In addition to Super Mario Run and Miitomo, there are currently two more games planned for release next year: Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing. Aside from the fact that they're in development, not a whole lot is known about these, though it is expected that they will mirror the main games in some way. Interestingly enough, a couple images were recently found in the data of Miitomo that seem to point towards the upcoming Fire Emblem game.
The Cutting Room Floor—a site dedicated to digging up data in games—recently discovered an image in Miitomo that depicts a Fire Emblem style map. On its own, this image wouldn't have drawn much attention, but another image was found close by that depicts the symbol in the officially revealed Fire Emblem Mobile logo. It's anybody's guess as to why these are in Miitomo, but it's likely that there will be some kind of cross compatibility between the apps. Perhaps these images could mean that Fire Emblem will come before Animal Crossing.
What do you think? What will the Fire Emblem mobile game be like? Do you think it could launch soon?

This is easily the Nintendo franchise most suitable to a touchscreen implementation. They should be able to come up with something quite good.
^Probably a bit of an overstatement, but I do love FE!
Interesting find for sure. But sometimes i wonder if not knowing any information pre release would be better? The mystery and eventual surprise is half the fun in life. Our generation, whatever that even means, just doesn't like delayed gratification anymore. You hear and see so much news and leaks and video footage about games and hardware nowadays that you may as well not even buy them.
Yeah! Bring on moar FIAAAAAA EMBUREEEEEEM!!
...But seriously, I'm interested to see how this game turns out.
As for non-mobile, I'm hoping for a remake of a past game (like Binding Blade) in the style of Awakening/Fates on the 3DS, and a brand new game on the Switch. I think it'd be really cool if that happened.
@Dezzy I thought AC is the perfect game for mobile
@OdnetninAges TMS#FE is really good yes I know I said this out of nowhere but when you said FIAAAA EMBUREEM I just have to say it
That doesn't show us much, but at least this gives us proof that they are working on it. The fact that they found this in Miitomo rather than the Animal Crossing game probably means that we are getting the FE game first.
I've never really given Fire Emblem a chance but I'm still going to try out this game when it launches. Provided Nintendo remembers Android users and it's not a 2GB game.
Color me cautious.
After the awful Fates, I'm not eager to jump back into the FE saddle. And the Animal Crossing on mobile is also a tricky proposition given how easy it would be to implement microtransactions in that series.
Eh, whatever makes them moneyz.
I just hope it's not a microtransaction fest.
Or at least have an option to do a one-time payment to get the full game.
This is really cherry-picking from all of the images found together. My guess is that it's for Miitomo wallpaper.
@Browny Why did you think Fates was awful? I thought it was quite good.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy
It could also be a background for a miitomo drop stage...stage? Is that what we call those? Game? Page?
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy I'm not sure about Browny, but for those of use who played previous Fire Emblem titles, Fates (and Awakening) have been pretty big departures from the first 10 titles in the series. Fates in particular suffered from a pretty terrible story no matter which version you picked (although Conquest wasn't too bad). While the maps and objectives were a lot more creative, the characters overall were just incredibly uninspired and never deviated from the usual tropes you see in basic stories.
As for the news at hand, I guess it's a cool map. I'm still excited to see what this game ends up being. I'm not expecting a ton from a mobile game, but I'm curious how Fire Emblem will translate to this kind of thing. I could easily see it being more casual version of the GBA titles, which I'm secretly hoping for. My biggest question is what kind of story implementation is used, assuming it's free to play.
The real questions are:
can you bath with your imoutos?
can you S rank all the waifus?
can you fondle your waifus?
I'm really hoping the mobile game will have those features /s
FE Fates had all the signs of being a potential mobile game especially with the Castle building aspect.
In celebration of the upcoming Fire Emblem mobile game, Nintendo will release 2 new Miitomo hats. Orange and grapefruit.
I still think the AC game will be more of a companion game to the console version(s) and not a fill on one.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy
It's as @nf_2 said. I started with the series back on GBA with the sixth game. The GBA titles were all highlights, and then it went to the Gamecube with a mediocre entry IMO. The Wii one was awful. The DS and 3DS games were flat out terrible. The series has lost direction in my eyes, and Fates was a hollow shell of the reasons I enjoyed FE. Awakening wasn't much better, but it did have just a smidgen more heart and effort overall compared to Fates.
2016 has given me three failures for long running franchises I followed. Fire Emblem was way back in February. Pokemon and Final Fantasy were more recent. Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy both I knew would be crap from the start. Pokemon was the surprise disappointment.
Been playing through several FE games recently and I've been getting a little excited to hear about what this one will be like. I think it would be kind of nice to have an FE game that I can play pretty much anywhere with ease. Not expecting a full fledged game, but I'm hoping it will be decent.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy Yeah, it's likely just a wallpaper, but there's still an obvious connection to the Fire Emblem game. Makes me wonder how much longer till we hear more about these two games though, they release sometime in the next three months.
@Browny Huh. Birthright was actually my first Fire Emblem game, so I guess I don't have the perspective of playing the previous ones. ¯\(ツ)/¯
Now how did Pokémon disappoint?
@khaosklub I would love some FE costumes- an Ike costume in particular would be amazing.
While I'm at it, where's our Yarn Poochy costumes? I want to dress like Yarn Poochy in different colors (the colors of my profile pic in particular would be great).
I know this sounds odd, but can we have a HD remaster of New Mystery of the Emblem (or even shadow dragon). Just a graphical update, no newer features like skin shipping and marriage. ( and yes I know marriage was introduced in Genealogy )
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy
Pokemon was shorter than previous games. Far more linear than any previous game. The hand-holding was especially bad. A few good UI and quality of life improvements, but the connectivity features that XY did right were actually dismantled and made worse.
Everything about it was so disgustingly chipper it made me want to gag. I miss when Pokemon games weren't afraid to write dialogue that was confrontational, even if it was grade school levels of confrontational. Oh and I hated the two characters that pretty much never leave your side; Hau made me want to strangle the kid and Lillie was such a wet blanket.
@Frosty_09
To be perfectly honest, I disliked the jump to the 3D visually. I also disliked the removal of Dark magic and diluting Anima magic into Fire/Lightning/Wind magics. But my issues with the game are mostly my own thing coming from three GBA games that were all very similar and consistently improved upon the preceding title. So take my harsh words with a grain of salt.
@Browny I'm guessing you never made it past the second island?
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy
And you'd be guessing wrong. "Pokemon was shorter than previous games."
I finished the whole game in 22 hours. It never got better. It was abysmal from start to finish. Pokemon games are never hard, but considering one of the things I heard from friends was how Sun/Moon were SOOO much harder than previous games, imagine my disappointment when that was all lies.
Also, island trials? A terribly poor substitute for gyms. And I didn't think you could do worse than themed gyms. Apparently I was wrong, and Game Freak found a way. And that was to remove them altogether.
@Browny huh, I will be getting Sun later this month, but I've heard almost nothing but praise for the game so it's a bit of a surprise to hear some criticisms. I'm hoping that I do enjoy it when I go trough it though. Didn't quite get a whole lot of enjoyment from XY and ORAS. (Still have to beat OR...)
Also the wind, thunder and Fire magics were in previous FE games, but were put into anima in the GBA games. (And were changed back in PoR/RD and back to anima again)
I personally enjoyed Radiant Dawn, but it does have its flaws, especially in the story. DS games were remakes and followed them pretty close to the originals so that may be a reason why. Multiplayer in them was my favourite though and I'd love to have another game with the same multiplayer options. (FoW, objective to capture, etc.)
Awakening was decent and yeah there is a lot I dislike in Fates. (Conquest gameplay was generally pretty good at least)
@Browny You really never had trouble with the game? What was your ending team.
I honestly found it to be pretty difficult, especially versus the champion. I loved the game all in all.
But hey, different coats for different folks or however that saying goes.
@yokokazuo
While I'd love to say everyone is just still in the honeymoon period and praising the game blindly, that the faults will come out down the line, it's also possible I am just in the minority. But I have played every Pokemon game since it started, and I have no ill will against the series when I say that, in my own opinion, Sun/Moon is only better than Diamond and Pearl. Here's hoping you enjoy the game more than I did.
(And yeah, I learned about the magic thing after the fact for Fire Emblem. But I just loved it a lot more as Anima in GBA games, and the GBA sprite art in general.)
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy
I never suffered a single loss. And aside from a couple instances against one Elite Four member, I never even had fainted Pokemon. It was that easy for me.
My team in the end consisted of: Decidueye, Ninetails, Arcanine, Vaporeon, Fearow and Mimikyu.
@yokokazuo for what it's worth the things the other person pointed out as flaws I thought were great. I liked that gyms were gone and the trials felt more natural and really felt appropriate to the location. Also I've been to Hawaii and people are generally pretty happy and friendly there compared to other places around the world I've been too. The Hau charecter was a bit annoying, but Lillie was great.
@Browny Huh, that's interesting. What were their levels by the end?
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy
High 50s to low 60s I believe. I sent the team to my best friend's copy of Sun, that she might look after them until Gen 8 of 'mons rolls around. Once I beat the game I immediately deleted it and sold it off.
@Browny That might explain things. My team was mid-high 40's with a level 51 Alolan Raichu.
@Browny Ah, I see. I will have to see what I think of it then when I go through it.
Also the GBA sprites are also my favourite and it would be nice to see them used again. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I'm hoping it will be used in the mobile game perhaps to use less space.
So when your phone battery dies, it's dead for good?
i'm hoping this is a fire emblem spin-off and not just the tropes referred to as characters from awakening/fates and the characters with less dialogue than denning in shadow dragon
I wonder if that bottom right thing is significant, or whether it's just artistic map nonsense.
@SanderEvers
Fire Emblem: All The Fates(t).
Although it's a mobile game I'm looking forward to it. The latest Fire Emblem games have been very good at refining the gameplay-wise so I don't think there's much to worry about with a mobile game with less story focus.
I'd have to disagree with the sentiment here about the GBA titles. Despite starting with FE7(Or Fire Emblem[GBA]) and still thinking it's a pretty good game having played the whole series the GBA era was an era of stagnation. The gameplay design was basically at a standstill and it wasn't because they perfected it or something. Classes like Archers were as bad in FE8(Sacred Stones) as they were in FE6(Binding Blade/Roy's game) classes like Paladins with Javelins were flat out better in all three entries. The biggest balancing they did was notice something new was powerful(Luna in FE7) and then nerf it into uselessness(FE8) the next game. Whereas issues like where female characters had less constitution throughout the whole GBA era which was basically an inherent nerf they never fixed. They just didn't care, they slapped out the same core game with near enough the same visuals three games in a row with a couple extra features and a new story and people slurped it up.
One of the reasons I enjoy Fates so much is that in addition to balancing the new ideas Awakening brought forward they made changes and refinements to the existing formula that were essentially over a decade overdue. Like actually balancing the Javelins/Hand Axes, making it so bow users actually have the most powerful combat at 2-range since they're limited to it.
People call the GBA era "classic" Fire Emblem and something they want a return to. But I disagree, Intelligent Systems are now clearly working towards actively improving their games now and making real refinements to the gameplay formula while introducing new elements. Some people have issue with the story, but you can't say they didn't try when they went out of their way to get a professional writer for Fates. I'd rather have what they're doing now than what they were doing FE6 - FE8.
Those are some crazy pictures, please dont post spoilers
@Nintendo_Ninja you don't necessarily need proof that they are working on it, since they confirmed the project earlier this year for a 2017 release.
@SanderEvers
Wait, that was a pun on Final Fantasy: All The Bravest...
Fire Emblem is the best! Even this mobile crap may be good!
Miitomo 2: Fire Emblem Edition
I really disliked Fates, so my expectations for a new Fire Emblem are at an all time low.
I'll wait and see what reviews say of this one when it finally releases.
@Igetin
I actually got into a lengthy discussion regarding the EXP Share, and I am of the mindset that it has nothing to do with the difficulty of the game. The EXP Share didn't exist in this capacity in older games (aside from XY) and that didn't make those games harder. Thing is, Pokémon by its very design is easy. I don't fault the games for that.
What I fault Sun/Moon with is the abundance of opportunities to heal your team. Older games limited your chance to restore your team to Pokémon Centers or once in a blue moon an NPC on the road. Sun/Moon on the other hand had that annoying Lillie following you around almost the entire journey, giving you free healing along the way. Sometimes the game just healed you out of the blue after scripted scenes and fights. That one also annoyed me to no end.
Older games turned into battles of attrition at times. Because you weren't sure when you'd get a chance to heal up, you played conservatively. The appearance of the rival character was thrilling not because they were challenging, but because half the time they show up out of the blue and before you've had a chance to heal up. What is the point of fighting Hau if every time he challenges me I'm fully healed beforehand? I already know he's not going to be a challenge.
The AI was not improved either, I'll have you know. Oftentimes I found myself fighting with a Pokémon at a type disadvantage only for my opponent (wild mon or trainer) never to use a type effective move on me. On top of all this, the calling for help mechanic is one of the worst ideas they have ever implemented. Including the abysmal Festival Plaza.
So yeah, I have tons of criticisms regarding this game. And I sometimes question my sanity when I discuss it with people because they don't seem bothered by the issues. But I have played Pokémon longer than many I know, so who knows? XY did a lot of things right, but Sun/Moon feels like two steps forward, two steps back.
If it does, I hope it goes back to its roots and is intellectually challenging.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy
You know we'll be getting a shoulder poochy when wooly world 3ds comes out!
More Fire Emblem is always a good thing.
I can only imagine watered down versions of both games for mobile which makes me believe I won't be interested in either. Why settle for anything less? I'd be thrilled if I was proven wrong.
@Syrek24
Here's a tip: rather than a poor attempt at humor and/or trolling, add to the conversation. I don't appreciate being labeled an elitist for sharing my opinion of a game, especially when I did so in a clear, calm discussion with other users.
It is disrespectful to me, and to @Luna_110 . I'd ask you to refrain from doing it in the future, but it's likely you would ignore that request, and hide behind the excuse that it was all a joke.
I personally don't have high expectations for the mobile Fire Emblem game, but that map does look pretty nice.
@Browny Thanks!
@Syrek24
I actually liked Awakening, and my problem isn't with Fates' mechanics. My problem is with the dumb protagonist who must be the biggest Mary Sue in the story of FE.
Ike was disliked by Daein after the Mad King's War, Micaiah had to deal with people disliking her for the attack on the apostle, Sigurd fell in a trap and paid with his life, Marth lived in exile after the initial attack on Altea...
And Corrin? He screws up almost all the game and no one calls him on it. At the end of Conquest, he says he is happy to have more sisters now - and what about the damage he made to Hoshido? No one blames him. Same in Birthright with Nohr, no one blames him. He may be decent in Revelations, but not that much better.
There's 2 ways I think this FE Mobile game will most likely go:
1. Brand new story and characters making it pretty much a new entry into the series. Then later on a ton of events added in for returning characters from other games.This will be priced similarly to Mario Run.
2. Random Summoning/Gacha style game where each character has a different star rating. However you can still recruit some characters from story missions. This would mean micro-transactions, but still have free events for returning characters.
@nf_2
I agree that the story and characters in Fates were disappointing, especially contrasting against such remarkable and memorable characters in Awakening, but that doesn't mean I think it was awful. It's still an exceptional game, one of the best handheld entries to date. The maps were honestly the best in the series I've ever seen. Even the DLC maps were perfection. And the gameplay was so well balanced (which was Awakening's big flaw, glad they fixed pair ups).
But ya. Was Fates disappointing with respect to characters, story and dialog? Absolutely. Was it awful? Heck no, it was a great game. Just... not the best in the series to date (which is what it should have been). I really dig the ambition though. Making separate games for the split fanbase must have been an enormous undertaking.
@JaxonH I didn't want to give the impression that Fates is awful, I enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as I did with previous entries. I agree with the maps being fantastic, and most of the actual mechanics and flow in the game were exceptional. I won't say that previous FE entries had pristine writing or stories, but Fates, especially Birthright, was just flat out bad in terms of story and character development. I liked the idea of seeing both sides, but the execution just didn't land, in large part due to Corrin being so poorly written and predictable.
