The 'Year of Legendary Pokémon' celebrations are still well underway, and details have emerged surrounding next month's offerings. This time around, players will be able to get their hands on either Thundurus or Tornadus - or both if you have multiple copies of the games.
The legendary beasts will be available for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, as well as Pokémon Sun and Moon, and their stats will differ depending on which game you plan to send them to.
Thunderus is exclusive to the Sun versions of the games, and will be distributed as follows:
Pokémon Ultra Sun
Level: 100
Ability: Prankster
Held Item: Gold Bottle Cap
Moves: Thunderbolt, Focus Blast, Grass Knot, Nasty Plot
Pokémon Sun
Level: 60
Ability: Prankster
Moves: Discharge, Crunch, Charge, Nasty Plot
Tornadus, on the other hand, is exclusive to the Moon versions:
Pokémon Ultra Moon
Level: 100
Ability: Prankster
Held Item: Gold Bottle Cap
Moves: Hurricane, Heat Wave, Grass Knot, Tailwind
Pokémon Moon
Level: 60
Ability: Prankster
Moves: Air Slash, Crunch, Tailwind, Rain Dance
As seen in the video above, the UK distribution will take place over the Mystery Gift functionality within the games from 6th July to 22nd July, accessed by choosing that option from your game's main menu. The North American distribution will come slightly later on July 13th, with codes being available to collect at Target until the 28th July.

So, no USA version distribution ?
That's why i found Nothing from Mystery Gift when i tried to connect Online.
Literally putting Raijin and Fujin in Pokémon.
And favoring people who bought the update.
Had I been a player this would probably upset me.
Awesome, more Pokémon I won't get because they are just distributing the codes on Target for the U.S. versions. I didn't know Europe got these through Nintendo Network.
It makes no sense why the US can’t get these distributions through Nintendo Network like the rest of the world...
@LegendOfPokemon
Not to the consumer, no, but Nintendo wants to remain friends with physical outlets, so Target is likely paying Nintendo in some fashion to have this luxury attention. Whether its actual money or just some more prominent in-store display of their products, or some completely different arrangement.
Excellent the more the merrier. Glad can get online without going to GAME.
I'm just happy I can still get these legendaries even if I don't have the Ultra version of the two. It's kind of funny that this would be one of three reasons I would step inside a store like Target or Gamestop due to online convenience. Feel a bit guilty.
Interesting that Canada will get them through the Trainer Club Newsletter.
I'm sad there's no way to get these from where I'm from.
Also, I only got Moon. Didn't bother to get the upgraded one.
(Oh well, I already do have these 'mon stored in my Pokebank anyway.)
I hope they don’t just “give” you legendaries this way in Pokémon 2019.
@Pod They've been present in Pokémon games since 2010.
Waste opportunity not releasing the shiny legendary and I rarely go to Target I missed out on entei and raikou for the same reason
I very likely won't get July's distribution; I find it very hard to justify driving over an hour to the nearest Target just for a free code.
Would it kill them to have at least SOME of these distributions over the Nintendo Network like everywhere else?
@ultraraichu Since, American and Canadian games are the same, I wonder if one who lives in the US can sign up for a Canadian account and use the code in their US game!
@LtAldoRaine
Not all of them. Xerneas/Yveltal and Palkia/Dialga were code based.
@ultraraichu Well we don't have Target in Canada anymore. haha. They tried to open stores up here, and they failed miserably.
Hey, Fujinmon and Raijinmon!
@JoltingGamingGuy I wonder too, never thought of an Canadian PTC account till now. I know the code would work since I did the opposite (US to Canada) with my cousin's game.
@itslukec yeah that was a funny/weird one since Target was the one that acquired Zellers and they were one of the top chains in Canada that I remembered as a kid.
It’s a sigh if relief when these are digital distribution. No need to go to EBGames.
Right, I’m off to EBGames to get my NES Mini 🏃🏻♂️
@LtAldoRaine @Tyranexx
Might be worth checking out eBay for codes? It should be less than the price of petrol getting to the shop.
Also, ask around on Pokemon forums like PUCL, someone might be able to post it to you for free.
Good luck ✊🏻
I love Pokemon, I really do. But I haven't touched USUM in months. The only Pokemon I am missing from the National Dex are Marshadow and that other event, the yellow one.
@Fandabidozi: Perhaps. I also recalled after posting that that I'll be on vacation during that time a couple of states away. The trick is to get whoever will be driving to actually pull into one....
@ultraraichu There is still a Zellers in Etobicoke/Mississauga. It is basically just an outlet/junk store. But it is a Zellers. haha
@ultraraichu I can confirm it works, just got it today! Keep in mind, my 3DS was originally from Canada (but my game isn't and the consoles are the same in Canada and US)
