Update:
Nintendo of Europe has confirmed a similar limited edition, but with the amiibo also included:
Original Article:
It's that time, dear readers, for the limited edition sweepstakes! It's that fun game in which Nintendo announces a really attractive special edition that'll probably be rarer than unicorn droppings, so you'll need to grab pre-orders to have any chance.
This time around it's a Limited Edition Bundle in North America for the upcoming Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. The reimagining of Fire Emblem Gaiden arrives on 19th May, and the limited edition will arrive on the same day for $59.99USD - that's only $20 more than the basic game. Considering all of the goodies you get that seems like a rather tasty deal.
The Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Limited Edition bundle includes the game; a hardcover Valentia Artbook; a Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Sound Selection CD; a Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Pin Set depicting characters Alm, Celica and Marth; and a reversible cover sheet that looks like the packaging for the original Famicom game this new one is based on. It will be available at a suggested retail price of $59.99 at select retailers.
Some details on amiibo functionality have also been re-confirmed, relating to the new figures (Alm and Celica) as well as existing Fire Emblem characters.
When used in the game, these amiibo will activate their own exclusive dungeons, allowing heroes to earn items and level up their armies further by defeating bosses. By selecting Mila's Turnwheel from the menu on the overworld map, they will also be able to take advantage of their Alm and Celica amiibo in battle. During combat, players can sacrifice a portion of Alm or Celica's health in order to summon a computer-controlled illusory hero, which will act as a temporary ally for a single turn.
As Alm and Celica get stronger, their stats can be saved to their respective amiibo, allowing their summoned unit to grow in strength alongside them. In addition, all Fire Emblem amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. series can be used to summon an illusory hero of that character, allowing players to seek assistance from spectral visages of Marth, Ike, Roy, Robin, Lucina and the upcoming Corrin amiibo. All other currently available amiibo are also compatible, and will summon an additional monster to the battleground to assist players in battle, providing some much-needed help in case of a strategic emergency.
Are any of you in North America planning to hunt down the limited edition of this release?

Where's our Corrin amiibo?!?!?!?
Hope this comes to the UK and we don't get screwed on the included goodies like we did for BotW's Ltd Edition
Looks lovely, and needs to come to Europe.
Hunting down limited editions of everything in Nintendo's history, but not got any of the Fire Emblem ones...
3ds ain't going anywhere with out a fight and rightly so. Bring on the pikmin
Please come to the UK...I need it!
So, this game and the rest of 3DS games during this year (2017) and next year will require New 3DS to play newest 3DS games ?
Fortunately, I have owned a Pearl White New 3DS XL.
Roy compatibility! Woohoo!
Oh my, after the war to get Fates Special Edition (yeah I have one yay), I hope that this time is more simple.
@Anti-Matter where did you hear that? I didn't see that.
I'll get this if it comes to Europe
"allowing players to seek assistance from spectral visages of Marth, Ike, Roy, Robin, Lucina and the upcoming Corrin amiibo"
Fire Emblem and Limited Editions...
The Nightmare continues.
Looks like it's time to refresh Amazon every 10 minutes to be able to get one before it sells out!
can has pre order?
@NIN10DOXD
I heard from the first announcement of this Fire Emblem that requires New 3DS to play. Well... I hope it just a rumour.
I'd buy that in a heartbeat. But 10 to 1 says I'll only have about 6 minutes to preorder it before its goine.
@Anti-Matter In all official images it has a standard white box. It might run better on New 3DS but "NEW 3DS ONLY" games have black boxes and specifically say it on the front of the box. Woulda made sense Nintendo woulda said that originally when announcing it too. "Coming to 3DS" "coming to new 3ds only"
Going to try if it's also released in UK but man getting FE Fates limited edition was a test in patience.
Corrin confirmed.
If this doesn't sell out then maybe I can get it. But while the extras are nice I'm not sure if it's worth an extra $20.
After the Fates SE I said I didn't want a Special Edition for Echoes but after this... Please bring this to the UK. PLEASE.
It's nice and I'll probably nab it, but what are with these stupid "sound selection CDs" they're so fond of. Is it not feasible to get the full soundtrack for Pete's sake?
@naut um no because it would require multiple CDs?
@Nagi_Nagisa that's like a double whammy. Limited edition + fire emblem (niche) = sold out in seconds. I feel I spent enough already getting the standard game and amiibo. Im glad i at least got the three ganes on one cart for the last game
@Anti-Matter i think you're confusing this with FE Warriors...
Looking nice hope we get a similar one here in the UK.
@manu0 Lol I think you're vastly overestimating how much music is in the game, and underestimating how much can fit on a single disk.
If I can ill try to get this, but thes don't seem all that great for a collectors edition. The soundtrack to Ganges should be a given to all standard editions now. Many games are giving it away these days, and locking them behind a special edition is shady to me now. I've gotten sound tracks for Witcher 3, bit.trip, and radiant historia for free, and these are just ones at the top of my head
@naut um no? FE Fates had a 7 disc soundtrack if I remember correctly. 70 minutes fit on one CD.
@naut I completely agree. I love the CD that came with BOTW, but it would be great if it was the entire soundtrack! It's not like it's going to eat into sales of the soundtrack or anything since they don't actually sell it! They only times I can recall them actually giving full soundtracks were the Club Nintendo specials for OOT 3D and MM 3D.
If it came with the amiibos, I would have gotten it. But as is, no. I will just stick with my regular version
@ThomasBW84 Any word on when and where we'll be able to purchase this special edition? Or is Nintendo just getting the word out right now?
@FiveDigitLP another reason they don't include the full soundtrack with games is spoilers. If you look you'll notice that none of the tracks on the BotW CD spoil anything. Or do you want the game spoiled for you by knowing story related track names?
But btw they had a lot more full soundtracks on club Nintendo than those two.
@naut : You can only fit around 70-80 minutes of music on a CD at "CD quality". If the industry propelled forward, we could be listening to music on DVDs or Blu-rays (either at much higher quality, or with far, far more songs on a single disc at the same bitrate as a CD).
@manu0 : I have the soundtrack and blast it in the car all the time. It actually has 7 CDs and 1 DVD-ROM. The DVD-ROM includes the cutscenes rendered at 1080p, and dozens of additional songs in MP3 format (including music from the DLC packs, such as the Shigure version of Hitori Omou, instrumental versions of the songs with vocals, and what I assume are "Fates" or otherwise remastered versions of classic Fire Emblem songs (it's all in Japanese, so I'm not completely certain). Totally worth it IMO.
And I'm going to be so angry if the limited edition isn't released in Australia. I want that CD!!!
@sillygostly i know. I have it too lol
Well 10 years ago I was already listening to music in much better quality than CD: on SACD. If you're a classical or jazz fan you can still find a lot of new releases on SACD. As a rock/pop fan not so much :/
@manu0 : Unfortunately that format never took off in Australia (are they common in Germany?). It's just ordinary CDs for us. I remember seeing a few DVD-Audio discs in the early 00s, but only a few albums were ever available, and the format failed as soon as it started.
I'm gonna try to grab one for sure
The European collection is even better!!!! (which will probably be AU$130 like the Fates limited edition was last year)
@sillygostly not common at all. But at least they're still making Bluray-players that can play SACDs and I have like 20 SACDs (which I actually all bought 10 years ago when I didn't even have an SACD player lol because I knew they would be hard to find later)
Echoes doesn't have any of the three versions in one cartridge nonsense, so I'll stick with the normal edition. Getting the Fates SE was a pain, and the game wasn't even worth it!
I really hope Canadian retailers will put up pre-orders for this!
I wonder why they're not releasing that Blu-Ray that Japan is getting
@manu0
Not in North America, they didn't. The Club Nintendo over here never had any soundtracks and it always frustrated me. The two I mentioned were just special promotions when you registered the games.
And I will disagree a bit that the sound selection didn't have any spoilers. It's not a big deal, but when I heard the Rito Village track I was kind of disappointed that I didn't get to hear it first in the game.
The attractive part of Fates' LE was getting all three routes at once with extra stuff for the same price. So no, I'm sticking with the basic version this time.
Unless I walk into a store and buy it on impulse, I'll pass on the LE and download the game. These days I find collector's editions are only worth it if it have something I'll use more than once, like a carrying case.
"allowing players to seek assistance from spectral visages of Marth, Ike, Roy, Robin, Lucina and the upcoming Corrin amiibo."
Happy to hear that Corrin haven't been forgotten.
@FiveDigitLP eh? Didn't you just ask for the full soundtrack to be included and now you say you were disappointed by the rito track which isn't even a story spoiler? LOL
Nice just hope it comes to Europa
Preorder is live on gamestop online
Glad to see it's coming to Europe too though I like the NA version more. I'm sure the amiibos will make the EU version a bit more expensive and the box is bulkier thanks to them. I really like the design of the NA special edition box. I'll wait to see the price for EU before deciding but as of now I think I'll pass.
@Anti-Matter This game is compatible with all 3DS models. You're probably getting it mixed up with Fire Emblem Warriors, which will be on Switch and New 3DS only.
@manu0 You seemed to be arguing for the sound selection CDs saying that they won't have any spoilers, but my point is that the BOTW did have a small spoiler in my eyes.
At any rate, it would be an obvious thing that a full soundtrack would have spoilers, so I don't see how that's a reason for Nintendo not to include them.
Regardless, you certainly seem to agree that soundtracks are lovely things to have, so at least we can agree on that.
It's so tempting...and yet, do I need to add to my 3DS backlog while Switch is dominating my gameplay...such a hard call!
Nice.
@manu0 I think CD holds around 70minutes, I seem to remember Michael Jackson attempted to use every second available for his Dangerous album!
@Dangerous25 why are you telling ME that? lol
If it would have come with the amiibos instead I might have tried to get a pre-order (even if it had made it a little bit more pricey). I'll be satisfied with just the standard edition though. I still need to finish Revelations!
@manu0 I'm late to the conversation but when you said previously about a CD holding around 70minutes it just reminded of a useless bit of Michael Jackson information I knew lol
@Late while I agree that the US often gets the better box designs you have to remember that the actual boxes in the US are made of cheap, almost paper-like cardboard. the EU boxes are always made from thick cardboard which is much better.
Have to be on the ball, I was lucky to get the EU Fates one but this one will be sought after. Especially with the amiibo included.
Even though it shows available on GS and allows you to out in your cart it isn't working and says it's already sold out.
Any idea where this on sale in the UK?
@Menchi187 Xenoblade for New 3ds didn't come in a black box. Ay least not for us.
@Lord Safe bet to look at Game and Nintendo UK store. If you really want it (Like me) book mark those pages. This website is also good. https://www.nowinstock.net/uk/ Funnily enough the actual tracking isn't the best. It's actually the discord comments which got me my fire emblem fates limited edition. There isn't a current listing for the limited edition, I'm sure the website will be updated soon enough. I'll link it here when it does.
@Coolaid_Mix it does here in europe, weird. Never saw the US ones.
It was hard enough getting the Fates special edition. I think I'll stick with the regular edition and the amiibo this time around.
Hoping this shows up on Best Buy or Amazon at some point soon. I missed out on the SE for the last game(s). I'm sure I'll miss this one too, even if I keep refreshing pages.
Just a fyi, gamestop allows preoders in store.
Did this really sold out in Amazon already?
I'm all over LE's that catch my interest, but after losing out on the Fates special edition - which mattered more than most, with the split-game system - Fire Emblem LE's just aren't getting my blood pumping anymore.
Pass.
I wouldn't mind getting it if I could. I don't have the money or system to spare for it.
Well that's get. Fire Emblem, special edition cardboard box and badges! All my main requirements for instant get.
I'll just stick with getting the game itself. I got burned with the Fates SE, and this bundle isn't quite as attractive to me anyway.
Already sold out online... I wonder if I can do a walk-in pre-order at GameStop like I did for Fates' special edition...
Odd that NoE are advertising US only edition?
Will get this! Loving FE thanks to Fates, Awakening and Blazing Blade.
This is a must buy!
@BinaryFragger i might try if its not gamestop exclusive for limited in usa
Yo! just got back from Gamestop after preordering my LE, and they said that they are ding a Timed release with this game! Meaning if you order within a certain time period, you get it. Period.
Finally, someone is doing preorders the right way!
also, please tell me the USA version also has a nice box for the pins?? It would match perfectly with my Majoras Mask pin box.
@J-Manix98 You have no idea how happy that makes me. I was about to rant about how I tried to order online a mere 2 hours after it got posted and it was all sold out. I'll be heading to my nearest gamestop asap
Would be interesting if they released a 3ds to go with it like fates LE.
This will be sold out so fast and relisted in ebay by all the scalpers.
I bet the European price will be something crazy like 100€ since it includes the two amiibos.
So dope. But I always seem to miss out on every fire emblem special edition that releases I was lucky to get the Zelda: Botw special edition at least.
The Fire Emblem Shadows of Valencia special edition is available for preorder on gamestop.com as of a minute ago.
Went up on Amazon Canada earlier this morning. Luckily I snagged a pre-order up there before it sold out under 5min later. Got a nice Prime discount with it too! Here's hoping more retailers in the country put it up as well since I have many friends who weren't as lucky as I was.
@Oat
Yep! Been trying to spread the word so people don't get stuck F5'ing order pages for months, lol.
