Giants Software has released a first-look gameplay trailer for Farming Simulator 23, showing all of the agricultural additions that we can expect to find as the game ploughs its way onto Switch on 23rd May.
For the most part, this is yet another farm sim game (we know, shocking), but there are some new features that have been added this time around to ensure that the game is fresh and ripe for the picking. This includes an expanded number of machinery and crop choices and the introduction of two new maps inspired by American and European environments.
Oh, and there's also chickens this time.
For a little more information about the game's features and a look at some screenshots, check out the following from Giants Software:
- 130+ real and authentic machines on Switch & 100+ in the mobile version
- 14 crops to sow, plant, and harvest - now with grapes, olives, and sorghum
- A variety of field activities, extended by plowing and weeding
- Establish production chains and use powerful trucks to transport your goods!
- Tend to farm animals like cows, sheep, and now: chickens!
- Enjoy tons of possibilities on two new maps, including collectibles
- Tutorial mode, AI helper & a new autoload feature for logs/pallets assist you
Yes, Farming Simulator 23 might not be at the forefront of our minds for big games releasing this month, but if you need a break from all that Hyrule-saving, then this could provide some agricultural relaxation. The game is now available to pre-order from the Switch eShop for £40.49 / €49.99 / $49.99.
Will you be picking this one up in a few weeks? Let us know in the comments.

"Mobile & Nintendo Switch" is kind of sad thing to read. I wonder what the sale price will be on mobile devices? I can't imagine it being 49.99 there. Just makes me kind of sad to see this game advertised as basically a "downgraded" version for mobile devices and Switch being considered more of a mobile device rather than a full blown console. But that's just my sentiment talking, here.
This is great timing, because I've just got a brand new combine harvester.
@JimNorman The game is 45€/$, not 50.
Is that trailer footage from the Switch version? Looks too good/crisp to be Switch? 🤔
Love FS over the years very relaxing just hope it's not another 20
Not for me, but hope it will be good for fans of the genre!
@Johnny44 Maybe they’re using a good Anti-Aliasing for it, but even if this isn’t Switch gameplay, it would look pretty comparable to what you would get on a modern smartphone.
@Pillowpants Unpopular opinion here, but to me , the Switch is basically on par or better at gaming than a Smartphone, excluding battery life.
@JONOFTHEJONS my main gripe with gaming on mobile devices is the sheer amount of shovelware and P2W games there, which I consider have absolutely nothing to do with what videogames should be and are nothing more than (gambling) scams to maximize profit. That's probably why I've taken a great liking to retro gaming and indie games. All the bigger companies only seem to care about squeezing as much dough out of their customers and not about quality or actually putting out good games. Even Nintendo is walking a fine line these days when it comes to that. It's a very sad state of affairs, if you ask me.
@JONOFTHEJONS Thanks. I don’t want it on mobile, but if it looks like this on Switch then I would be interested to give it a try.
Maybe they should start remaking some of the first ones. If not, make a trilogy remaster. You know, like metroid prime 1-3 on wii . Farming simulator 1 replanted. I'm sure the farming Sim base would be happier than old mcdonald.
€39.99 preorder on Switch, oh boy they still do that.
The mobile version is under €10 on Android and iOS, and these are full games too.
Same was the case when these games came to the 3DS and Vita, under €10 on mobile but €39,99 on consoles because reasons, while there are controls aside the same full game.
For people wondering, the very first Farming Simulator on the Switch was the real deal consoles and PC get, but they never released the DLC on Switch version of it.
No local WiFi multiplayer again. Really? Easy pass for me.
Is there such a thing as a Farming simulator set in the galaxy far far away? You know, one that you can see what it was like for Owen & Beru to farm on a desert planet.
It looks like a good improvement over the last one
@Rayquaza2510 yeah the pricing is weird. With FS20 at least you could say it’s because it’s also a retail release, but I haven’t been able to find any physical preorders available for this version.
On the flip side though, based on my own experience with both versions of FS20, the game on the Switch seems better optimized. On iOS, it feels like my fairly up-to-date iphone and ipad skip frames even on the lowest settings, while the Switch plays it with no hiccups at all.
