to fight the rabbids, but I haven't sen nay mention of Rayman yet. Rayman or no buy, or something.
At first I was excited for a new Mario RPG....but then I saw the Rabbids.
I HATE Rabbids. They have the worst character design EVER. This is even worse than SM RPG which got ruined by its awful Square characters.
I wish they don't ruin Mario & Luigi Series
Ugh another dud form Ubisoft. No thank you.
I actually think this is a fun idea if true.
I can believe this.
In the past few years Nintendo has shoehorned their IP into several games in which it didn't belong as a way to boost software sales.
My body is saying NO. But my heart is saying NOOO!
Please, no. Just give us Super Mario RPG 2 with Geno and Mallow returning to the scene.
@fbnaulin that would be marvellous but they kinda need Square Enix to do it...
I remember there was a rumor months ago about another Yoshi game with the rabbids in them. Guess it was partially correct? The rabbid characters in question are designed specifically for children. But you have to put yourself in a mindset that it's okay to have immature characters, it's for the sake of everyone's fun. Get what I'm saying? Then maybe everyone can enjoy the game too! Like I did with Rabbids Go Home and I was definitely past the "age" for it.
I need to see this before I judge this game. Premise is ridiculous.
This sounds like it would be good, but I'm getting a little tired of the rumors on the Switch. This isn't news, it's just people wanting attention and viewers to get a little cash, so why believe something that nobody knows it's true? Wait until January, it's not that far away, then the truth will be told. I loved the people that said dumb things like 'There will be a Mario game coming for Switch'...then, the video happened and they said they were 'right' even though everybody knew a Mario game would be coming no matter what! It's just like flapping your money around at a Psychic and believing the questions they say! It's rumors!!!!
Anyways, I'll believe it when I see it...I don't even know why I keep on reading up on this...but for some reason, I didn't see the 'Rumor' tag above and thought this was actually coming from Ubisoft or Nintendo. It's kind of funny though with all the comments, especially when probably half of these people were the ones that have been constantly putting Ubisoft down as a developer, giving them non-stop hate, and then they now praise them for something that they would like to see...doesn't make much sense!
THIS SOUNDS AWESOME TO ME!!
I hope it's legit!!
@Furealz Rabbids go Home was one of the best Rabbids titles...lots of fun and a good game! I've been waiting for a good one to come to the PS3 and PS4 (Rabbids Invasion was okay, but not what I was hoping for)...hopefully, they start releasing them more and giving them a better chance...but I'm also hoping for a new Super Monkey Ball to come out on all the systems too...seems like it's been a while with those (3DS and VITA were the last ones to get one).
More Mario, less Rabbids please.
If it provides a fun story, with great and different gameplay, I say why not?
It's Nintendo's version of the DC/Mortal Kombat cross-over, and that worked, so this could work too.
The negative responses to this are way too soon, let's wait and see how it turns out first before grabbing our torches and pitchforks...
Sounds pretty cool. From the sounds of things perhaps Yoshi is the main character.
The Rabbids are a bit odd but I think if you've enjoyed the Mario & Luigi RPGs which have characters like Fawful then it's a little dubious to be down on the Rabbids. The Rabbids aren't serious characters...but since when are any of the Mario RPGs that serious? The cast even down to the villains(with a handful of exceptions) tend to be wacky or zany with odd speech patterns.
@TheWPCTraveler Ubisoft developed Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars for the Nintendo 3DS launch, it's a very good turn based strategy game. If this game is being made by that team it's probably going to be very good and up there with Fire Emblem or Advance War ins level of quality.
It's so crazy it just might work. I think the Rabbid games, although patchy , we're good funny irreverent giggles. I'd be day one on this just on the idea alone!
Kinda interesting, if it's true I wanna see more.
Nobody's body is ready for this. It's so crazy that it could actually work.
I'd much prefer a Rayman RPG crossover. Or a Sonic RPG crossover. Or a Mega Man RPG crossover.
Anything other than the freakin' Rabbids, geez...
Ummm........wha?
If Nintendo wanted to partner with a 3rd party studio for a new Mario RPG, why not Square Enix?
I hate the Rabbids!
I hate them! I hate them!! I hate them!!!
This sounds pretty cool, and might even get me to enjoy strategy RPGs...
Hmm...well I like rabbids (in small doses) so hey this might be fun if it is true.
Hey Ubisoft, bring For Honor with the rabbids would you?
Fire Emblem you say?
Pick a god and pray.
Please no... The Rabbids need to join the "Despicable Me" Minions in a deep dark well to be forgotten.
Not... sure about this. At all. The Rabbids are pretty annoying and while the Mario series is full of goofy characters, almost none of them are straight up obnoxious. There's a pretty large tonal disconnect between the Rayman and Mario universes as it is, and Rabbids are even more out there.
Kind of hope this is on the same level as that old StarFox x Metroid crossover idea... namely a nonsense rumour. But, y'know, it's 2016, the Year of Stupid, so it's probably true.
Defo interesting in checking this game out if it's true that is.
Well. That sounds... Intriguing.
I didnt care until I read RPG
Before they got overused the rabbids were pretty damn entertaining. This could be very awesome, especially if it features all the references the early rabbid games had.
Very, very strange indeed. But I'll certainly give it a chance. I could always use more Rpgs, of any kind, in my life.
Please...no...please don't.
Well, this is the most ridiculous thing I've heard for a while, and yet it's crazy enough that it might just happen... at least it sounds like the most original mario RPG for quite a while.
I wish they could've revved up a Mario X Mercedes RPG!
Eh, I'd rather these two didn't crossover, but it doesn't bother me. The only thing that excited me reading that was 'RPG', though.
@cantisque this, this, a billion times, this!
I hope this turns out to be untrue.
If this rumor ends up being true, then I am hoping Ubisoft will deliver on the gameplay and battle system. I'm a huge fan of Mario RPGs and I will be honest and say that they have started to tank for me. Paper Mario, despite me liking all five games released thus far, is no longer the series we knew and loved while Mario & Luigi is an RPG series that I'm...starting to get tired of for building too much off of BIS (despite me enjoying Dream Team and Paper Jam). There hasn't been a Mario RPG that truly knocked my socks off since the days of Super Mario RPG, the first two Paper Mario games, and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and I'd like for that magic from the last three games I mentioned to return (and no, that magic IS NOT nostalgia). Super Paper Mario's a great game for its story and characters, but its gameplay and RPG elements left a lot to be desired for me while the post-Superstar Saga M&L games have gotten far too happy with the Minigame Attacks and Giant Battles (though not in PiT), among other small little gimmicks that turn me off at times. I enjoyed Sticker Star and Color Splash, but both of them aren't games I'd put in the Scrapbook of Cherished Memories or in an Expensive Gold-plated frame to put on a wall.
If this ends up being false, then Nintendo seriously needs to make both Mario RPG series amazing again. If the Mario RPGs continue to go in the direction they are at now, I am going to be feeling disappointment from here on in.
"There is a particular focus on Yoshi as a primary party member"
I love Yoshi, but if this is going to be a Mario RPG, then the main man himself needs to be in the frontlines, at least from the start of the game. I just don't want to see a Mario game, where the main man himself is not available from the start like how Mario Golf 64 and Super Mario 64 DS was (I'd compare those two to Mario Party: Star Rush, but for how it handled Toad Scramble, I never had a problem with it).
Well, that's one Mario RPG I won't need to buy. I hate those annoying mutant rodents.
I've decided to create a bingo card with all of the rumours and see what will come to pass, because right now it's getting so weird I don't know what to think!
@FantasiaWHT I agree. They'd have me too. Unfortunately, it's unlikely the heads of Factor 5 would be involved in a Rogue Squadron game. However, there was the unreleased Rogue Squadron trilogy for the Wii - which was finished - but that's in Disney's hands now.
I don't write it off, since it could still be interesting. But if we only get this and not Beyond Good and Evil 2, I will be VERY dissapointed!!!
Sounds interesting and it could work. If this is true, than the main character seems to be Yoshi but it's supposed to be a FE-style game. To be great I think we are gonna need a good story, since games like FE usually have a lot of story. It also looks like the main army will consist of less famous Mario characters with Yoshi leading them. I think perfect characters for this role are: Nabbit, Waluigi, Daisy, Captain Toad, Diddy Kong, the babies, and Birdo. This is very interesting, it could be an excellent game or a disaster. Also, Ubisoft South Park: The Stick of Truth, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, and The Child of Light under their belt. If this rumor is true (and I can see it being true), then I'll definitely wanna see where this goes. We'll probably be able to tell what direction this goes in by its first trailer if we see any gameplay.
And one more thing, Ubisoft was teasing a surprise game in development, it could be this.
@TheLegendOfLaser Sadly, there's about zero chance of a decent story in either an Ubisoft game or a game involving minor Nintendo characters and Rabbids. What sort of dialogue are you going to get with them and Nabbit, for example?
As much as I'd like to play a game with Captain Syrup or Daisy in a starring role, I don't see it happening.
RPG is a very strange choice if true.
In my humble opinion rabbids is equivalent to shovelware.
I am entitled to my opinion.
@Hotfusion Your opinion is correct, in my opinion.
This sounds fun. I would love to see characters such as Wario and even Wart (SMB2/USA) make an extended cameo.
Sounds like an interesting idea/rumor.
I think if this is true, I like that the battle system is different (strategy RPG), and the focus on minor characters is a good idea. In fact, that should be a primary focus. Don't include mario, wario, peach, etc (other than cameos to move the story along), maybe not even luigi (in spite of his reputation to play second fiddle, he's still popular and story developed often enough). Explore and use and develop the other characters. Tell us what these characters do while mario is out saving the world/galaxy. This would enable more creativity and enable them to stray from the standard 'mario' kind of way of doing things (and would make more sense in this kind of wacky crossover, and it could make 'sense' story timeline-wise).
Smash Bros is a big hit, and I hear Project X zone was pretty big, so crossovers like this have potential to be received well I think, granted that the underlying game is good enough (though the hook is interesting enough where that may not matter as much, though of course I hope it excels and is polished).
I'm not a huge fan of rabbids (don't dislike, but don't hugely like), but I think they're a good fit for a wacky crossover. Like the Despicable Me minions, they're mischievous nature is charming, and the story from there could write itself practically. Though, they're primarily known for slapstick humor, so I'm curious as to whether or how they might convey that humor in a videogame setting.
Sounds LAME. Ubisoft are trying too hard with this rabbids things. They're just not interesting characters.
Please god no.
To be honest, Bugs Bunny from Looney Tunes is more attractive and more handsome than ugly Rabbid. Sorry for my harsh confession.
To be really honest, I have never been keen on the Rabbids, they always used to annoy me like crazy and they used to appear everywhere when the Wii came out! Which is why I was glad the Rayman series moved on with Origins/Legends. Now a Rayman/Mario crossover could actually work, but only if it was made by the right people. (Maybe it could use Ubiart to bring both visual styles together?) That sounds more like it!
Let's hope not what a load of rubbish! Rabbits was trash on the Wii u launch and along with a load of other trash at launch was really damaging to the system.
No thanks
@Aurelis You definitely have a point, and it'll be no Fire Emblem. But, by the least we could see some interaction between characters like Daisy and Waluigi. (They both have to be in if it's gonna star minor characters in the Mario universe.)
@TheLegendOfLaser We'll see, Nintendo makes weird choices when it comes to minor character representation, remember Mario Kart 7?
True. I'll remain curious, but skeptical.
