We've seen what the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie will look like, but what will it sound like? If you have been wondering, it seems there's now a sample of one of the songs recorded for the movie.
As highlighted by Tails' Channel, Togolese-Israeli singer Stéphane Legar has released a remix of Rockwell's 1984 single, Somebody's Watching Me. This new version is officially titled "Speed Life".
The song is mostly in French with some English thrown in and was provided to YouTube by Parlophone France. It's not known just yet if this track will appear in the international versions of Sonic 2 or not. You can listen to the song and see the full music video below:
Speed Life is available now on multiple music platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, iTunes Store, Deezer, Soundcloud, YouTube Music and Qobuz. Availability may vary depending on your region.

So, am I the only one who started singing "I always feel like, somebody's watching me?"
It's a cool remix. I'm guessing this is for the French version of the film, or is it for the movie as a whole in general? Didn't find the song on iTunes, however, I did find it on Spotify.
No thanks, I'll stick to the Rockwell version or Beatfreakz version from 2006.
Sorta related, but I think one thing sonic has always gotten on point is the music, its always good (Opinion)
Because of course.
It's better than Gangsta's Paradise, I suppose. Those eyes.... those teeth.... THOSE HANDS.
@Snatcher I can agree with this, some of my favorite game music ever has been from the Sonic series. Actually, have the old Tokyopop Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack, and I have a small EP from iTunes of Sonic GBA music.
@Snatcher SEGA games in general are guaranteed to be full of bangers. Best music team in the industry! And best thing is it's almost all available to stream digitally (take note Nintendo)
@Sunsy Same! I do like how they put hard work into the music, because sometimes, music can make a game, and it can burn a memory of said game into are minds, sorry if i'm not making sense.
@Clyde_Radcliffe This is also true, I can't remember the name of the games, but there music is still in my mind today.
@Snatcher It makes sense, today I heard some Daytona USA music, and all I imagined was when I played the game on Dreamcast. It's something like that.
Now I think about it, the song from the first Sonic movie comes to mind and I think of the movie credits in the style of the original games.
@Royalblues Theatrical contracts most likely, if I had to take a guess. Being a fan, I remember Trolls World Tour had a home digital rental release April 10th, 2020, its theatrical release date. Theaters were mad because Universal broke contract when it happened to the point where they didn't want to show Universal movies anymore (thankfully, that changed).
Speed life
It's the only life I know
Speed life
It's the only life for me...
Well, speed is highly addictive. Wouldn't be a stretch to think that Sonic may have a drug problem.
I'll just leave this gem here:

Can't see this not just being exclusive to French speaking territories, honestly.
@Sunsy Somebody's watching me was all I could hear too!
@Snatcher
Sonic music dominates my playlist despite me not playing most of the games. There’s just so much variety, from rock to techno to orchestra, and it’s all good.
Yes, it’s sampling Rockwell, people. That’s what the article clearly states.
Geez, this remake song was a (bad) choice…
Don't worry guys. There is no way Paramount would use it for the international release right?
RIGHT?
Hmm it's alright but not great at the same time.
@sketchturner That video was uploaded the year I became active on YouTube.
Everyone here talking about the music meanwhile I am in disbelief this man actually got Sonic dreads 🤣
Never heard of this artist before I think. The music video is…meh, mildly fine but pretty goofy, and doesn’t look any better than the one for Speed Me Up but I guess it could have been worse.
@geo-shifter : Yeah we know. Nobody thought otherwise.
I do agree though that choosing this remix was a bad move.
That song is absolutely the farthest you can get when thinking about Sonic; he is a ROCKER, through and through!🤘 Hell, he even had his own rock band (Sonic Underground).
@Coolmusic lol. I couldn’t tell from the comments before me if people actually dug it or not. Regardless, everyone entitled to like what they like.
You know what could’ve been cool? A comeback of Paramore doing a rendition of “Escape From the City.” Might’ve been a shock, but probably a good shock.
Its certainly no Speed Me Up by Wiz Khalifa....maybe we will get an English version
oh yea hip hop, the thing that most suits sonic...
Why does america has to turn anything into generic hip hop?
^RaphaBoss: This remix was not exactly 'made by America'. But I get what you mean.
