Atlus has shared the first look at Etrian Odyssey Nexus on Nintendo 3DS with its first official trailer and has also revealed a launch edition with some extra little goodies included alongside the game.
Being the final instalment on 3DS, Etrian Odyssey Nexus is aiming to go all out by incorporating all of the best aspects throughout the entire series including iconic characters, 19 playable classes, and more labyrinths than any other Etrian title that has come before it. Players can swap between four distinct difficulty settings and make use of auto-mapping settings to adjust the game to their liking, and a "grand standalone story" awaits for those who give it a go.
All pre-order and first-run copies of the game will come with an exclusive art book featuring detailed character art of Yuji Himukai and monster art of Shin Nagasawa, a pin featuring Vivian (the innkeeper in Nexus), and the game itself - all in a special collector's box. You can see what this looks like below and grab a pre-order for yourself here.
The game is still scheduled to release on 5th February 2019 with a suggested retail price of $39.99.
Are you looking forward to this final Etrian Odyssey adventure?

I was just about to post this in the forums. It will be sad if this is the last we see of this franchise. Figure it out Atlus and keep it going!
This is what I'd like to play on my Switch... to have something to play... :/
Probably one of my last games on the 3DS.RIP.
I could care less about the Wii U, but I am glad that Nintendo and many other companies promised to keep making good games for the 3DS for the next several years at least, I think I will get this game for sure
@Cobalt I recommend Labyrinth Of Refrain (if you haven't tried it already). It's not quite Etrian Oddysey, but it's still a great game, made by NIS, the developers of Disgaea..
Yet another to add to the great 3DS/DS/GBA Backlog.
I don't usually buy physical games anymore, but that launch edition box is really attractive. I like how Atlus always rewards their launch day customers with stuff like this for no extra charge.
Kind of sad this'll be the last traditional Etrian game, though. End of an era. I still remember when I first discovered the original on the NDS back in 2010 or so.
WOOT!... Done!. TY, Nintendo Life for the heads up! 👍👏
Kingdom Hearts 3 at Home (Jan 29th) and Etrian Odyssey Nexus on the GO for FEB!
But now need to move The Caligula Effect: Overdose on Switch out of FEB 🤔
«First run»? I’ve never seen a second run of any Atlus game - buy within two weeks of release or you’ll never be able to.
@cyberboycoolen Thanks dude but sadly I tried it and I wasn't convinced... To make a good dungeon Crawler it's an art... Here it's not totally bad, no it isn't, but it's like they made LOR for the beginners...
@Cobalt Gotcha
@Spoony_Tech They already teased EO going to "the next stage" in July.
A series I've been interested in but the way battles are shown have always killed my interest. If they were less static, and more natural looking I'd be more interested in this series. Also I hate not being able to see my characters.
I've only ever bought one Etrian title on my 3ds and the one tile movement and self mapping couldn't get me wrapped up enough to finish it. Ya know a couple hours in i was like, let's find anything else to do.
But I can't imagine with the clout of this franchise they'll drop Etrian Odyssey. I think for Atlus this will be the last outing on the 3DS but rest assured friends, they'll make more games and they'll fit the switch, no doubt, no doubt.
@Frendo
It could be like how Etrian Odyssey V was. It looked boring in all the pictures but when it released it had the logo on the spine. Sadly no character illustration though.
@Cobalt Atlus is currently developing a new Etrian title on a new platform( not confirmed but all the fans are saying switch) They put out a teaser saying "to the next stage"
@Spoony_Tech They confirmed long ago we'll see more Etrian Odyssey, so rest easy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0T_zIR9m60 Here's a Teaser Trailer.
@Frendo I see what you mean. I would prefer better spines. As a Graphic Designer, myself, I would have used the same font on the spine. The only reason that I think this happened was because they were rushing to meet physicsl product deadline and had to quickly put that in. I have been there.
Nice day 1 for me, as expected from Atlus with their day one editions but hopefully they bring Persona Q2 as their last game to the 3DS
@Frendo Agreed. Personally I would put creative spines ahead of climate change and world peace as a priority.
So where's my European release?
@Cobalt
I saw a review that said completely the opposite, it described it as super complex but don't remember who made that review.
Edit: got it, search "tarks gauntlet labyrinth of refrain" in YouTube.
Switch release please
I was hoping they would continue the series on 3ds (where is the third game remake?). If they take the switch path as TWEwY did I am not gonna buy any other Etrian game.
Love this series. The only series I day one buy for anymore anyways. Will enjoy playing this one immensely .
@DenDen Is this a mandatory comment on every 3DS article?
Also, the bottom touch screen is a MUST for this game. It's not coming to Switch. Whatever EO game they end up making for the Switch, it's probably going to be quite different than the previous entries.
Oh mah gad, I want that Vivian pin...
@RandomLeo00
OK now I get it ! It's after 20 hours that you start to get some challenge... Thanx for the video RandomLeo, it makes everything clearer now because I couldn't understand how this game could has been difficult, so easy it was when I tried it...
Hmm. I can't see why they would remain on 3DS for this series.
From the graphic quality of the intro some real popping Switch scenery looked to be on the way. Just can't see myself remaining glued to that tiny screen when there's so much potential to be had by upgrading.
Ugh take my money, Atlus. Take it all.
Next up is the jump to the Switch. As much as I love mapping, I usually only map each game once and then keep my charts alive via NG+. Mapping an area once can be rewarding and fun, but mapping it once you know what's coming is just a chore.
That article subtitle sounds like this is the last Etrian Odyssey forever, while the trailer goes on to mention it is the last "on the 3DS"
Really looking foward to be able to play with Dark Hunter once more. Got to love a good status effects dealer.
