Mario Kart Tour is currently celebrating its 1.5 year anniversary - sure, why not - and has unveiled its next event; it looks rather cool.
The Ninja Tour has kicked off and will run for the next two weeks; it has various new goodies for you to obtain. A good placement in part 1 of the tour could net you a Green Shy Guy, and there'll be some other unlocks to get after.
The headline addition is the new Ninja Hideaway course, which you can get a good look at in the trailer below.
Finally, there's another round of the snap a photo challenge, details below.
Let us know in the comments if you're planning to jump into this tour.

Aahhh that's not a MK8 event tho 😢
Ahh, peach + daisy look so cute^^
Where’s Ninja from Mario Hoops 3-on-3?
Something something Mario Kart 9 something something.
@nessisonett As good as some of the cosmetics in this game are and as great as your idea is, I doubt the Mario Kart Tour developers would take such a deep cut from Mario's history (and they sure love selling slight Shy Guy variations as new characters).
@NintendoWiiDS They’ve already hit the bottom of the barrel. I genuinely doubt they could stoop any lower.
Missed opportunity to put in ninji.
I'm ready for MK9 Nintendo. I promise I've been practicing 8 really good...oh, no not the Tour again anything but that, anything but that!
@darkswabber totally :/
Always the same comments...
MK Tour is great. I even prefer it to mk8.
The Song Slaps!
That new track is awesome. Love it.
While I think this game is a slimy pile of gacha trash, given that it's not even on the switch means that it isn't the reason why we don't have MK9 yet. The consistently high sales of MK8 is likely the reason, and if that's the case then we likely won't see a new mario kart until next generation
It's insane how elaborate Ninja Hideaway is, it's a track that would've blown me away in Mario Kart 8 and yet here it is on mobile. Absolutely a must-have for Mario Kart 9 now, if you ask me
Wait... but... Ninji? Come on, this is the game that would make Ninji a character (it’s just also the game that would make Shyguy in a ninja outfit a character.)
They could have put all of this into MK8 as paid dlc... But nay. Nintendo decides to put it in their scummy mobile game instead, as always.
RIP console Mario Kart
Why NIntendo? ...why? -sniffle- -sob-
Nintendo needs an intervention.
Forget two Mario karts every generation...ONE Mario kart every two generations!
I really wish this stuff would have also come to a real Mario Kart instead.
People still play this game? The controls are terrible, and so is the game’s monetization model.
I get there are challenges when a 3D racing game has to receive new content practically every two weeks, but I'm pretty disappointed with the 1.5 year anniversary racer additions. Ninja Shy Guy doesn't look all that different from regular Shy Guys and the other big additions this tour are more palette swaps.
The Ninja Tour would've been a great time to add Pom Pom and/or a Ninji to the roster. Or heck, show Wario Ware some love and get Kat & Ana in there; stage is already practically Wario's in all but name even though he doesn't have a new skin this tour.
Ninja Hideaway's a pretty cool course though, even if it is hard to drive around with a touch UI. I really like that this new course has layers; really hope it'll return in Mario Kart 9 whenever that happens.
@Deepdoop there’s a big drop off from the top selling games to MK8D. I get that u don’t want to kill ur golden goose, but a new MK would probably sell 20 million or more pretty easily in a year with this install base.
That's not my point, my point is why would nintendo make a new MK if 8 is still selling incredibly well. Yeah, MK9 would sell millions, duh. But nintendo could save 9 for the next system and it would do even better than on the switch, because it would not only be a new MK but the only one next gen, instead of having to compete with 8 and convincing people with 8 to buy 9. Believe me, I want MK 9, but from a business standpoint why release it on the switch when 8 is still doing as well as it is?
@VoidofLight The default controls are miserable. Turning on manual drift makes them so much better, though they're still not amazing since sometimes it feels like you can't steer away from a wall. But I feel like most of the people who say Tour's controls are terrible never turned on manual drift
I am a big fan of Mario Kart Tour. I pay the $5 a month for the gold pass, and I get more than $5 worth of fun out of it.
Your mileage may vary.
This new course is SO GOOD!
Really hope this'll reach MK9! 😁
And I think MK tour is pretty fair, I don't pay a cent and I've had a lot of fun with it these last 1,5 years. (They keep giving enough stuff and coins to keep up! )
Is that a carpet?
I really wish they'd have patched MK8 to have these sorts of events.
My blood runs cold every time I see updates for this... this... game.
@Grandiajet Nope this generation, and not exclusively a Switch thing, is all about regurgitating old games.
Just here for the crying masses, every time this gets an update they're on here sobbing I love it 🤣🤣🤣
Another Mario Kart Tour post, another wave of spoiled whiny brats. This is for you sweeties:
@nessisonett it's from Square Enix
@Marioman2020 a scroll
@KartLover_BadPC
And... It's a Racer?
@Marioman2020 A reskin of a pre existing racer
But yeah
@KartLover_BadPC
What pre-existing racer WAS A PIECE OF PAPER?
@Marioman2020 I think we are misunderstanding ourselves
@KartLover_BadPC
I'm confused
