As with every Nintendo Direct, our minds have been buzzing with possibilities of what games might, may, or must be announced and/or featured. Thanks to some unusually sudden third party gubbins we can be fairly certain of a few things that were planned to be included, and may yet remain in the rescheduled Direct whenever it happens.
So have a nosey at the video above, and let us know what your predictions are in the comments below.

Nothing we already don't know, as everything has more or less been revealed, I think
The thumbnail to this video screams fiddy kiddler, no?
I don't think it'll have any real impact at this point unless there are some big surprises we aren't aware of. I suppose I still enjoy watching their sizzle reels and listening to them talk though, lol
More disappointment.
I’m ready
It has to be before Thursday as the next issue of Famitsu will be out by then and it's supposed to have new info on Smash Ultimate. The race is on for Nintendo.
So from the looks of it, most of these leaks are from 3rd parties (besides the yoshi name leak which really isn’t much). This means we will have a plenty of 1st party announcements that will really blow our socks off.
@1UP_MARIO
I look forward to, yet again see nothing of either Bayonetta 3 or Metroid Prime 4.
Then I can find comfort in the fact that I have no interest what so ever, in Pokemon and Smash
Something that I think will happen is 2 of the SEGA Ages titles will be available after the Direct, that'll make me happy. Something I would really like to happen though is one or both of these will be a surprise rather than one of the already announced games, Outrun perhaps? That would make me very happy!
Cleaning is important.
After the tremendous disappointment I had at Big N E3 I really don’t expect anything even slightly exciting in this one
I dont think theres anything else we can expect from the direct; we now got news that civilization 6, final fantasy xv pocket and even crystal chronicles remastered is coming to switch. Its extremely possible that these were supposed to be revealed in the direct.
Guess we'll get more news on ssbu and pokemon and even something on metroid prime 4
From what I gather, a great number of announcements have already been made "outside" the direct and those were clearly part of it so from a 35min presentation I'd say that at least 10min of it have been cut or are not as relevant anymore.
Another 3min of Mario Party, 2min of other games that we know but they will show to recap, 5min of Smash and 5min of Pokemon you have already 25min of presentation.
Then add 5min for 3DS and 5min of online service.
That is the presentation.
Which means, nothing exciting really. What a let down of a year from Nintendo.
Interesting fact. People in Japan are apperantly mad at Nintendo for the delay: https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/9eumj9/_/e5rrks9/?context=1
"another crap final fantasy, for one thing." was what you meant to say in the sub title
@BrettAwesome agreed. not buying either of those over-covered titles
I'm with most of the others here, I think it has all been announced. Might be one or two suprises in there but I doubt it. I think it will show more of the let's go Pokémon games though.
Well....
According to Chinese zodiac, Nintendo (1889, Ox sign) will have some struggles during this year (Dog year, Earth elemental).
Nintendo just need some Fire from their games that targeted to Female gamers / games with Fashion genre.
@tourjeff i agree, 9 months of 2018 have passed and except Octopath Traveler there wasnt a single big Nintendo exclusive released on Switch ....
It would certainly be unfortunate if everything strictly new was more or less revealed already. But I think that's not likely with the planned 35 minutes runtime.
I guess everyone's hoping for at least one big new First Party title to be shown (That excludes Yoshi) and/or a big-like Third Party game for the Switch. I'm still banking on either Pikmin 4 or Animal Crossing. But I really wanna see that Star Fox Grand Prix if it was real to begin with, and I hope it'll be good. It might be one of the games they use to sell/show the online service.
Yoshi will surely get details and new gameplay footage. Maybe they'll even show a snippet of Bayonetta 3. Then of course details on upcoming games for this year that we already know about.
I suspect 3DS will get some kind of a remake or some new low budget titles.
The Direct is going to be 35 minutes of Reggie cooking potatoes before realizing he is being filmed and then 2 minutes of him firing the cameraman.
Then the rest of the Direct. Trust me, my uncle works for Nintendo. He's the one who filmed it.
@Heavyarms55 Correction: ''my uncle used to work for Nintendo.''
Meh...
Would be a lot better if they cancelled this direct and got some other things ready.
I see Nintendo just doubling down on all the news we already have.
Honestly? I think the only thing left is either Nintendo games (Yoshi's Crafted World for one) and/or the Smash announcement. If so, I think they'll merely be incorporated in the next Nintendo Direct.
Or they'll just go ahead and announce the next Smash newcomer in a standalone reveal. Works for me.
@Bunkerneath That's not true. Famitsu and Corocoro has not leaked anything about Direct yet and there certainly won't be. We are still going to see the clean direct.
Sorry but where can you find that Pikachu poster hanging in the background? It’s adorable. Any help is appreciated thank you!
This direct is toast, not much left to 'reveal' and what has been leaked is of little interest to my gaming tastes.
Turn my frown upsides down Ready, for I am totally Reggie for it...
What I’m hoping for:
Smash is present with at least one new character and one new echo, but takes the backseat to other titles
Mario Maker Switch
More Online Service details
Yoshi Switch details
Nindies
What will probably happen:
Online Service details
Whatever was “leaked”/announced by 3rd parties
Last-minute plugs for Yo-Kai Watch, Dragalia Lost, and other September games
Nindies section
Something Smash-related
3DS ports/remakes of older games from GameCube/Wii era
Btw what I am kinda expecting is Arena of Valor release date as it should release this September, but we don't really know when. Maybe also update on Diablo, giving us a date which is rumored to be the Beginning of Blizzcon which if I am not mistaken is 12 of November
So much negativity here... I for one have more games than I can play (I downloaded but still haven't even started Hollow Knight, Golf Story, Count of Lucanor, Mario and Rabbids) even though I spend between 30 and 40 hours / week gaming and there are so many BRILLIANT titles on the horizon. I couldn't be happier with the Switch.
Concerning the Direct, we'll probably see Pkmn Let's Go!, some Smash (go Dr. Wily, Octopath Travelers and Rex!) and I think it's very likely that we get a few more glimpses of Fire Emblem (since that releases in early 2019). Also I have the vague feeling we might be positively surprised to get a Metroid Prime collection in HD.
@Octane @Heavyarms55 Y’all are fantastic
@Vepra True. Probably gonna see some D3 & AoV footage.
Announce a monster hunter stories for switch and I'll be happy
@Anti-Matter Is that real advice or is this another way to ask for cute games?
At this point I'm actually more into thinking that they'll play this one down and just... Not air the direct.
It's not gonna happen, they'll air it of course, but... It would be intriguing if they completely ignored it as if it was never planned and let things play out. Would be some juicy backlash.
Then again at this point I don't really care what's in it. When they delayed it I just thought "welp, respectful and sound decision, but it's going to be a disaster because of it."
Put a ten-second clip of Prime 4 and Pikmin 4 (for Octane) and everything will be forgiven.
There is a chance it has been cancelled. It has been 5 days since it was cancelled and no new date has been announced, there have been multipleleaks of games that would have been announced in the Direct. Nintendo may have cancelled the Direct due to the leaks, plus they are being quiet about it, which is suspicous.
The Direct is no more. Nintendo is still busy fixing that fallen 'N'.
@Kimyonaakuma
I guess...
Because we still haven't got announcement about Animal Crossing for Switch.
Animal Crossing is about Fashion, Design, Feng Shui, Cuteness, etc.
Perhaps, Animal Crossing for Switch could help Nintendo to overcome the struggles during year 2018 & 2019.
Not expecting much.
NSMBU port for later this year
Layton wouldn’t be a big surprise, also 2018
A reveal of Fitness Boxing
Some info on Yoshi, maybe early 2019 release
Early 2019 date for Daemon X Machina
The rest of the NES games for the Online service
I think the third party stuff has been covered
Did the Direct needed to be pushed back THIS far,I mean the earthquake is sad and all,but we've got other gaming news,so why is it such a problem for this direct?
We’ll still get some new reveals I’m sure of it. We have no idea what’s coming. Who saw Labo coming? (Yes it wasn’t announced in a direct but you see my point). Some of what’s been leaked recently was probably in the original direct but even that is speculating. Plus we have first party announcements. I’m optimistic for a couple new announcements at least and hopefully one is completely left field.
@AlexOlney I played this while unloading my briefcase and doing my morning paper shuffling, it cracked me up. Thanks for the fun 15 minutes!
@Octane Shame on me for my grammar fluke! No really, I am supposed to be a teacher. lol
I'm predicting tears.
As usual I will wait and see.
@Heavyarms55 Nah before the Direct Reggie is gonna do a Elon and just some on camera smoking a phatt-one and say "Yeah we have games and you know it".
I just wonder how much from the originally intended Direct they still have left and still are going to show when this thing does finally air. It's probably not going to be 35 minutes anymore. Well, whatever the case I wanna see it already. Hopefully tomorrow.. or even later today.
I know it won't happen but damn I want Xenoblade Chronicles X. With all these remasters and releases from Wii U titles how is that not one.
I know its possible they are working on it but not saying anything until XC2 is done with DLC so they don't overshadow it, but still the owner sign is the copyright date change on the website.
Animal Crossing...I’m starting to feel like it’s never gonna happen.
I’ll take Outrun and/or Metroid Trilogy in the meantime.
Edit: It’s a me from the future 🤯🤯🤯
Well, so much for it beng a crucial year for the Switch, huh?
Ok, there's been some good games released this year, but the momentum has definitly dipped. I'm hoing that things improve over the next few months.
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/01/switchs_second_year_will_be_crucial_says_nintendo_president
All I want is Animal Crossing to be announced.
Prepares self for disappointment
From the way I see it, Nintendo has something to prove -to investors, not a fansite's comment section- so I'm optimistic here.
For 3DS I'm guessing:
1) Yo-Kai Watch
2) Either Etrian Odyssey Nexus or Persona Q2 , the 3DS's last games of note, depending on which gets localized quicker.
For Switch, I'm thinking:
1) Pokemon Let's Go character customization or w/e
2) A WiiU port (probably New Super Mario Bros U)
3) Montage of 3rd party titles with release dates: Dark Souls Remastered / Mega Man 11 / FFXVPE, the last one being available right away on the eshop
4-5) Civilization VI and Diablo III get a slightly bigger segment
6) Mario Party gets some mode revealed
7) Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC gets one last push
8) Starlink Battle For Atlas gets some promo
9) Daemon X Machina gets a release month
10) Yoshi 2019 gets a proper introduction/release date
11) Dragon Quest XI gets a release window (that will get pushed back when the time comes but I digress)
12) SSBU Character Reveal: Animal Crossing character + someone else
"And one more thing"
13) Animal Crossing teaser for Summer 2019
I'd also want to see Xenoblade X and Tokyo Mirage Sessions ports but they wouldn't want the first one to overshadow Torna (it WILL happen though) and the latter is a long shot in general, Atlus is a bit busy at the moment.
Out of curiosity, did anyone at all find it disrespectful that these games supposedly meant for the Direct were revealed this week, in light of the earthquake?
@1UP_MARIO yah most probably ... Just want Metroid, Starfox, F-ZERO, Mario kart stuff and some new ips
@-Green- You know what you're talking about!
@MylesOfMusic I think they should tell us more about SAINTS ROW 3
@bratzdoll doubt the last one seriously Nintendo doesn't care about Animal Crossing anymore, all it is is a cheap mobile app now...
@Anti-Matter I really want an Animal Crossing too but I think the rest of 2018 will be about Pokémon and Smash Ultimate.
I'm hoping they announce it in a January Direct and then it will release Spring/Summer 2019....but if they announce it on Thursday I'll be SO HAPPYYY!
Going to try asking again, where is that background Pikachu picture from?
Thank you!
I'm hoping for a couple Smash character reveals. Other than that, I'm not expecting or demanding much. Civ6 was an unexpected surprise and I have more than enough games to play. As usual, it'll be fun seeing people get mad and expect Nintendo to show stuff they never promised.
I’m hoping to get a date for some of the games showcased in E3, like Ark for example. Also I wouldn’t mind seeing some video footage on the games that have been announced since the direct was supposed to air. I think we’ll see Animal Crossing on Switch in 2019. I think they’ll show a game that has a strong online multiplayer aspect- gonna have to showcase Nintendo Switch Online right?
I want a release date for Dragon Quest 11 especially since they had a working version for the 3DS and killed it for Switch sales.
Well Nintendo you can't sell consoles with a nonexistent game.
