Picture the scene. You go to watch the Mario Movie in 2023. You realise that it is a stroke of genius, surely garnering a Return of the King number of Oscar nominations and going down in history as one of the all-time greats. The credits roll. Just as you are on your way out with your friends, chortling about Chris Pratt's pitch-perfect performance, a post-credits stinger reveals that the movie, in fact, has more to give.
Returning to his room in the Mushroom Kingdom after saving the day, Mario is met by a shadowy silhouette. The figure turns. It's Miyamoto.
"Have you heard of the Smash Bros. Initiative?" he asks. "I'm putting together a team."
Thus, the NCU is born...
Rather than Illumination hoarding all of the rights to each Nintendo franchise, however, the ensuing cinematic universe is split across a whole host of different animation studios, each applying their unique visuals and vibe to a different game series; the perfect marriage of Nintendo franchise and animation studio.
Of course, this is but a fiction. Currently, the planned Nintendo movies start and finish with Illumination's snappily-named The Super Mario Bros. Movie and there is no way that other studios would want to jump on board as part of a shared cinematic universe. But seeing different animation houses tackle some of Nintendo's biggest franchises? Now that would be cool.
Below, we have assembled the bulging list of Nintendo franchises which we have paired with the animation studios we think would be the best fit to take them on — excluding Mario of course: he's taken. We have kept this solely within the realms of animated film (come on, would you really like to see a live-action Kirby??) and have decided to limit the pairings to one franchise per studio - because, let's admit it, Ghibli would have a lot of work on its hands otherwise.
Happy imagining!...
Animal Crossing - Walt Disney Animation Studios
Some of these pairings seemed more obvious than others and teaming up Animal Crossing and Disney would surely be an open goal.
Getting talking animals right is a difficult business, and managing to handle it in a way that is not all-out comical but also extremely wholesome is tougher still. What better studio to take on the challenge than the House of Mouse?
We're thinking more along the lines of its 3D animal-centric animated projects like Zootopia, Bolt, and Chicken Little, but we wouldn't rule out a hand-drawn take on Nintendo's most wholesome franchise - how cozy would Animal Crossing be in the style of Brother Bear or Bambi?? We've already seen hand-drawn Animal Crossing, though, in the 2006's Gekijōban Dōbutsu no Mori, so we're leaning towards CG Nook.
Donkey Kong - Aardman
It's the wrong barrel, lad!
With his bulbous eyes and oversized hands, Donkey Kong already has the hallmarks of a cracking Aardman production.
As the studio has grown into more ambitious projects, so too has its sets expanded in size. We know that Aardman can make a mean jungle (just look at Early Man), and a character as chaotic as DK deserves to have a good amount of dry humour to boot.
It would certainly be a challenge (and many, many years in the making) but we would think that Aardman's eye for movement would be the perfect accompaniment to Donkey Kong's swings, rolls, and ground slaps.
Fire Emblem - Toei Animation
For some of Nintendo's franchises, style needs to take priority. While it would be interesting to see how Fire Emblem's turn-based combat would translate to a big-screen action set piece, it is hard to imagine the film appearing in any animated style other than anime.
Who better to take a stab at a Fire Emblem film, then, than the studio behind the Dragon Ball and Digimon series, Toei Animation. Not only does the studio have experience in adapting video games, but its work on Dragon Ball would put it in good stead for all of the slashing, blasting, and physics-challenging hairstyles that would have to run throughout a Fire Emblem film.
Of course, there was a Fire Emblem anime trialed back in 1995, but with only two released episodes to show for it, we don't see the harm in starting anew.
Kid Icarus - DreamWorks
From flying too close to the sun to chilling out on the moon, Kid Icarus would seem to be a prime fit for Dreamworks.
Perhaps most famous for its work on the Shrek movies, we were actually thinking more along the lines of How To Train Your Dragon with this pick. Old-timey setting? Aerial sequences? Floppy-haired protagonist? It's all right there!
Looking at the move to a more cartoony style of animation that can be seen in the studio's upcoming Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, we're imagining that style coming into its own for Icarus' kid-centric story.
Contracts would need to be signed preventing the use of any Smash Mouth in the project, however.
Kirby - Illumination
Ok, we'll come clean. We know that Illumination will have its hands full at the moment, but once the Mario Movie is out then it will surely be looking for a follow-up project, and what could be better suited than Kirby?
You take a Minion, pad it out a little, paint it pink, and boom, you've got yourself the model for Kirby. What we are saying is that Illumination has history with little round guys and Kirby is surely the littlest, roundest guy out there.
Of course, on top of this, Kirby is arguably one of Nintendo's most child-friendly franchises - an area of the animation market that Illumination is certainly cornering.
However — and yes, this should be understood as a warning — if this is to happen and anyone shows up to screenings dressed in suits (perhaps under the title of 'Kirballers' or something similarly weak), we are not to be held accountable.
The Legend of Zelda - Studio Ghibli
The question with a task like this was always going to be the same: Which Nintendo franchise are we going to give to Ghibli?
With its massive painterly landscapes, intricate character details, and worlds that feel truly lived in, Ghibli would be able to take on near enough any Nintendo game and turn it into an instant all-time classic. But seriously, how could we not pick Zelda?
Inspired in no small amount by Matt Vince's short animation 'Zelda X Ghibli Film Trailer', Hyrule is the obvious location for a Ghibli adventure. We have embedded Vince's video below and it is well worth a watch to get an idea of just how beautiful the film would be.
Without leaning too hard into our unabashed Ghibli adoration, the studio would perhaps be the best positioned to pull off a Nintendo adaptation straight off the bat. It can do stunning environments, sword-swinging action, and has such an attentive ear for music that we can't think of a studio better to handle Kondo's themes on the big screen? Too much!
Luigi's Mansion - Laika
Yes, Luigi is going to be in the Mario Movie. Heck, from what we have seen already it seems clear that Illumination will be leaning into the unlucky spookiness of his gaming past; but what if Luigi's Mansion was allowed to stand on its own two quivering feet?
There is certainly enough in the franchise to warrant a solo film adaptation — spooky house, jump scares, nonsensical gibbering old man — you get the picture. You throw a production from Coraline and ParaNorman studio Laika into the mix, and you get something drenched in a whole lot more nightmare fuel.
But this could really work! Luigi's Mansion is that brand of soft-core horror that has all the tropes of grown-up spooks but without any of the sharp edges. Laika could really turn this into something to traumatise the next generation of kids for years to come, all while presenting it in its signature stop motion. Because clay can't be scary, right?

While not a Nintendo series, that Donkey Kong entry made me realize that Aardman would be a perfect fit for the Banjo-Kazooie series. One of the quirkiest and most British video game series getting an adaptation by one of the quirkiest and most British animation studios feels like a match made in heaven, and the series' iconic google-eyes would look fantastic in claymation.
As far as Nintendo Life's choices go, I think most of them make some degree of sense with the massive exception of Illumination for Kirby. I do NOT trust them to tackle the series' lore and darker elements.
I Would to mention to DHX media, with My little pony 4 generation, They showed what they are capable of, and there are more series in their catalog that also demonstrate their ability; Kirby and Animal Crossing are good options for them.
Zag Studios (Miraculous Lady bug and Zak Storm), and Man of action (Ben 10 and Generator Rex) are also good studio proposals with good capacity in my opinion.
Kirby - Illumination
NO
N O
I DONT WANT WRITERS BARELY DISGUISED FETISH KING DEDEDE FART INHALING JOKES AND TOM CRUISE OR WHATEVER PROBLEMATIC CELEBRITY THEY CAN FIND VOICING KIRBY INSTEAD OF OHMOTO I WILL ACTUALLY TURN INTO THE GREEN GOBLIN
The fact that there is not a Splatoon anime yet is an absolute travesty. Sure, Zelda can do it and Kid Icarus has actually done it in animated short form, but Studio Ghibli should do Splatoon first. It'd be even better if Splatoon was an actual series rather than just one movie. Unless they did a movie trilogy, there's just too much to put in one.
Illumination for Kirby? No freaking way. Even if HAL or Nintendo had 'em by the neck, I still wouldn't believe the end product would be remotely passable.
I think Pit would love Smash Mouth.
Was Nintendo Pictures not just established from acquiring Dynamo? It seems like their plans for the future might be to handle things internally
I can hear Chris Pratt as Link already: excuuuuse me, princess.
Starfox was actually so close to being the Wes Anderson type animation short before Nintendo pulled the plug.
https://gonintendo.com/stories/376299-collegehumor-and-nintendo-were-working-on-a-starfox-claymation-pr
Oh yeah Aardman and DK feels like a match made in heaven! Someone make this happen please while I sit here and do…well yeah, while I sit here.
For Fire Emblem I believe Ufotable studio (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Demon Slayer etc) would be the best.
Chainsaw Man, a new anime by MAPPA studio has one of the best animation quality I ever see in anime series.
A Zelda Ghibli movie sounds incredible, I’d never thought of that before.
Splatoon as Pixar doesn’t make sense to me though, Pixar always has deep meanings in their movies, and I don’t see how Splatoon could have that. The animation would definitely work though.
@Purgatorium Oh no that’s traumatizing
@Miu Ooh that’s a good pick
I love kid Icarus, I wish we would get a new kid icarus game for switch, he’s an angel and his name is pit, im trying to read my bible and learn from the past stories and stuff
I feel like if there was a Fire Emblem anime, it would probably be an A1. They're probably the go to anime studio if you want something that looks good (Ace Attorney anime aside) but won't break the bank for anyone. They're kinda like Japanese Illumination in that regard, if Illumination strived for even a bit of artistic merit.
I'd love to see a Sony animated one, yes partially because a Sony animation Nintendo movie would be automatically surreal. But also they've been doing really good things lately and feel like right now they'd be willing to tackle trying to make something as odd as a Nintendo game to movie adaptation.
I'm definitely biased towards anime over western animation, but I really can't understand a lot of these choices. For starters, Kid Icarus, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, and Kirby have all had some great animated projects already, so I'd leave those in the hands of the same people if they're still around. Pokemon, on the other hand, let the main TV series stagnate for decades until the recent reboot with a significantly worse art style. Just give that to one of the dozen teams that have worked on the cool shorts/mini-series they occasionally put out. I'd give Zelda to Brain's Base or Wit Studio since they've both recently proven they can do amazing things with a silent protagonist. I'd really like to see Kyoto Animation do Metroid, though Wit could probably do it justice as well. Xenoblade belongs with either Bones or Kinema Citrus, while I'd give Fire Emblem to MAPPA or A-1 Pictures. And Splatoon should go to Trigger or Orange. I also want Star Fox to be done by Nut. For anything Mario/Donkey Kong, can we just convert Next Level into an animation studio?
Dynamo Pictures, now Nintendo Pictures, has already worked with Pikmin before, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them reprise the role.
I completely agree with Studio Ghibli for The Legend of Zelda. They would be an excellent job bringing the vast and surreal world of Zelda to life.
I don't want Disney anywhere near Nintendo franchises.
Why do some of these have to be animated at all?
I personally want a Animal Crossing animated series rather than a movie (another movie) not really interested who makes it
I can’t really explain myself, but I can see Trigger pull off a really good Star Fox.
@Dev9417 Splatoon isn't even 10 years old and is mostly popular in Japan
If Marvel has taught us anything, Nintendo shouldn't go distributing their properties to various other studios. At this point, the smart thing to do would be to go all in and partner with Illumination and form an entire Nintendo films division of the studio, much like how they partnered with Game Freak to make The Pokemon Company.
I’ve never watched a Studio Ghibli film, but I feel like they’d do a really nice job.
I prefer more anime animation studios mostly- Production IG, Wit Studio, Madhouse, Studio Bones, Sunrise, Studio Pierrot, TMS Entertainment, Ellipsanime, Fortiche etc.
Also series > movies.
... Wun can only hope.
I think the only realistic Western animation studio that will work with Nintendo aside from Illumination is DreamWorks, as both are under the same NBCUniversal umbrella. Don't think they're gonna go elsewhere. Ghibli Zelda could be very cool, but especially with DreamWorks leaning into more experimental artstyles, I could definitely see them doing a Zelda animated film with a more refined BOTW cel-shaded watercolor look
Also Illumination doing Kirby sounds abysmal even if the Mario movie turns out well
Kirby done by the Quay Brothers
Sod Illumination, we need more Ghibli in our lives
None. Thank you.
I would love to see Ghibli animate an opera / musical based on Shin onigashima. Thats probably my most wanted movie of a Nintendo game.
Or Bandai Namco Filmworks / Sunrise do a movie or OVA based on Time Twist. That would be neat. Not that I think Nintendo would let them do it.
Btw there's also already been a few pretty decent Nintendo animations before:
.. just to name a few. Nintendo could really also just do it themselves as a lot of their games have short-form top notch animation/CGI clips for their properties already.
... Wun can only hope.
Xenoblade - ufotable
Nothing more to say here
Metroid or Zelda would probably be the only ones I'd be interested in.
The Bayonetta movie was pretty good if it looked like every other anime ever though. Hmm I wonder how much they paid her for that compared to the $4k offering for Bayo 3...
@duffmmann I bet they have something like that planned if the Mario movie does well enough, which I'm sure it will since people will even watch those horrible Sonic movies.
Studio Ghibli doing Zelda is nice to dream about, but I think it just wouldn’t match with Ghibli’s philosophy anymore. They only do violence if it’s used to make a harsh point about reality. And Zelda seems a bit trivial for that.
I think they’d rather work with Illumination again. And we’ll probably get hyperkinetic little gorons doing fart jokes.
I don't think Donkey Kong and Aardman could work. If we were to get a stop-motion Nintendo film, I'd pick Luigi's Mansion or the Mother series.
Besides, DK already got a movie and its fantastic.
@nikolai131 Please no. The Fate series is a narrative mess, and I just plain don't like Demon Slayer's art style that much.
Adding on to this, personally I'm interested in who's directing a film than the company behind it. Put the words "Genndy Tartakovsky" and "Zelda" together and you'll see what I mean
@Eagly No More Heroes isn't a Nintendo IP. Marvelous, Inc. owns 90% and Grasshopper Manufacture owns 10%. NMH games have appeared on Playstation consoles.
Not SOny, NEVER SOny, ***** SONY!!! Also not Disney, BOTH companies would ***** Nintendo over. Neither Disney or SOny deserve to work on Nintendo IPs in ANY medium.
Seeing they haven't done anything big since Farmageddon, I'd just love to see Aardman do anything at all!
If Mario can meet Sonic, how about Mario & Ratchet movie ?
@Eagly No More Heros isn't Nintendo's, it belongs to Grasshopper.
@Funneefox
But the real question is, do you yield?
@Dark-Luigi That and Kirby already has a perfectly nice cartoon.
No thank you to any of this. Except Zelda and Ghibli, that sounds like perfection.
@KBuckley27 I imagine it would be something like Little Koala, if you remember that. :3
As long as it doesn't look like anime I'm happy.
easy let Nintendo Pictures do the movies based on Nintendo ip
no i don't want Disney to put progressive woke crap on a Nintendo franchise movie, keep Disney out of everything and Sony too
@wuntyme8 Nintendo now have a CGI/motion capture subsidiary dedicated to movies/tv series of her franchises(Nintendo Pictures), they don't need this animation studios, Nintendo can use Nintendo Pictures to make a Legend of Zelda/Metroid movie.
Yeah no, considering how garbage Dragon Ball Super came out Toei can stay far away from adapting Nintendo ips.
They're capable of good animation but most of the time they will constantly cut corners and put out mediocre products and only put in effort or budget at big scenes.
As for the rest of the rest if just feels like you're pulling a random similarity to justify a studio making a whole adaption for it.
Though I think the best idea on the list would be Dreamworks + Kid Icarus, and since we're not getting any new kid icarus content anytime soon might as well get a show.
Laika would also be great for a Paper Mario Movie.
@Sourcecode because most of Nintendo franchises will look weird/don't translate well to live-action, only Legend of Zelda/Metroid could translate well to live-action, the rest of Nintendo franchises need to be animated movies(high bugdet animated movies).
@Eagly no absotetely not, i don't want Disney putting progressive woke crap on a Nintendo franchise movie/tv series
Like I said elsewhere, the only western studio I can unironically imagine doing a Fire Emblem movie (Japan already had an OVA way back when) is WDAS. Bonus points if it drives them to finally employ Meander on a feature project. Zelda, with all respect to Ghibli, feels like it would be even more of a homerun in Cartoon Saloon's hands. Xenoblade warrants creme de la creme like Ufotable while my other top fave in the industry, Studio Shaft, could work its magic on a wide variety of IPs from Project X Zone and Smash Bros (which, IIRC, they briefly animated once!) to Starfox and WarioWare. Heck, maybe the only reason they haven't produced a full SSBU animation to date is that Kirby lacks a neck. Also, who WOULDN'T want a Bayonetta anime from Studio Trigger?
@Giancarlothomaz hence why I said some…
Ralph Bakshi X Pushmo/Crashmo/Stretchmo
“ “ X Ice Climbers
We already have a Zelda cartoon and need no other!
@duffmmann Agree with this. Keep it all under one studio for better oversight and consistency.
Some of these picks are surprisingly inspired.
Startropics drawn by Madhouse/Kawajiri.
Saw the results in the poll at the end in favor of Studio Ghibli handling Zelda, and while I certainly support giving Zelda to masters of their craft, after watching the glorious masterpiece that is Arcane, I can't help getting lulled in by visions of what Fortiche could do with it.
Besides, it's not like we would have to leave Studio Ghibli out in the cold. I would MUCH rather see what they would do with Fire Emblem rather than Toei.
I would like to see a dark Pokemon series by "little witch academia" and "Edgerunners" Studio Trigger
I would rather see a live action Metroid, without Brie Larson.
i'm gonna be a jerk and say screw basically all of these american studios.
to me, none of them are well-equipped to the task because the audiences of video games are not the audiences of movies, and these companies will never be able to grapple with that because movie audiences are always what they will care about — they are big budget companies with very little creative elbow room because of their audiences.
But, beyond just being video game stories, Nintendo's IPs are inherently foreign IPs. So, instead, let nintendo's budget fuel a truly creative, non-Hollywood studio, foreign studio like Cartoon Saloon (Song of the Sea). There are many others, both traditional animation and CGI companies, to turn to. Hollywood has screwed up these IPs enough.
Wes Anderson Star Fox hahahaha phenomenal
I've said it myself that Zelda should be taken on by Ghibli. Although I think Splatoon should be taken by some over-the-top type of studio, like Studio Trigger. That would be pretty epic.
@Miu The animation in Shine Post has blown me away. Alot of Idol shows rely on CG during performances but not Shine Post. You get 60fps, hand drawn animation during music performance sections and it'll melt your eyes. Speaking of idols, my favorite heroine from World End Syndrome is the idol singer. I can't wait until the sequel comes out. The director said there will finally be news on it after New Years.
Please, god no, no more. Is nothing sacred anymore?
Wario Ware - Trigger
@nikolai131 Does your pfp happen to be homeboy from Hyouka? I can tell Kyoto Animation from a mile away, lol
@Funneefox I'd turn blue if they did make it.
Legend of Zelda gibli movie would be amazing! And is the best pick on this list.
And please I don’t want toei filling half of the movie with characters staring out each other wile they re use the same frame five times.
Studio Ghibli specifically making a Majora's Mask movie, go!
I don't know why but for Xenoblade I'd like the studio that handled Attack on Titan to handle it.
A few things:
One, there actually was a "Fire Emblem" anime already, from 1996. It was only two episodes, so it probably flew under people's radar. But I do remember that Spike Spencer and Tiffany Grant (the voices of Shinji Ikari and Asuka Langley Soryu from the ADV Films dub of "Neon Genesis Evangelion," respectively, roles they reprised in both the Funimation and Amazon Prime Video dubs for the Rebuild of Evangelion movies) voiced Marth and Lena, respectively.
Two, we also had anime adaptations of Kirby and F-Zero: "Kirby: Right Back At Ya!" and "F-Zero: GP Legend." Both appeared on 4Kids TV back in the day. I don't know which companies made them, but 4Kids licensed them for American audiences, but they finished Kirby while dropping F-Zero from their schedule.
Third, I know a lot of people would like to see Studio Ghibli make a Zelda anime, but if I am to be honest, I would rather go in a different direction. As beautiful as Studio Ghibli's animation can be, I don't think it's well-suited for Zelda.
Frankly, after watching the concept trailer for the upcoming Genshin Impact anime, I would rather that Ufotable be the one to make a Zelda anime. They could make Hyrule look just as pretty as Studio Ghibli could, if not more beautiful, and they could make the characters look more like they do in the games (whereas Ghibli would give the characters the studio's signature character designs, especially in the faces, instead of keeping them closer to the games).
Fourth, I think Nickelodeon would be a better fit for Splatoon than Pixar. I've always felt that Splatoon felt more like a Nickelodeon show, especially since the ink resembles that of the network's signature slime and their splat logo.
Fifth, I also think that Paramount (a sister company to Nickelodeon) would be better for Metroid and maybe Star Fox, since they have quite the experience with science-fiction shows like Star Trek and Halo.
I'll end it here, because if I don't, this comment will turn into yet another essay of mine. Sorry for those who get annoyed with them.
The studio that did Neon Genesis Evangelion would be perfect for a dark, gritty Metroid tale.
@AstroTheGamosian I miss the days of super short anime adaptations of games. Wizardry and Ninja Gaiden are particularly good. Easy to find on YouTube too!
Hmm, I am going to disagree a lot with Fire Emblem and Toei Animation. Maybe A-1 Pictures, Ufotable, Mappa would be a better choice, or maybe a different Animation company.
It sucks that none these will happen as Universal owned Illumination is a partner now. Very bad move. But what do you expect when they already went with Universal building their mediocre themed lands at there parks. They have a very strong relationship with Universal Studios. The only other animation studio they will use is DreamWorks Animation as they are owned by Universal Studios as well.
While I like all of these, it would be strange for them to be done by different companies. I’m personally hoping for an eventual crossover between different movies, but idk.😅 Kirby and Illumination would probably be my choice, but any Xenoblade movie would be great to have.
I’d actually want to switch the Zelda and Pokémon studios. Ghibli doing nature is always great, and I like a toon style Link.
I effing loved this article. These were all fantastic ideas. I could see any one of these being made by one of these studios... just please no live action. Hahaha!
@JustMonika Wow the animation and character movement in Shine Post felt very fluid.. can't imagine how much budget they need lol
I love anime from KyoAni as well like Hyouka, Hibike Euphonium, Chuunibyou, Kyoukai no Kanata.. and Violet Evergarden really is one of the best in animation quality.
The idol Rei NIkaido is one of my favorite in that VN and I like her personality. Can't wait for the sequel
This is a flawless list. We'll done, folks!
Also: Studio Trigger for "Super Smash Bros.".
We will never see a Kid Icarus film because Nintendo doesn't see it as a viable franchise. Uprising was spectacular, and then... nothing. At the very least, an HD upgrade of it for Wii U or Switch, but they didn't even drop an lazy upscaled port
@Miu Well Konami is part of the production of Shine Post so they were well funded for certain.. it's definitely my favorite Idol anime now. Idoly Pride was also good but I'd say it's just as much for fans of Anohana, Clannad or Your Lie in April given the unique premise, lol. For Kyoto Animation you also can't forget K-ON and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Oh yeah, here's my famous car wrap. Infamous maybe a better term, lol
https://twitter.com/Solidgearmara/status/1550626218764079104?t=J6dyFekUp9B1NEFtImqvIg&s=19
None, please x
I think it's about time to make a Zelda movie.
Ghibli all of them
I'd put forward Titmouse Studios for Metroid. They did the recent Vox Machina series which was BRILLIANT.
I wouldn't mind if Pokemon changed hands actually. At least for a seperate movie or something. Give us a high budget, cinematic release.
@JustMonika Haha I wanna 'rent' that car too. That anime is more popular than I thought it would be.. just like Bunny Senpai.
Yep I'd even recommend K-ON and Haruhi Suzumiya as one of anime starter pack lol. I'm surprised to know even Konami funded it.. maybe they hope it will be as popular as Love Live. Hopefully it will be.
Errr.... none of the above please. As much as I have played many games that are nintendo games but not made by them it would always be my preference for them to be made solely by nintendo. I think lots of those shared games have not felt completely a nintendo game, particularly the mario rabids games, and even the oracle games weren't completely coherent to Link to the past and awakening. It is not that these games aren't any good, in fact I loved the oracle games, it's just a little something that is not there.
Although I should say that I think that Retro Studios work with metroid and donkey kong was sublime and did feel 100% nintendo. Maybe it just depends on how much effort nintendo put into making it that way.
@BloodNinja The weird thing with the "Fire Emblem" anime is, they kept calling Marth "Mars." Why, I don't know. Maybe it's in the same vein as calling Usagi "Serena" in the DIC Dub of "Sailor Moon."
Otherwise, it was still a very pretty anime for it's time. And I will admit, I did develop a bit of a crush on Lena after watching that. She is strong, kind, and beautiful. I'd love to see another Fore Emblem anime that brings back these iconic characters, and have their OG voice actors voice them again.
I'm all for Luigi's Mansion being tackled in claymation by Henry Selick.
As long as they never ever hire Chris Pratt again
Ghibl/Zelda is a given, but pairing xenoblade and mir is an amazing idea as well as Luigi's mansion with Leika. I would use cartoon saloon for something more sophisticated than Pikmin.
Would love the people behind Arcane to do Zelda <3
@Eagly Doesn't matter, SOny is also a competitor to Nintendo in the gaming industry. Their fanbase ALONE has caused headaches for Nintendo & Xbox fans alike. SOny does NOT DESERVE to touch a single Nintendo franchise...neither in film NOR game based media. ***** SOny, ***** PLAYSTATION!!!!
@Eagly Sorry, forget that response. I was thinking of someone else, sorry that it didn't make sense. My explanation for why SOny shouldn't be allowed to touch a Nintendo IP is best backed up by the Bayonetta 2 hate fiasco. Over 68% of those hate tweets & death threats came from playstation gamers who foolishly tied their PSN IDs to social media like Facebook & Twitter & were easily tracked. SOny never even tried to calm them down or condemn their uncalled for hate posts...& that says a lot about what kind of trashy arrogant company SOny is. Doesn't matter if you THINK it'll be good...SOny doesn't deserve to lay their filthy greedy fingers on Nintendo properties. If ANYTHING a Metroid Film should be live action...not animated.
You’ve just gone for big name studio, most of which are terrible picks.
Nintendo would need to have majority control with a few of these suggestions.
Sony Animation, Disney/Pixar are more miss than hit, as of late. And I wouldn’t want Studio Mir touching anything Nintendo related, everything after ATLA has been mediocre or garbage. Dreamworks and 20th Century are confusing suggestions.
Wit Studio, Production I.G, Trigger Studios, Powerhouse Studios, Fortiche Production and work by Genndy Tartakovsky would be much better picks. Especially considering some of these studios have already been involved with developing some excellent Nintendo shorts already.
