Super Mario Bros. 35 is available right now on Nintendo Switch, free for anyone with a subscription to Nintendo's online service. It's great fun, especially if you're keen on trying out a fresh take on Mario's iconic platforming, but it can get a little repetitive after a while.
It's only a minor complaint, but with the game only supporting levels originally found in the very first Super Mario Bros. for NES, the overall selection of enemies and items aren't quite as impressive as they could be. Interestingly, though, data mining suggests that Nintendo could be planning on adding more levels from other titles in the future.
Data miner @OatmealDome has found that all stage file names are prefixed with the phrase 'smb1', referring, of course, to the first Super Mario Bros. game. OatmealDome says, "This organization could perhaps suggest that support could be added for additional Mario games later, but this is the only evidence I have (and it's very circumstantial)."
That's an important note to make – seeing that phrase alone doesn't prove that other games will or won't make an appearance in the future – but if these 32 levels are the only ones planned to be included, why would they need a prefix indicating which game they're originally from? Surely, this would only be needed if, say, Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3 were also included?
Jump Rope Challenge, another free Nintendo title that was originally intended to only be available for a limited time, did receive additional content after launch. The addition of future levels in Super Mario Bros. 35 is certainly possible, then, but only time will tell if Nintendo really does have something in the works.
Would you like more levels from different Mario games to be added to Super Mario Bros. 35? Are you happy with it how it is? Let us know in the comments.
Thanks to CM30 for the tip!

That's a reach.
And this, this is how we will get Mario Galaxy 2.
It is a really fun game, being amazing at Mario games is finally paying off haha!
Surely that's just good coding practice. A tiny thing like that future proofs just in case. Doesn't mean they've given it any more thought than "let's do this just in case we get told to ecoand it in future." After the whole Y2K thing its a pretty standard approach to this sort of thing.

That muppet never stops complaining.
Super Mario World would be so fun! Imagine the hilarity of launching giant Monty Moles and Bullet Bills at your opponents. Or seeing dozens of American footballers coming at you somewhere they shouldn't be.
My running theory is that Lost Levels (SMB2 Japan) stages would eventually be added or purchase-able. It seems like the simplest way to do things since both games share an engine and most visual assets are identical.
since this game is very popular it stands for reason that nintendo might get rid of the limited time and just let it keep on going by adding new worlds like:super mario bros 2,lost levels, super mario 3 and even super mario world but one thing nintendo to keep this game fair is removing/banning anyone cheating especially on the ranks.
I can't even unlock levels past 4-2. Is there a method to unlock them quicker? I've placed 1st around 5 times by now and am Lv.52
@RiasGremory Who knows, maybe the time limit is actually 6 months for SMB then after that they replace it with SMB2 for 6 months, etc.
@TriforceBun there’s no way they would make something purchasable since they already plan on shutting down the servers
@KayFiOS
Just play more, and use warp pipes
best tip is not to rush through, take your time and kill monsters whilst collecting coins.
I would love for them to add more games to the battle royale!
I will happily pay for the privilege of playing them too, Tetris 99 and Super Mario Bros 35 are already classics in my book!
I just enjoy it for what it is. Sure it'd be cool if more levels came, but let's not hold our breath.
I doubt levels would be mixed, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if at some point the game completely switched to SMB3 or SMW levels. That would be amazing. Playing SMB levels with huge Bonzai Bills would be a little rough, though.
I’m playing it everyday. Being first is a addiction.
Winning strategy.

? The game is out?
I have been calling it M35 for shorthand. Maybe I need to change that to SMB1-35???
@TriforceBun SMB2 Japan makes sense. It would be nice to have more levels that most of us are less familiar with.
This would be more difficult with SMB2 USA. If someone sent Wart to your level, would they give you a self-generating vegetable patch to defeat him???
I'm sure NintendoLife will let us know if any changes in SMB35 turnip.
@Tandy255 🤣 very good 👏
@KayFiOS When you have beaten all of the levels you currently have unlocked then the next level will be unlocked. At the course selection, select any course that does not have the flag indicating that you have beaten it. That level will be added to the pool of levels. If you use any warp pipes, select the left most pipe to skip two levels (unless one of the other two pipes is for the level you selected). Good luck
Lost Levels would really up the challenge of this game, I'd love to see it.
Other Mario games aren't as interchangeable with their content for this type of game, though. Mario 2 USA, for example has very different mechanics. Sending those enemies to someone in a Mario Bros level wouldn't work. Even Mario 3 is different enough (though would work well as it's own Mario 35)
I just don't see this game disappearing forever after such a short time span though. They said this was in development before even Tetris99, so being in development for years only to trash it after a 6 month run? Makes little to no sense.
I could see them adding the "Lost Levels"-Mode for anyone who got first at least once.
@Tandy255 I lol'd at your comment, so true! 😂
Certainly with Mario Bros. 3 you'd get a greater variety of enemies.
There could be a lot of strategy involved in choosing your route for Mario Bros. 2 levels.
@Averagewriter
Haven't seen much Complain, most People seem to enjoy it and have fun.
Who is Arlo btw. :>?
Some Streamer?
@TriforceBun I really hope you're kidding. Lost levels wasn;t released for 30 years in america because it's so hard. Making it harder with more enemies? No thanks.
