This is Dave from Digital Floundering. Thought I would condense everything Nintendo has told us about the Switch Next Model in one easy thread. I'll try and update as they announce things! No rumours. No speculation. No hacks.
The Switch successor will be revealed sometime this fiscal year. - Mr Furukawa 07/05/2024
The name of this thread reminds me of those "This is DEFINITELY NOT the Three Houses OST" videos. XD
Idealism and realism are only a few letters apart, it's a fine line between the two. One must be careful not
to step too far on one end, as it could very easily throw the other off balance.

@Fizza Dons mod hat
I'm going to have to give you a warning for that, mate. This isn't the place for speculation. Nintendo themselves have not even mentioned games. For all we know, it will play something else! Thank you. (And sorry for the warning.) Edit* see what you made me do! I came dangerously close to speculating myself. Takes mod hat off.
Regarding the Direct heads-up, as fun as it is to freak out over spontaneous Direct announcements, it's kinda nice knowing about one month in advance. Spontaneity is fun, but it'll be nice having some time without "(Not Clickbait!) Nintendo Direct confirmed next week?!?!?" "Switch 2 revealed in next direct?!?!"

@Novamii Tell me about it! It's refreshing that they have stomped out any Switch 2 rumours and spared us the daily 'Will Switch 2 be in the next Direct' grift. 'Here's why it makes perfect sense(tm)'
@GrailUK The idea of revealing new hardware in a Direct never made sense to me. Nintendo want as many people to see the announcement as possible, and sure news spreads fast, but why limit it to a presentation of people who already own a Switch? It'd be better to put it as a standalone trailer (ala the original Switch) and get it as far into the mainstream as you can. Chances are, a large portion of Switch owners plan on upgrading already, they should also use the trailer to convince people who don't own a Nintendo console why they should get this next one. Keep on growing the fanbase and all that.

There will be a Direct in June that doesn't mention it
edit: was trying to think of a technical non speculative thing to say just to troll the thread a bit. The best I think I can do is that NAND is cheaper per GB than it was in 2017
"we currently believe that an increasing number of customers will choose digital products for successor models, just as they did for Nintendo Switch." Big news! Successor will still have digital games. 😛
