When I make a comment on an article...I feel like I'm shouting out into an empty void, until someone replies to me from time to time.
Sometimes I re-visit an article that's been reposted again, and see "likes/hearts" on my comment from days or weeks before, that I had no idea anyone appreciated.
I've looked around the site a few times and can't seem to find a way to turn on "like" notifications. Places like Reddit and IGN have them, and I feel encouraged when contributing there.
@MontyCircus we don't currently do this as it would likely generate /alot/ of emails. However, I guess it might be nice to send a daily summary of activity on your posts, or have a page on the site where you can view that information. Consider it considered and added to our roadmap.
Why do you need such verification/validation?
If you want to check your comments for Hearts just click on your account in the top right and then click on comments, it has all of them, doesnt show down votes though
@MontyCircus It's a good question, but seeing likes is part of what makes internet/social media addicting. Even if you're ok with it, some people are likely more addictive than others. So, I'm ok with Nintendolife as it is currently. That's my logic, anyway. It's likely healthier for people in the long term not to notify you about likes.

Maybe likes/hearts wouldn't generate an e-mail (like replies do), but would still be a notification in the top-right corner of the page that you can click and get the list of comments and # of likes since your last login.
@MontyCircus I agree, this'd be a great idea. Just a small "@Agent_P liked your comment 'something positive/negative regarding the article'"
Honestly, for months I was assuming no one was liking or even reading my posts on NintendoLife, except for rare replies. I didn't know you could click for a page of all your comments until replies in this thread, but it would make sense to have it in the top right where your "reply numbers" appear.
I wasn't sure where to post this feedback, but here goes:
Am I the only one who isn't receiving notifications lately? Several people have been replying to my comments lately (including some endowed with the power to ban me, so it's rather critical I learn of them quickly), but I've had no idea. Just trying to sound the alert here...
@antdickens if you do make it a feature, please make it optional. Otherwise notifications are going to swell exponentially. And scrolling through that for users that don’t care who/when our posts are liked will be a nightmare. Please and Thank you!

@CANOEberry do you have any specific examples? They all seem fine here according to the logs. Note that you won't get a notification of a topic/thread reply IF you view it before we're due to send the notification.
@antdickens I've received two recent notifications this morning, so... perhaps things are working again? Over the past several days, though, I've missed at least six. Strange!
That's cool, if someone wants to see each individual like and the username of each "liker".
If someone wants to do this, go to "My Account" and then "Recent Likes".
I'll stick with the old method of "View Profile" and then "Comments", and then skimming through my recent comments for heart likes.
I still think it would be neat if, similar to the number in the top right that notifies you how many replies you've received since last login, if it did the same for likes/hearts.
I used and posted to NintendoLife for months and months before realizing you could "hunt" for your past likes through "View Profile ----> Comments" to see them all listed on one page.
Honestly, I didn't even know anyone was even reading my posts until I stumbled upon that and saw all the dozens of likes/hearts. Which lead me to wonder "why the heck is the fact people are enjoying your contributions hidden to each user?!?"
Have to say, I do like the ability to be able see which users have liked a particular comment, thanks - helps develop more of a sense of which users you may be on similar wavelengths with.
Does it operate on some sort of batch timer? A notification might have multiple users against a Like at a certain time, for a comment you might have made hours ago, so the chances of simultaneous Likes seems slim.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
