You know how the bee-bee-bee-bee-beep of a laser-targeting Guardian in Breath of the Wild can completely ruin your day? It doesn't have to be this way. Reddit user RinHara5aki has discovered yet another weird trick within the game that can save Link's bum from getting exploded, and all it takes is a little bit of Magnesis.
We've already painstakingly covered the myriad ways in which you can slay a Guardian — one of the most fearsome enemies in Breath of the Wild — and even the fact that you can ride them. But it turns out that the big metal chaps are easy to defang, too.
All you have to do is activate the Magnesis rune, and drop an item. Any item. This will generate, as RinHara5aki says, "an invisible hitbox with weird properties" which blocks the Guardians' line of sight. You can use this to your advantage, taking them out with a quick Ancient Arrow sniper shot — just be sure not to move, because you'll become visible again, and note that any Guardians behind you will still be able to see (and shoot) you.
If you're hungry for more weird and wonderful Breath of the Wild tricks and tales, may we suggest Riding on Giant Barrels, Speedrunning Bread, and Spicy Updrafts? You know we'll keep on discovering more tricks, so make sure to check back in a week or so when someone's found out that Link's big toe is capable of one-shot killing a Lynel.

I wonder if that's limited to just Guardians, if all it takes is to activate Magnesis, then hold and drop an item?
Can it trick your common Bokoblin, or avoid attention of any Yiga blademasters?
I thought this story was already covered on NintendoLife?
@noobish_hat Well, I haven't experienced a single game breaking glitch or bug in any of those two games.
If you're not actively looking for bugs and glitches, both games are not broken 99,9% of the playthroughs. Which is very remarkable for a game with such a scope I'd say.
The game is almost 5 years old and I'm still learning new things
They should have included the option to have the guardians fire without warning, that’d have been interesting and startling
@NinChocolate While it sounds fun at first glance, this could get annoying quickly and lead to a lot of frustrating deaths
I usually just stocked up on ancient arrows to deal with these guys. That is until I realized you could actually parry their laser beam back at them. Once you get the timing down, they're cake.
As I have said a thousand times before. 100 years from now, people are still going to find all these crazy moves and things that are just so wild. I really love this one of a kind game.
Maybe one day I'll feel like playing this past the first divine beast...probably not..it's just not enjoyable for me.
Great find, I'll try it out over Christmas break!
This truly is 1 of the best games ever made!!
It's out of this and SMB3 to me, I just knew after playing this for the 1st time, that people would be discovering bits & tips like this for years!!!
That’s a useful little exploit! Nothing like bamboozling guardians 👍🏼
@RupeeClock It's an interesting mechanic, but Probably only limited to stationary guardians. Even when enemies/ bokoblins lose line of sight, they still know where you are and try throwing rocks unsuccessfully at you though walls.
And when moving guardians lose sight of you, they still investigate where they think you might be.
@noobish_hat Any game is "busted" when you spend hundreds of hours toiling away at mechanics and systems looking for bugs that have otherwise gone unnoticed by the dev team.
No one playing Breath of the Wild normally would ever find/discover tricks like bullet-time shield bounce cancel, fly through the sky at a million miles an hour
@NinChocolate they absolutely can shoot without doing the laser thing first. I’ve had it happen:

@Eel you’re right, that one fired without any alarm
@noobish_hat neither of those games are broken. There are always some glitches in all games. It’s impossible to make a game completely perfect.
