It's not the first time that Zelda's Hyrule Castle has made it to the final stage of LEGO's fan-created and crowdsourced IDEAS platform, and it certainly won't be the last — anything to do with Nintendo usually gets summarily dismissed, after all.
But this latest Hyrule Castle design, based on Breath of the Wild, includes Calamity Ganon, Koroks, Bokoblins, Guardians, the Hylian Shield and Link's sailcloth glider, so surely all those details will convince LEGO and/or Nintendo to put it into production this time?
BrickGallery, the designer, is also responsible for one of the previous successful (but rejected) Hyrule Castle sets, and quite a few popular Tom and Jerry sets.
As for what the "final stage" means for this LEGO set, here's what LEGO IDEAS says:
"A "LEGO Review Board" composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We'll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product. This includes factors such as playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand. Every potential LEGO product goes through a process like this and must meet the same standards."
This process can take several months, and at the end of it, it'll either get green-lit and go into the next stage (design and development) or it will get rejected.
Fingers crossed!

I hope this gets a Lego Ideas release! It looks awesome!
@Zuljaras I hope it does too but you know nintendo
This is beautiful.
I would buy it
Looks official from the quality, real impressive.
Man… I wish Nintendo would make actual Lego sets more frequently and not that Nightmare-Inducing Lego Mario, lol. Well, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens I guess.
Well I'd probably enjoy this more than the empty world that is BoTW.
@PARK1755 Agreed, but that being said I think that question Block Lego Marioish sets is perhaps my favorite lego set ever. And Lego Mario actually interacts with it in really cool ways.
N&B Block revival time.
It's awesome... It's also never happening lol
I think it looks too big to actually make it but Nintendo is working with Lego now so… can we please get some form of this?
day 1 purchase if it happens. do we have a piece count
The castle looks cool, but that Calamity Ganon could be a lot better.
@UglyCasanova You can't be THAT insecure about your opinion on BOTW you need to post it on an article about a lego set...
@NotAceAttorney umm… I think they are and did just that. I say let people hate the things you like. But I browse this site a lot so I know this particular person posts their negative opinion on botw all the time. We see it, let it happen and bring grandpa back to his room. No big deal.
I just want a metroid lego set man!
@Ocaz Yeah that's fair enough, thanks for the context!
@Grahamthecracker it doesn’t look much bigger than the Disney Castle set. There are sets even bigger too, the new AT-AT is giant, there’s a Colosseum, A huge Ninjago castle, Imperial Destroyer, Death Star. Plus a bunch of Technic vehicles. The Disney Castle is about £300 but some go as high as £700 and up they’re so big. So size definitely isn’t going to be the blocker for this set. I think it will be Nintendo wanting to do something different like they did for Mario.
@NotAceAttorney 👍
"Awesome Things We Can't Have for 500, Alex."
I’d buy a Breath of the Wild set in a heartbeat! I absolutely love this game to “pieces!”
Here's hoping if they ever do get round to Lego Zelda it'll be the Spirit Train. May not be most people's favourite game but I don't think Lego have ever done a fantasy train before.
Link to be in the style of the Lego Powerpuff Girls, obviously, big oval head and tiny legs.
I'd reckon we're more likely to get Animal Crossing first though. Blind bags with different furniture in them, yeah?
Yeah, Nintendo will never approve official production of something fans came up with. If we get a LEGO set, it will only be after their R&D team spends ludicrous amounts of money to come up with a weird and expensive gimmick that's a fun novelty for all of five minutes but you get bored of pretty quickly. I respect Nintendo'a desire to always innovate in an industry that often goes through periods of iterarive stagnation, but sometimes I just wish they'd be normal.

It’s so much better than the Mario sets
And instead lego will reject it to make another sitcom set! Hip hip hooray! I've been a lego ideas user myself for a long time and recently I've just been fed up with the official sets, because as of recently its about every 4-5 sets approved, they finally do something that won't just sit around and collect dust( literally the next two sets are a GLOBE AND A PAINTING)
This is where the fun begins.
Just imagine the cost to get it... lol
That's great news. Seems natural LEGO would at least be open to another partnership with Nintendo.
Now I'm imagining a Lego Nintendo game, if nothing else, and the possibilities are relatively endless
After what they did to the Sonic set I'm not holding my breath. Good thing is on aliexpress you will probably be able to find this.
enter with low expectations ive been in the lego biz my entire life. if it happens, it wont happen by idea's hand
Technic + guardian = perfection.
Sadly this has about 0% chance of becoming an actual set. And that is a generous 0%.
@RevrsblSedgewick Lego has the Hogwarts Express train.
It won't happen. LEGO is too juvenile for Zelda. Probably better off with Mega Bloks, like HALO, or a World of Nintendo playset.
Nintendo would want to control every detail and would not let some random person online decide what goes into a set based in one of their ips. Nintendo will never change their outlook on fan support and will crush every single persons dreams of having a good displayable Lego set like the one we have here. Nintendo would be more focused on the playability aspect and we would end up with something like the overpriced Lego Mario sets.
@Slinkoy1 me too. Like queer eye Fab five loft? I haven't even heard of this show up to this point. My favorite Lego ideas setsl i have bought in the last 2 years has to be either Winnie the pooh or barracuda Bay. We still have great Lego ideas sets but now there's going to be an Office set too! I dunno I hope we have some more themed Lego sets soon like a classic space ideas set or something more creative then coasting off established ips
Its never going to happen. So many Zelda ideas have gone to review and none have passed.
@Ogbert I feel like I’ve not seen an Ideas set that large though. I could be wrong but everything that large is usually with big IPs or tried and true IPs like they keep churning out giant Star Wars sets because they sell.
@Grahamthecracker The treehouse is pretty huge and an Ideas creation. Maybe not quite as tall but it's close and a chunky beast with 3,00 odd pieces. And the Home Alone house is not tall but super wide and nearly 4,000 pieces. As far as I'm aware there are no size or piece number restrictions on the Ideas sets. It's purely if it's popular and the IP holders agree.
now this is something I would take interest in!
@OldManHermit True but this only a conceptual render. If approved I imagine an Official model would be a bit more complex. Hell, Calamity Ganon could be an entire large scale build in itself.
